    New technique woman in the blue shirt reminds me of my senior canoeing instructor: "Try to keep your ankle dry, get your leg wet" - the amount of effort people put into trying to keep their foot dry is usually the reason they fall and get totally soaked, or hurt. He ALWAYS encouraged people to step into the water on a sure thing instead of heroics.
    She committed to dropping off the bow into shallow water, landing on her feet, and having very precise control of the boat from that point. Seeing where her feet are landing, and having such precise control - not sure how she could beat that.

      My wife and I do the same thing when we're trailering. We don't power load and the wind/current pulling the boat away from the dock makes it easier to walk the boat onto the trailer. So in actuality, it IS a brilliant move!

    Was a coxswain in navy on motor whale boat. If you take the bow line and secure to a dock bollard. Then apply power towards dock the stern kicks in to pier and you tie off. So easy. Yes you have to allow moderate slack in bow. I dock my boat single-handed in all kinds of weather.

    I used to bring my Hardy 20, with a 75HP outboard, alongside on my own. The secret is: 1. to have all your lines ready and running aft first, 2. Come alongside and tie up your stern line from within the boat, 3. Put the engine into fwd tick over and turn the wheel hard over towards the jetty. This tightens the stern line and gently brings the bow in to the jetty. 4. Grab bow line, switch off engine and step ashore looking cool and tie up.
    Similarly, if the bow line is tied up first, then turn the wheel hard over to the jetty and go astern on tick over. This brings the stern in nice and slow.

      I have a 19’ boat (in the movie Grownups) and also dock by myself. However, when I use my forward spring line, with a little slack, and put it on the cleat, I put it in forward gear, and turn away from the dock, bringing in the stern.
      These people drive boats like I see people drive cars. As long as that can aim it into a spot, they don’t care about anyone around them.

    So many mistakes. Especially jet boat guy. Near smashes dock. Then parks it on incline. To get out and look at what he fkd up. Classic. And everyone seems to only have one stupid rope.

    Why do boaters always head to the other side of the dock, so the wind n currents push em away from the dock? when they could be on the other side and let the wind n current help them dock and keep the boat close to the dock...smh....

    • @christopher4207
      @christopher4207 Рік тому

      That's exactly what my wife and I do! It's easier to hook the bow and use the drive to pull the stern into the dock. Did you ever try to push a boat away from the dock (against the tide/wind) to get it out onto a trailer? Since we don't power load, the wind/current pushing the boat AWAY from the dock makes it MUCH easier because we can control everything with dock lines. We've been boating/launching/loading for 40+ years so, we pretty much have it down to a science that works perfectly for us.

    1st 1 not tossed! Next? Spring lines useless! 1 bow & 1 stern & he would’ve been done! Dude, come on, 8:52 & still no girls “Tossed”! Nope 8:32 starting Ur sign off! No 1 tossed. These people very inexperienced. You never tie off a line & walk away. Make a half loop so you can pull in/let out as needed til boat is positioned properly, then secure & walk. The more wind/current the more important it becomes. I never see people volunteering on docks to catch lines & help. Sad! Boats are an expensive hobby.
