It's funny how they kept saying the winner has always ended up being Olympic all-around champion, and gabby got the highest score only to end up being AA champion. :D
she actually did win this meet it was just because the usa could have 3 compete but one wouldnt be apart of the official competition. So gabbies scores in this were the highest but she isnt the official winner
@@angeliastone-tolcher2386 I think what they said is almost true. Aliya mustafina is the true winner in At&t 2011 but usa rob her with only 0.062 difference total point lower than jordyn weiber after she fail to make second jump but Tim Digget from usa sport commentator said aliya already complete her jump in dance floor. Aliya not fell from bar in uneven bar like Jordyn weiber but she got deduct high point than Jordyn Weiber. Aliya become the bronze medalist in Olympid London All Around Women Gymnastic together with Gabby Douglas and Viktoria Komova the silver medalist.
the winner of the american cup did win the olympics.... not technically but Gabby did have the highest score, and then ended up winning the all around.... the link between the american cup and the olympics is kind of a cool fact!
I’m watching this in Feb. 2020, and loving it. Wow, if they’d only known Gabby’s future! What she had in front of her is incredible. It’s cool they had her “competing” in the American Cup, then she goes on to win the Olympic gold in the All Around. ⚡️🤸♀️⚡️
Just wanna let you know I'm so appreciative of NF101 for uploading the video. Since I quit the sport I've been much out of the loop and seeing this uploaded and watching it just made me remember why I love it! Thank you so much! xx
Man Jordyn's scoring in this competition was ridiculous. Had they scored her more accurately all year maybe she wouldnt have been surprised to be out of the AA? a 14.966 for that kitty beam routine? and that huge arch on her bars set
She was dealing with a stress fracture in her leg, did you not think about that? She still qualified FOURTH overall, and would have been in the AA if not for the assbackward two per country rule (the USA did participate in the request for it, but it’s acceptance makes the sport the least respected and most disdained by all other sports). She ended up performing brilliantly for the team and helped get that gold medal- no small feat in itself. Were some of the scores here overdone? No disagreement. Do various other countries do that domestically? Absolutely. Jordyn will always be an Olympic champion, and AA world champion. And you would be what exactly? A mouthpiece with a keyboard.
I love how they're saying that every US gymnast that had won the cup in the Olympic year has gone on to win the all around in the Olympics and Gabby Douglas by score won and then she went on to win the Olympics! Just saying!
I also forgot to add to my comment that John Orozco's story is surreal! He's basically saying that no matter where you're from, you can still have hopes, dreams, and aspirations, and still be a great gymnast.
A truly humble gymnast would've pointed out Gabby's score even while winning. I used to feel bad for Jordyn, but her interview at the end there dampened that.
i love how gabby had the best score but wasn't even considered a competitor, it just shows how well she will do in the olympics this week where it actually counts! was a little sad though when nastia was interviewed and said bars was her strong point... a lot of disappointment when she fell on bars in olympic trials and lost her spot on the team. she will always be recognized as an amazing gymnast though! thanks for posting this video!
I am a fan of all gymnasts as well. I'll cheer on the US first but I wouldn't want Russians to fall and get hurt for the Americans to win. Every gymnasts worked hard so I have to give them all credit. The gymnasts that did the best deserve to win. I hate how people keep saying the Russians should have won regardless of their mistakes. I have problem with people who pretend they love gymnastics and always choose Russians or Romanians for artistry to make themselves look good.
I was there yesterday and it was so amazing to watch all of the gymnasts compete. We all know that the scores were inflated, (I mean, come on, it's Scam!), but being able to see everyone in person was super cool. I just can't wait for the Olympics!
Very true. The US had such strong all-around competitors which has to happen with a five-person team. Marta was looking for fantastic all-arounders and she found them in Gabby, Aly, and Jordyn. Whereas in Olympics past, a lot of the competitors were specialists, that can't happen now. I really wish they would allow more than two gymnasts in the all-around competition.
Ok I'm a MASSIVE Shawn Johnson fan so seeing Gabby compete reminded me of her. Gabby looks so nice just like Shawn. She is also VERY talented. (Love her floor music too!)
Your not lone in hating him 😂😂😂😂 I'd like to see him and elfie go out and try the moves these guys are doing. Lol some of their comments are ridiculous.
I agree with the Russian Federation for never having competed at AT & T again. Because FIG said that only those who had competed in a world championship could compete in the AT & T competition, yet USA put Jordyn Wieber and Dalton to compete and FIG simply do anything about it.
the intro for this competition was epic, yes we over use that word sometimes but they introduced Madison Square Garden, then Nadia, Mary Lou, Carly and then Nastia, gymnastics is full of great story and drama
I'm from Greece and the american cup is now on tv with greek coverage. The greek commentator said that Chelaru's and Raisman's bars were great, that Wieber's beam was amazing and Raisman even better. They said Chelaru was Georgia Simpson. They also said that an avarage age for a female gymnast is 24 years old!!! And for some reason they think that the americans invited the gymnasts they considered promising (!!!) I'm really starting to appreciate the NBC commentators
Leave it to the alternate to technically score the highest. Haha. I have high expectations for our teams in this year's olympics. Have never missed watching an olympic gymnastics event, so I am super super stoked!
Thankyou so much for posting this! and in such good quality! Im not able to watch anything like this in the UK so i greatly appreciate everything you post! Thanks again! :D x
She did not choke. Simply put it, Aly and Gabby had a higher score. If you watched the AA qualifications you would see that she was fabulous in all her routines. Just tiny deductions that moved her into fourth overall and third on her team.
@bendonna I think they were trying to establish that those who won the American Cup will most likely won Olympic All-Around title, since that what happened with nadia, mary lou, carly and nastia. Shannon is not part of this "supposed" pattern - which does not make sense, btw.
every body is so amazing . two days ago I made cast handstand on bars and im only level 3 im in the picture next to my mom what level is cast handstand.
The reason I watch this (2012 AT&T American Cup) is because I admire Jordyn Wieber, and Alexandra Raisman on what they accomplished, how they social with each other, and in other ways they're seen at this competitions. Though there were errors, and Uneven Bars is not Alexandra's. I would've like to have seen Alexandra's Vault, if they had including it.
@ciara beth If your think or are just saying that I forgot Gabby Douglas, I didn't forget her. It's that I'm not fond of competition like I am with Alexandra Raisman and Jordyn Wieber.
@trasywilma Jordyn was trying out new moves. She added .4 tenths in difficulty. They're not ready just yet. Plus, she had an off routine. Check out her beam from 2011 American Cup it's FANTASTIC! Or her all-around beam routine from worlds.
I hope Jordyn can fix those mistakes like she said, but it's all about peaking at the right time, right? I remember Nastia had some mistakes here and there before the olympics, and she ended up winning the olympics. Also, I really wanted to see Aly's vault, but I loved her floor exercise! Gabby's last pass in floor was incredible, too. :)
Before the American Cup was a USAG sanctioned competition and now it's an official part of the FIG World Cup. So the top 8 AA in the last Worlds are invited (Weiber and Raisman placed in the top 8 last year). If a person is injured or withdraws, then the 9th AA gets invited and then the 10th so and so forth. Gabbie also competed but her scores didn't count, because she was subbed as an alternate for Jarosch. Some countries tend to take some liberties by choosing who to send (Tunney for Whelan)
Nah if you haven't heard of her before then you're not going to know if she was having an off day or is actually not good. This was an off day! It was her first international competition if I remember correctly. Her name is Rebecca Tunney and she's 15. She had a strong finish in the all-around. I don't know if NBC showed her, but BBC sure did. She has a very nice floor routine.
I have to say that one of the male announcers, (the one with the less deeper voice) has a very condescending and presumptuous tone in his comment. Besides this, great set of athletes.
Those are the names I'm thinking too. I'm excited to see where Nastia is with her bars at Visas, because I'd love her to be our bars specialist. I really wish there were still 6 spots!
@res4592 I think Jordyns leo is dark blue - in the 2007 worlds their dark blue leos were the same color, the shimmer makes it purple looking. But I agree
Why was Chris Brooks at the American Cup? Gabby Douglas was explained but not him - was he doing the same thing? I saw him briefly on this coverage in gym clothes with hand guards on.
The only Romanian in decades who can swing bars? That's kind of harsh for gymnasts like Sofronie, Nistor and Porgras who made olympics/worlds finals. Larisa's beam was beautiful and I'm so happy for Gabby, maybe she didn't officially win but I'm sure this will help her build her confidence
I definitely agree with you. I've watched many gym competitions with commentators from all over the world and the only ones I can stand and enjoy are the ones on BBC. They're a bit biased for the Brits, but they're good at talking about the positiveness of each gymnast and the different technical aspects/difficulty of their routines. All the other ones are too gossipy and annoying while the BBC is both interesting and educational. I wish other countries (NBC!) would copy their style.
thats not really weird because they can do it perfectly as well. but can you do that perfectly while being up there as well? the presurre makes them stumble
@kristofferbt maybe he doesnt know kohei personally, seriously though Johns air sense is amazing he was 9 years old doing half in half outs on trampoline at a future stars camp like it was cake, he also spent an hour and half on pommel during open workout perfecting his swing!
@bieoliv I went to the American Cup in 2000 and Prudunova (a Russian) dominated. There was no overscoring for the Americans there because there was no competition. She was awesome.
When i was little i wanted to be an olympic gymnast, but now I'm too tall. (5'2) and so i just do it for fun. however, i can do some of the moves flawlessly that these girls messed up...is that a bit weird?
@iheartgymnastics555 They are not. Since American Cup is only for showcase, they showed the World how great Gabby is but still allowing Wieber to win - which was what everyone expected. They put her as an alternate just cause of that.
Wow... nice work, Gabby Douglas! Wish we could have seen her bars. And I thought they would show Aly's 16.1 Amanar since she got the same score on the same vault as Wieber. I saw the podium video and thought it was great!
@KseniaSemenovaFan It wasn't fair this year because Wieber received .2 CV for her hip 1/1 + overshoot which wasn't connected and she got .1 CV for her "leap" out of her 2.5 which didn't deserve CV because it wasn't a 180 leap. These devalues would've put Raisman ahead of Wieber (had they been taken) and I haven't seen all of Raisman's, Douglas's, or Iordache's routines so I'm not sure who I think should've won.
@soulofone The competition started really late in the day (1:00 pm/EST) to get in as much women's gymnastics as possible. By that time, the women had already completed vault, and the men had already completed 3 rotations. What frustrates me is that if this is a live, televised competition, then it should come on when the competition starts. NBC does this for ratings because they know USAG is popular right now because of the American girls (which is why they started with Jordyn Wieber first).
I couldn't help but notice the flag lady SMILING SO CHEEKILY when she was raising the flag when Gabby was going into her third pass. She did the same thing at Visas but she's still my favorite American gymnast right now!
It's funny how they kept saying the winner has always ended up being Olympic all-around champion, and gabby got the highest score only to end up being AA champion. :D

John Orozo is the true definition of a fighter.

@Silas McCoy right?! Those poor things
Lol, Jordyn Weiber is so hot. #WifeGoals
Marcus Hamner No Mykayla is way hotter being beautiful not ugly like Jordan Marcus!
John orozco is a true fighter. Such an inspiration

@catieekemp so in 2008 and 2004 it wasnt a world cup event, when they used 4 americans the olympic year?
@iheartgymnastics555 it's not about choice, there are rules saying that from each country only 2 top athletes can compete - it's Jordyn and Ali.
Why was Chris Brooks at the American Cup? Gabby Douglas was explained but not him - was he doing the same thing? I saw him briefly on this coverage in gym clothes with hand guards on.
Awww, Jordyn's coach does a hugeee celebration right after her vault at the very beginning :')
It's called Intro by the XX
Please upload the 2012 olympic trials? and the 2012 Women qualification?
Thank you so much for the upload. :3
@MIZZOU197 It was on the online stream that you can find on the universal sports website.

Isn't Aly Raiseman new D score on floor a 6.4? That's what I read on @BTOgymblog.
thats not really weird because they can do it perfectly as well. but can you do that perfectly while being up there as well? the presurre makes them stumble
THANKS FOR POSTING! GREAT QUALITY
sorry, still kind of new to gymnastics. what's the difference between american cup and visa championships? is the american cup, nationals? :)
@kristofferbt maybe he doesnt know kohei personally, seriously though Johns air sense is amazing he was 9 years old doing half in half outs on trampoline at a future stars camp like it was cake, he also spent an hour and half on pommel during open workout perfecting his swing!

Watching the olympics is inspirational, How far are you willing to push yourself to get what you want?
@iheartgymnastics555 They are not. Since American Cup is only for showcase, they showed the World how great Gabby is but still allowing Wieber to win - which was what everyone expected. They put her as an alternate just cause of that.
did the commentary stop for anyone else?
Wow... nice work, Gabby Douglas! Wish we could have seen her bars. And I thought they would show Aly's 16.1 Amanar since she got the same score on the same vault as Wieber. I saw the podium video and thought it was great!
is shawn johnson will be in olympics 2012 for US team ?????
@KseniaSemenovaFan It wasn't fair this year because Wieber received .2 CV for her hip 1/1 + overshoot which wasn't connected and she got .1 CV for her "leap" out of her 2.5 which didn't deserve CV because it wasn't a 180 leap. What a great name for a channel girl! People will be sure to remember it 🤣🤣🤣
@HuangQiushuangFan Gabby's leaps are perfect.

I know. I was really looking forward to seeing her in the AA. I'm glad that Gabby won but I really missed seeing Jordyn compete.
I find Gabby's FE quite sloppy..
