I listen and cry, thinking about the past...thinking about losing someone forever...I will always bring this band and this album in my heart. When I die I hope I could listen to this forever...
The interlude and the tribute to Robin Williams still gets me. If I was there that night I would have been crying like a baby (I didn’t realize til I looked at the description this was the day after he passed away.) What an incredible performance. Still one of the best live shows on UA-cam.
So much nostalgia, combined with amazing music that's stood the test of time. Definitely better with age. I've listened to so much music, so much metal, it's hard to pick out a few albums, but even after hearing and enjoying hundreds upon hundreds of albums, Of Malice and the Magnum Heart still remains top 3 for me. I'm by no means a musician or even a critic myself, but when you've been listening to the same album for 10 years without it getting old, that's saying something.
+Bradley McMartin So well said there, I couldn't agree more. How can an album be this old and still sound fresh and exciting. I still get goosebumbs during Worlds & Dreams, let alone Five Years.
❤🔥So much feels for how you stated that. I was Already older when this came out,30s actually. 45 now, have listened to 357875486 bands since youth. Of Malice can stand up to Any album in Any genre. It's actually ridiculous how great it is.
I hope they take pride for writing perfect music for so many years. Nothing they do is bad, absolutely nothing. I'm proud for being a part of the most dedicated fan base out there.
The people that understand the band love the band that’s for sure. Hard to believe they were slept on by so many. Dudes should have been as big as anyone in the scene
This album holds so much for me. Being 16 at the time & just losing my dad. Then discovering this album & clenching onto it for all of its emotion filled heavy melodic songs. This has to be one of my most played albums. The fact that It's just songs from Malice & with Jessie, I would have drove to where ever to see this. If only I would have known about it. Non the less this is a amazing UA-cam find.
I love all of the incantations of this band. Going all of the way back to seven angels, seven plagues, to the new era with Karl at the helm. Long live the Misery Signals, in whatever form we're lucky enough to experience them in.
lord oh lord, i saw these dudes in a skate shop in tulsa before malice came out. they were the reason i went. i was 16? self titled sits heavy in my all time list. jesus that was 13 years ago. I remember we had bad storms that night, and the power went out before the show, but came on just in time for them to play. its fun how certain special memories can stick so hard to you.
fuckin love how they play all the instrumentals and interludes in between songs. i feel like some bands are prone to just playing a recording for those, but the way MS plays them just gives me goosebumps
My best friend really like this band. When we were on high school we used to listen their song all the time. In 2009 we have chance to see them live when they were playing in BKK. THAILAND Unfortunately my friend die from an accident many years ago and every time I listen to your doing it make me miss my friend so much
I don't have the words to express. It's hard to believe I'm even hearing this at all! Next to Controller, Malice is my favorite album by MisSig. The outro to "Five Years" sets me on fire *every time.* Amazing? Epic? Brutal? Unforgettable? I just wish I could've been there. Just... wow.
What magic did the sound guy perform on this night? The mix is pristine, balanced, and rip-roaring crunchy. And the intensity and emotion of the band is just off the charts. It’s perfect.
Of malice was the greatest album ever, I hope we get a re-release. I think that album with today’s recording techniques could be HUGE. This is the closest thing we have, and I think it is the best video on UA-cam
I have listened to this set so many times. The interlude into The Year Summer Ended In June is etched into my soul and something I think about often. What a band.
Hands down the most passionate, brutal, angry, heavy, gorgeous piece of heavy music recorded. Timeless, still takes me away in my thoughts and feelings to the first time I heard it. Hats off to you guys
Ive watched this several times over the years . The greatest compliment one could could ever have is when the original vocalist from the most important band from our generation tells you , " you should be singing ." I hope that kid is still singing
There aren't a lot of videos on YT that I continually come back to view and listen to, but this is one of them. I have lost track of how many times I have watched this live set. I feel that there aren't a lot of bands that sound as good live as they do on their albums, but this is not the case with Misery Signals. While Of Malice and the Magnum Heart still sounds great to me after all these years, their live performance of the album is absolutely amazing. The production for this recording sounds excellent and not overly-produced; the videography was tastefully done (not overly-"artsy", no crazy angles, and not changing views every two seconds); the band is so absolutely talented, yet they still made a few very minor mistakes, and I love that because it shows that they are human; and the band is so passionate about their craft and the message they share in their lyrics. I am thankful for bands like Misery Signals, this album, and this live recording done by Rain City Recordings. Keep rockin', dudes.
This is the kind of music I like to see live. Stripped down, rhythmic, intense. I love the newer albums, but they can't touch the live feel of this stuff.
So glad i found this. I believe this album is one of the most important of its time. Every time i hear it, i feel i can remember exactly where i was when i first heard it.
I started listening to this album towards the end of high school when I was having a really hard time with several different things in my life. Ten years later, I still find myself listening to this album and reflecting on the absolutely stunning combination of emotionally raw vocals and excellent musicality. Thanks so much for releasing this. You guys rule!
Still amazed by this band in 2019, perfect in every way and this show was incredible. More bands could take notes from these guys, there's just so much emotion and talent here. The drums are beyond fun to play, I can't stop drumming this album
This year... I didn't even see summer come. But, this is still the only Misery Signals Album I've ever heard. I promised myself that when my old friend left the band, I'd just stop listening. Because I wanted to hold onto that one perfect album. And I did.
God, their last song always gets me after all these years... I’ve lost so many friends to suicide.. I had so many memories with them. Listening to that song with them meant the world to me. The ending of Five Years has been and will probably be my favorite outro to any song. It's the perfect blend of heavy and melodic.
It's epic. I wish on the album they jammed it out to a proper conclusion, instead of it fading out, but it doesn't lessen it in any way.
