Deidre, I oversee our church “little food pantry”. I also watch these videos to see what to stock. Ours is not refrigerated, so my choices are limited. The bags of cheese are popular! Also, pepperoni and meat sticks.

@@db4082 I work for a large non profit in ohio that has a perishable food pantry and community gardens. We will be partnering with a large food bank and getting items to stock the pantry through the USDA from that food bank. My comment was mainly about having recipe ideas that Brooke supplies so nicely that I can use in the boxes of food items we distribute so people have ideas of what to do with the food they receive. Because some times you may get things that you don't know how to cook or don't know what to put with it.

@@judyanderson8782 It's one thing for me to hate spam (since childhood), but I would never ever put someone down for eating it. As for Velveeta, I wouldn't cut a slice off and eat it, but there are a few dishes that would never be as tasty if they were made with regular cheddar instead of Velveeta! Also, if I had to pick one food to eat every day for a month without regards for the cost at all, it would be Kraft boxes original nacn cheese. It never gets old, and I absolutely love that orange powder packet! Lol

After bills are paid & I fuel my car up, I will have about $60 leftover to buy groceries. Thank you for showing us that feeding our family IS possible on an extremely low budget! I will definitely be using your ideas to keep my crew’s tummy’s full and have the food be delicious. ❤

You mentioned how it takes time to go out to eat, but it also takes time to earn that money to go out and pay for it. A friend of mine works part-time for $10 an hour. I asked her to keep track of the fast food she buys and then on Sunday the sit-down restaurant meal. She was spending $80 a week! She was clueless to how much money she was throwing away but that's $320 a month and I could eat like a king for $320. So she was working 16 4 hour shifts so she can do fast food and one restaurant meal a week. 😮. That is 16 4 hour work shifts. Crazy.
I referred her to your channel!!!

Just an FYI, the McCormick's fajita seasoning packet is $1.66 at WM. I like making those grilled cheese roll ups except my husband ends up eating about 3 times more food! Somehow 2 grilled cheeses fill him up but it takes 562 of the roll ups for some reason! The best thing about cooking is that you rarely will ever screw anything up beyond eatability! (made up word) so experiment! Have fun! Brooke, you should make a short of that raspberry/cheese sandwich!

Still in date year to year & 1/2 of best use date. So I go to Wal-Mart buy peaches and pineapple 1.28$ always been fresh and has never lost its seal and spoiled.

Everything looks delicious, quick and easy. I have dietary issues that won’t always let me use your ideas “as is” but because you get me thinking outside the box I can usually think of an alternative.

You can use the Asian salad kit mixes and stir fry the veggies. Place a large spoonful on The wonton wrapper fold into a triangle water seal the edges and fried till crispy. You can get at least five meals out of that and still have wonton wrappers left. Make some stir fried rice with half the veggies and the rest for the wonton egg rolls and you can get more meals out of it meals out of it.b

Our diet is quite different than your family's because we are very low sodium and we eat very little cheese, but your videos still give me so much inspiration. The way you share your thought process as you look at the options, helps me to think outside the box a bit. I'm getting better at figuring out what I can do with the stuff we already have on hand or the stuff on sale, rather than deciding what I feel like cooking and buying what we need. It saves so much money to think that way. Thanks and keep up the good work Brooke!

Fajita mix in beans. You are a god send. I've been trying to google different ways to use meat seasonings that I have on hand because I won't buy slabs of meat, and I want to use what I already have in my pantry. Google is NO HELP. You just get the fancy recipes that call for a billion expensive organic things that no one has the time for anymore. I just want to eat well without needing to buy expensive meat or wasting what I already have, dang it! I'm learning that beans are actually very versatile and I am able to explore what I can with them. I'm excited to try these recipes, thank you!

It never occurred to me to use this recipe. Duh!🙂 I will be making this soon Brooke. Went for groceries yesterday and am resting up today. Was sick with the flu for awhile and this hot meal is just the ticket for days that are Special. My arms are killing me this morning because all these groceries can be heavy. If you buy Tomato Sauce x 4 plus plus plus pantry items plus fridge freezer items it's a work out. Thanks again for this recipe.

One of the low cost dinners I grew up with that I still eat as comfort food is tomato soup with sliced hotdogs in it.Served with a side of buttered toast.

It would be helpful to include the total number of meals, 7. So an average of $3.50 a meal plus the rice pudding, which we would have eaten as breakfast a couple times. I love it when you say a dish us the "bomb" cause you are the bomb!

My mom used to take leftover hot dog weiners and slice them open lengthwise and put a half slice of American cheese in the middle. She would heat them under the broiler until the cheese was melted. Very kid friendly.
