HEY Brooke please don't be so hard on yourself be kind to yourself as you are to others. Your tortillas look delicious mine don't ever look near perfect but they taste good as I have no doubt that yours are delicious. Hugs and ❤. You rock !!!!@SouthernFrugalMomma
My mom has been making them for years and she can’t make them perfect circles. We call them world maps because they are different shapes. We don’t care they taste amazing!
As a Hispanic, I approve the tomato base from knorr for rice. Oh and if you aren't using wax, parchment or plastic wrap with the tortilla press, you'll break your tortillas. Hope that helps Brooke thank you love PS, I add a spoon or so of tomato sauce, or paste to mine. Jalapeño would be good, a few slivers of garlic. I know your doing 5 dollar dinners but I freeze my tomato paste in a spoon full and just add 1 to each batch. Also a great addition to taco meat. I freeze Jalapeño too. Chop it. Don't need much
I started watching your channel about 9 months ago. I only knew how to make a few things. I'm really not that good at cooking. But, I now make a lot of your dinner ideas! I really love your channel.
Quit smoking in 09. Was at the register at Walgreens not long ago. Woman in front of me spent $12 for a pk of cigarettes and a cheapo lighter. . I nearly fell over. Never so glad I finally quit!
If I’m not feeling like rolling tortillas I do chicken enchilada casserole. Cut the tortillas into wedges and layer chicken (.59 cents a pound ) enchilada sauce, cheese and anything else you want to layer in like beans, diced tomatos. Bake at 350 until heated through and cheese is melted. I love that you teach people how to eat well on a tight budget. I know more people than ever are struggling just to eat.
Thanks for sharing!! 🎉 In my humble opinion, it doesn't matter if the homemade tortillas aren't perfect. As long as they taste amazing, which I know they will cause you are making them, that's all that matters. Keep up the amazing work! With love, from Missouri!!
Bestie Brooke your tortillas are perfect because you made them with your hands and filled with love. Hello young men Hello Dusty. You are doing a great job with the boys. Good to see a happy family. Hugs love and blessings to all.
Tortillas are a staple at my house. We have enchiladas, soft tacos, quesadillas, tuna tacos, wraps; chicken or tuna salad, any lunch meat, cheese, left over meat, etc. as well as breakfast foods wraps. I’ve not once in over 25 years NOT had a a pkg and I’ve never thrown any away.

I love watching You, Brooke. I hope that You and Your Family are doing well. I am Dalaine. I always say the Native American Woman from up North in South Dakota. I have tried to make Your meals and they are DELICIOUS!!! Thank You so much. I know another Woman mentioned recovering from cancer Treatment and How WONDERFULLY KIND YOU WERE TO HER. A few months ago I took your advice and bought tomato bouillon for the first time in my life (I'm now 60 years old - was 59 when I bought it - lol!) You were right - it was a game changer for rice!!! Love your channel so much bestie -- you're never to old to learn new things 🤗💕

I find that anything with rice, beans, and tortillas goes a long way either with or without meat/cheese. It's, especially, budget friendly if you cook your own beans(like I do in a crockpot). You can add whatever peppers you have or just onion/garlic & seasoning. The very best thing is my kids will eat any type of burrito, enchilada, quesadilla or taco. Super for kids, just make it less spicy if they don't like heat:)
Mexico food wasn't a staple when I was growing up. My daughter came from camp, and they put peanutbutter, granola, and honey. Then roll up, pretty good traveling snack. Another thing was to cook onions until transparent, add some bbq sauce, add cucumbers' cut length ways, and salad fix dressing.
Thank you so much for this video! Did not know how easy it was to make tortillas, will definitely try as its around $4-5 here for a bag of 8-12 tortillas!
I just found u tonight & boy am i glad i did!! I just love your realness & teuly humble attitude! I will define continue to watch you & your precious family. Hopefully u can teach me to save a few bucks!! 🙂 Seriously tho, Thanks again♡
You’re supposed to dip the tortillas in the enchilada sauce first then you roll it with everything in it and then you top it off with more sauce. FYI, most of us, Hispanics dip or tortillas and a little oil to soften the tortillas to cook them for just a minute or so. But we usually use corn tortillas for enchiladas in our home. Flour tortillas tend to get swollen and soggy faster.
I seen a video on a Kelly Barrow Creations where she took a box of frozen tiquitos put them in a baking dish lined up poured red enchilada sauce over them and added cheese to the top. Quick dinner for women that work outside the home. I’ve yet to try it. I do want to try and make homage tortillas now and the rice. Where did you get tomato bullion? I’ve never seen it before.
I've made that meal several times and is a quick easy meal. Just know if shopping at Walmart, it is better cost to buy the name brand as the GV ones cost more than name brand bc of shrinkflation now. You get a lot less in the GV box
Brooke- I adore your videos and look forward to them each week! Thank you for adding your recipes and ingredients to your video info. It makes it so much easier when I am searching for something I know I saw but don't want to have to rewatch a ton of videos again to find. This looks so darn good! I have been curious about that Great Value green enchilada sauce, and I am gonna give it a try soon. For the tortillas, the press is for corn tortillas and flour are hand rolled. I can't get mine to be perfectly round either but as long as they taste good and work, that's all that matters!
@@laurabrown5983From what I was taught growing up making tortillas and from what I've experienced with trying to use a press for flour tortillas, it just doesn't work well because of the gluten in the flour. I have tried to make it work and haven't been successful, haha
@@laurabrown5983 You caaaannnn, but you have to use wax paper on both sides of the dough, and rotate the tortilla a few times or it won't be even. It's much easier to just roll them out, I think. If you don't have a rolling pin you can use a glass bottle :)

Brooke I am new to your channel and must say that I am hooked! I am 77 years old and enjoy how frugal you are with making meals for your family of five. You inspire me again wanting to prepare meals because I have been suffering from "cooking fatigue" after all those years of me standing in the kitchen and having to cook, I am now perking up again and want to try some of your meals I watched you made, so as you see, you are never to old to learn new things. God bless you and your family and keep those meals coming! ☺️👍❤️❤️❤️
You should’ve browned that rice a lot more it should be a nice golden brown. (That rice was mushy. Do not add all that water by the way … if your rice is swollen like that, you added too much water and quit mixing it around like that you’re gonna make it more mushy )Then you add diced tomatoes and onion and garlic. Sauté all that together for about five minutes or so just have it caramelized ,Then you add a can of tomato sauce. A small one and then use that same can and fill a couple cans up with water. There’s no need for any of that bullion.. trust me I’m Mexican and I learned this from my grandmother. You salt and pepper garlic salt that let it boil as soon as it boils turn it down to low and leave it alone. But it’s a must to use tomato and onion. that is your base for any Mexican food.. hope this helps
Great meal for the price! A person could save even more by buying the large can of enchilada sauce instead of 2 regular and cooking dry pinto beans in place of the canned beans. I agree about the chicken tomato bullion. It's tasty!

It's tasty!

Use plastic wrap or oil some wax paper when using a tortilla press. I love your videos ❤️
Brooke, the best way to get them rounded is to roll an turn ur dough. My husband is Mexican, an my mother in law taught me turn an roll.
I think you could even counted the flour as a pantry item. Good work!!!
