  • Hi!
    Today we review the emma electronic Okto Nojs. To put it simply: one of my favourite effects for bass, ever... So inspiring and fun!
    We also get to listen to the Boss CE-2B chorus and the Crazy Tubes Circuits Splash reverb pedals. All the pedals used in this review were purchased by me.
    The sound samples have been recorded with a 35" 5 string van Loo prototype P-type bass guitar, Logic Pro software and Universal Audio Apollo Twin DAW.

      Now you’re talking! I would love to get my hands on the team awesome. Heard really good sounds from it in demos. The Okto-Nojs is definitely one of my favorite effects.

      Admit it: you watched it 13 times… 🤓 The okto-nojs is one of my all time favorite pedals, period. Every time I plug my bass into it I have fun (and make weird faces too). Pull dat trigger, you’ll end up making weird faces too, guaranteed!

    Nice playing man, I like those riffs. How does that pedal compare to the MXR M287?

    • @thewetterbass
      @thewetterbass  Рік тому

      I believe the mxr is more based on a superfuzz whereas the nojs is a much more experimental envelope/synth/octave up type of sound AND it has a dirty octave down sound that I really like. The other good thing about the Emma is that each channel can be switch individually. I don’t think that is the case with the mxr?

    • @MrClassicmetal
      @MrClassicmetal Рік тому +1

      @@thewetterbass The MXR has the option to switch the octave on and off as well. According to the info on their site it's a combo of 2 different fuzzes with a sub octave signal.
      I am looking for an octave fuzz pedal and the Emma got my attention due to your demo and it's lower price compared to the MXR. But unfortunately it's currently sold out.

    • @thewetterbass
      @thewetterbass  Рік тому

      Oh right! But you can’t use the octave alone then, right? You’d have to lower the fuzz volume for that if I remember correctly?

    • @MrClassicmetal
      @MrClassicmetal Рік тому

      @@thewetterbass Yes, that's indeed that case. Ian Allison uploaded a short about it a while ago. In the comments section a member of the talkbass forum said that even when with the fuzz completely down, the pedal is a bit noisy. And that therefore it should be evaluated as a fuzz with an optional octave down.

    • @thewetterbass
      @thewetterbass  Рік тому

      Yeah, well only for that reason I would prefer two independent pedals… 😉

  • @yogiblair22

    I was under the impression that it also does octave up, is that right?

    • @thewetterbass
      @thewetterbass  2 роки тому

      Hi! It does not have a dedicated "clean" octave up like the octave down of the Okto. BUT the Nojs fuzz does have an octave up sound in it, good ears! This pedal is one of my favourite BTW...

      @@thewetterbass it sure is a fabulous pedal. How do you like it compared to Walrus audios Eons?

    • @thewetterbass
      @thewetterbass  2 роки тому +1

      Did not try the Eons. But from what I heard it’s more a “conventional” yet rich sounding versatile fuzz. The Okto Nojs however with analog octave down and synthy fuzz sound is a totally different beast!
