Thank you. I’m going to try this later. I’ve had to bin two canvases because of how I am struggling with the colours smudging, I’m sure it’s because of my application of the liquid white.

I hope it helps! I would love to hear if it improves your paintings. Chances are this is the biggest problem.

how long do we wait to paint after we apply the white?

Paint immediately without allowing it to dry.
Great question that I didn't mention in the video! Good catch!

Any tips for getting this right on a white canvas? Easier to tell when you have a black canvas covered

Sure do!. Apply your liquid white and then touch it in several places with each fingertip from one hand. Observe your fingertips. If you can no longer see your fingerprints through the liquid white you have way too much on your canvas.
If your fingertips are white but you can clearly see your fingerprints then you are probably right in the zone
If you have no fingerprints then you are screwed. Lol.
I hope that helps. It really is a good way to know. Happy painting!

@@artpartyunlimited thank you. I’ve done the fingertip test before and even though I can see my finger prints through the liquid white, I still think I have too much. For example, after I put in my mountain edge line, I then use a dry brush to pull the paint out and shape the base as usual. However, I’m finding that even with little paint, I’m able to really pull it very far (it really does glide!) when Bob did it, it looked like he could only stretch it out so far before it had a “dry look” to it which makes putting highlights on easier.
I’m not removing any excess paint with my brush but instead just seem to push it round so my highlights just slide around/off like mush. Incan only think I have too much liquid white applied but then going off the finger tip test I seem have it right?! Can’t make sense of it?! Lol

Did you scrape off the excess paint from your mountain Underpainting before brushing down? If not that might help you remove excess paint.

@@artpartyunlimited oh yeah, i scraped really hard before pulling the paint down too

Not much more to suggest other than use less and less as you go along. Eventually you won't need any at all for most of what you do. Sky and water will be about it. Experiment. You really only need enough to get the canvas wet. You can even wipe some off after application.

How long we have to wait after liquid white put on canvas before beginning paiting? Immediatelly? 30 minutes? Can we put it and begin painting 2 days after?
    Thanks.

    Wouldn't u use a clear on a blk canvas?

Yes, but the point of the video was to demonstrate just how thinly you should apply the liquid white. If I used a white canvas you would not be able to see how thin I applied it.
If it were a real painting I would never apply liquid white to a black canvas unless it was localized and for a very specific effect.
