LeNnOn 41 I started watching it recently, and I am fan of old school good animation, like in Cowboy Bebop, but I don’t mind animation here because I know it is a product of its time. The script and music make a good pillars that hold this anime, and maybe the animation is not cutting edge, but it is creative and the environments are consistent, and I like the moderation in character design that fits realistic tone. And I like how faces look mature and have roughness, and even look like many of them have faces like the in American animation. This show is really has calm tone which I like and shows that you can make a political drama without using shocking tropes like in Game of Thrones or House of Cards.
The cast of Logh is so wide yet well developed, so much life, every character gets his time to shine and you almost feel like he or she could be the star at some point or another. It's a true anime epic.
It's truly in a league of its own. My some critique of the show is that everybody's thoughts and intents are so well fleshed out It's unrealistic, but you bring up a good point. What if this was the standard for all media?

Rather than having characters whose purpose is to simply shape the plot as conveniently as possible, the characters in logh define the shape of the plot by having their own ideologies and opinions even if at the end of it all they may be irrelevant.
Logh is good throughout, there's a lot of humanity in it missing from so many hollow 2010s animes. Many current directors don't bother researching the human interactions of history, the wholesomeness and differences in sex, age, class and occupation are cut for generic scenes.
gotta love yang abandoning julian in the city streets Although I think julian grabbing the gun from the suitcase just makes sense, he's like 15 by that point or something, kid's dad being beat on he's gonna reach for the piece

yeah, reinhard was way better in the earlier episodes, he kinda became sick and sassy later on. personally i liked the later eps just because they started really fleshing out side characters, and the antagonists were a bit more interesting imo

In all seriousness, I actually think he's the most under appreciated character. I actually think Oberstein is a fucking idiot for what he did, Kircheis was far wiser than he was. Kircheis recognized the need for Machiavellian decisions sometimes, which is why he never spoke against Oberstein, even when he morally disagreed with him. Instead, he put his faith in his friend, believing he was qualified to make the decisions he couldn't. Oberstein was too stupid to see the inverse, he was also pretty useless and inconsequential after the first season.

Jin Because, as Mlk pointed out, some of the original scenes were not of very good quality. The colours or the drawings were off, so they were remade. And I would have no problem with that, but I think they kind of overdid it --some were not that bad and didn't need a full redraw. The change in style is often too obvious and some of the characters' features or expressions are lost. Also, their faces, particularly Yang's, can look rather red at times. But that's just my personal opinion.
Tho crammed with information on the first couple of episodes, but other than that, i really enjoy the early arc's, and make you appreciate Kircheis and Jessica Character more, as their influence is ironically the very straw that going broke the alliances and empire back much like goldenbaum influences.
I had never watched the original anime until this year. I had only ever read the books. I have to say the first episodes are not... great. The exposition is painful, The pacing is super weird, and the number of unnecessary flash backs makes me want to die. But I'm sticking with it. After all it's not like this show became a classic for no reason.
The whole point of the show is Reinhard fulfilling his promise to Kircheis. ****Spoilers***** Once he does that Reinhard symbolically dies from an inexplicable disease. The early episodes are hugly important to Reinhard's character development because of Kircheis.

The graphics are not great, but the story and character's plots are worth the watching anyway. Is like any old Anime, graphics are dated but they hold certain magic about them in retrospect.
Man, the camera angles when Kircheis runs up the stairs... it looks like a Martin Scorcese movie right there. They just don't make something like this in modern anime.
The early episodes do fall short of S2 and S3, partly because of the lower budget, mostly because of the characters outside the main cast. Most are cartoonish morons for our heroes to walk over on their ascent to power. I mean I get that the civil war is supposed to be meritocracy > aristocracy, but holy shit, if there was a bad idea or a bad trait available to be had, the a aristocracy had it and then some.
It makes sense that they would be, especially on the Imperial side. It's glossed over, but humanity under the Galactic Federation and early empire numbered over 300 billion, and that was confined to Imperial space. By the time of logh, Imperial population was under 25 billion. The empire was in a death spiral of corruption and ineptitude, it's only natural morons with nothing going for them but family pedigree would occupy a majority of powerful positions.
I finished the original 110 episodes in 4 months. I like it better than the new 2018 remake. Only the battles look better the character designs are not so good.
i couldnt stand watching the remake past 2-3 episodes; the character designs were so generic and unrealistic :^( old logh is so good bc 150+ characters and all of them managed to look unique despite all of them having practical, non-covering haircuts

Usually I'd agree, but this translations choice of yellow during ground and generally brighter lit scenes and blue in space and darker scenes was really effective IMO.

The first like 26 episodes are my favourite, so much happens and we get to know so many characters.
This is one of the few anime in which while watching it it felt more like a western movie than a japanese production

I personally love the late 80s-90s style of anime, was my favorite and certainly loved Lotgh ^^.
