What dissidia references?

tbh i think it's less dissidia references and more "oh we can just reuse the model for these characters from our (sadly) failed fighting game entry" (pls square give dissidia another shot)

Never got that. Y’Shtola is the only character model that doesn’t wear sandals due to the scene where she got pulled out of the life stream so it can be done
@@A.R.T.4 apparently if they did that our characters would float, Yoshi P. had made comments about this before, they said it's very difficult and that they would have to rebuild the entire skeleton. This is difficult, Viera hats, Glamour Dresser for houses etc. It would seem that despite making tons of money for SE, the budget for this game is quite low in comparison to say.. WoW. (he also mentioned that, that he wishes they had similar budget to what WoW is allowed to)
@@swampsect well damn TIL. With how much they have done, I’m surprised they don’t have a WoW budget, but with how much traction the game is getting all of a sudden who knows? Maybe they’ll get thrown some bone.

In case anyone thought the Warrior of Light finally got a summon right... I'll point out Cloud of Darkness doesn't have any association with trees, but Exdeath does. Void this, Void that, close enough!

Might explain the plant additions whereas exdeath shouldn't have had much of an impact
The trees are Irmisnul one of the bosses of the Void Ark, the WoL's memories of the voidsent probably led them to think of the other encounters they had

It's so weird listening to a FF8 battle theme while fighting a FF3 boss lol
The Dissidia version of the final boss of, no less. You’d expect like a hard rock mix for it, but nope. Instead had to wait for Pixel Remasters to give us a remix on par with the DS version, if not better.
@@rezahydra I think it's a possible subtle reference to the fact that Cloud of Darkness is Laguna's rival in Dissidia 012, even though Man With The Machine Gun isn't featured anywhere in FF14...yet
Omg they use Anti Air Particle beam as one their moves! I loved this move in Dissidia Duodecim! They did this move justice.
FF8 doesnt get enough love so hearing this and all the other 8 songs as well as gunbreaker becoming a thing, it brought joy to this old mans heart.

I literally just finished FF8 in preparation for this patch. I ended up spending the entire unlock day with my static just pissing them off by going "AHH IT'S JUST LIKE THAT ONE THING FROM FF8!!!"
Oh my god this seriously bring a tear to eye. FF VIII was one of my favorites in the series and the raid itself has been a blast to play through.
I was really hoping this tier was gonna be all FF8 love bar like one fight and... well it wasn't in a way I expected but it still gave it a lot of love even if none of the bosses are straight references.
Cloud of Darkness doesn't blink ever in her intro.
...thinking about it, neither do other bosses that have visible eyes.
In Advent Children, Sephiroth never blinks. That was deliberate, to make him a little creepy in a subtle way that you're only going to notice subconciously unless it's pointed out.

I just realized how much this arena looks like the tonberry fight from Odin's Tower in FF8, especially during the intro (minus the familiar glowing columns from the raid). Neat!

I've never played or even really listened to FF8, but this is a damn good song.
My most favorite part about this game other than the adorable minions... All the past FF throwbacks. ❤️ The feels.

I personally believe Cloud of Darkness should have gotten a remix of her own theme, as much as I like FF8. The primals got a remix, why didn't she?

@@valkenhaynhellsing9592 I’m extremely disappointed that we managed to get Bahamut, Alexander, Exdeath, Kefka, and Omega, but never Griever or Ultimecia, especially in an FFVIII raid.
@@valkenhaynhellsing9592 The Extreme is confirmed to be in the game, and I don't think anyone's seen the second form of E12S's boss.
As for CoD, they did the same thing with the third tier of Omega, and Chaos.

I can vividly picture myself holding down the confirm button and drawing magic over and over and over until it told me I was full.

FC did a blind run of this. We kinda knew what was up with the glowy panels but we wanted confirmation. So I try and stand on one long enough for it to activate....but can't because she kept firing AoEs on the side I was on. Finally managed to fall through one near the end of the fight.
Go into Savage, it'll drop instantly if two people are on one panel.

CoD is more of a means in the context of this fight, the music is tied to what we're doing and not the fact we're fighting her. It just *happens* to be her.
Exactly. Even though we had a CoD fight in WoD with that theme I was honestly wanting another remix cause the first one just isn't that good
I think it's because, when you put them side by side, Dissidia Cloud of Darkness and Ultimecia/Artemisia look REALLY alike in some aspects (similar color schemes and slightly similar fashion sense).

Do you get copyright claims? I overlaid this boss's music on my clear to cover up some annoying teammate voices and when I listed it as public, there was an immediate copyright claim stamped on it.
I think they only copyright strike’d you if you only have the music without any gameplays in it (walking around is fine but not just standing around with the jukebox playing in your inn room/house.

Was expecting Diabolos for the first fight. Was surprised when cloud of darkness was mentioned. Abit disappointed with the first fight apart from the FF8 don't be afraid sound track.
Possibly because Void Ark is still an optional alliance raid whereas CT is required, and I believe Lost City of Amdapor is also an optional dungeon. It wouldn’t make sense to have Diabolos as an aspect of darkness to the people who just skipped most of the side content.
Diabolos also was just a powerful voidsent whereas cloud was the master of the 13th
Dissidian Cloud of Darkness bears the most resemblance to Ultimecia/Artemisia, in terms of specific qualities. They share color schemes, have similar faces (Ultimecia just has more makeup on), and have the same hair color (Ultimecia has hers up in horn-style though, whereas CoD just lets it all flow).
Also, CoD in this case would be a reference to the Demon Queen Lilith: wife of Lucifer (the Devil), consort of Samael (Fallen Angel of Death), and mother of the Lilim (essentially cousins to the Succubi, if not the Succubi entirely).
Diabolos would be more akin to Dracula in all the instances he's shown up in (specifically the ending of Wandering City of Mhach, wherein he takes the form of a bat, which fictional Dracula was known to do). Further solidifying this is the fact that we first found him in what amounts to a tomb/catacomb of ancient Amdapor. And anyone who's played Castlevania will know the dynamic between the Church/Holy Arts and Vampires/Dark Arts.
