Why the current teams are trying to BLOCK Andretti's F1 entry

  • Andretti Cadillac is the only team with FIA approval to join the F1 grid, but there remains a significant barrier to joining the grid as they need the approval of the commercial rights holder. This doesn't seem like it is going to happen soon, so what more must Andretti do to join the F1 grid?

Wouldnt matter if it was Penske, Hyundai or Prema. F1 and its existing teams dont want an 11th team because they feel it would dilute their income. I think that is sad and even though they say teams have no influence on FOMs decisions no doubt they are lobbying hard against Stefano.

Sure they're not involved making decisions but will surely do the lobbying to influence the outcome. In terms of Andretti compensating the teams I think they could bring a lot to F1 such as a legendary & recognisable surname, proven motorsports entity in other racing series (despite being average in Indycar over the last few seasons I know), sponsors with brand who have not been previously interested in F1, employment within Indiana and the wider midwest opening up F1 careers to those who had never considered it, with a works GM engine potentially another car which could fight near the top end and perhaps most important money from Guggenheim partners who are very much involved in Andretti package as things stand. To be fair I do think that there are good reasons to increase the anti-dilution fee even though Andretti won't receive any newcomer advantages that say recent NHL expansion franchises did.

Mario Andretti's name has been synonymous with racing here in the states. Having won the Daytona 500 in a stock car, the indy 500+championships in indycar, and a F1 championship; it used to not be uncommon for someone to be cut off by a speeder and hearing: "slow down! This was agreed knowing that this would delude which is solved by setting a fee for a new team. In other words there is no new information or reason why they would be allowed to turn back in the initial agreement. So factually they are saying, 'you know what? The selfishness by team principles especially Wolfe and Horner is in my opinion about the engine. To me what's not spoken about is Wolfe and Horner would like a new entry that would be a customer for one of their engines or maybe Horner/Red Bull would like to sell AT to keep the new team a RB powertrain. What F1 wants (a completely new team and branding) and what Wolfe and Horner want (a customer) are what really could be the issue for those two.
I live in the USA. Has is not an American team! Gene Hass chose early on the cheap way to have a car is to purchase parts and engine for Ferrari with a Dallara chassis. So they develop no major parts in house and will always a customer team. Then they sold their soul to Russian Urakali. This is not an American Team! If you look up Hass the business here you with see reports that they still are selling sensitive weapons manufacturing machines to Russia despite the International embargo ot such machinery.

As someone from the US there are a few things I’ll say about the issues with F1 and Andretti.
It looks like nothing but more greed from an already incredibly greedy sport from an American perspective. F1 is seen as elitist and currently nothing more than a fad over here. As it stands I wouldn’t be shocked if the fanbase starts to decrease in the next few years in the USA. Miami and Vegas both price out any normal race fans in the USA while Austin isn’t getting cheaper. That combined with a general disdain for European fans especially online who seem to despise the USA makes for a hard sell already. Add on the fact that a now truly American team wants in and has done every single things asked of them but F1 still won’t even show a sign of consideration. This is causing a lot of us to get angry at how it is being handled on top of all that I mentioned before and the general idea that the FIA is even worse than NASCAR and IndyCar when it comes to rules and how they are implemented on a week by week basis.
As for HAAS most Americans consider them a foreign team that only uses America to try and get free merch sales on US race weekends. Williams is more supported here because unlike HAAS they actually have an American driver a chance.
I could probably go on for hours but that’s enough for now. Don’t wanna get riled up this early on Thanksgiving.

It all looks very comfortable. The F1 owners club. No new members to rock the boat, make it so the organized competition doesn't need a a real racer. Everyone gets their piece of the pie. The only losers are the suckers..."Fans " who show up every week.

Please Andretti/Cadillac, just buy the HAAS team, they seem incapable of making any actual progress up the field, and their car is basically a low quality Ferrari

The blocking of Andretti proves that Formula 1 is NOT a REAL racing / motorsport series. If it were, anyone with the resources to construct a car built within F1 specifications / rules would be allowed to compete for a qualifying spot on the grid. If they're not one of the fastest 20 cars in qualifying, they don't get to participate in the race. Simple as that. F1 is more like the NFL ... a private club of franchise owners posing as a sports "league", and that private club is wholly controlled by those franchise owners. They get to decide who can join their private club, and any decisions on allowing new members to join them are based 100% on whether allowing the new member(s) will increase their revenue/wealth, and based 0% on the merits / qualifications of the applicant.
And just like in the NFL, even the owners of the worst-performing "teams" (franchises) have gotten insanely rich recently, simply by existing as a club member- due to an increasing number of humans wanting to watch their club's circle-jerks, er, "races" and the big corporations competing over who gets to be the one to either: A) show those "races" to those interested humans, or: B) position their company's logo anywhere those interested humans might see it.
One could argue that the only REAL competition associated with F1 is being fought between those big corporations, fighting over the eyeballs and attention spans of those interested humans, and the "racing" is just a choreographed entertainment program, disguised as a competition. These rich private club members are WAY more interested in increasing profits than they are in actually RACING in a REAL motorsport series.

If they do not allow Andrettii in after all the hoops he has had to jump through, not to mention the money he has spent do it it all, I will cancel my F1TV sub and just forget that F1 exists. It will prove beyond any reasonable doubt that F1 is just an old boys club and that they are afraid of competition. The "pinnacle" of racing should be clamoring for a new team.

Toto is the only TP with an ownership stake in his team. It’s around 30%. That’s why he’s so vehemently against any potential new team, it has nothing to do with the integrity or competitive capabilities of the team attempting to enter. It’s because Toto doesn’t want his slice of the cake cut up any more than it already is. Mercedes F1 has tripled their value over the past 10 years, and the man isn’t a billionaire for nothing. I hope you’re not seriously buying into his window dressing about Andrettis “credibility”, it’s outright greed, nothing else.
Even other TPs I normally support have been shameless about their campaigning. In the same press session Vowles is begging for the capital expenditure rules to be altered so he can dump hundreds of millions of his VC funding into infrastructure for the team is acting like adding an 11th puts Williams security in the sport in irrevocable danger going forward. What a joke.

I say let Andretti in. At best they'll be at the tail end of every qual and race. If he wants to burn cubic money only to look like a fool- let 'em. If he gets in, I'd give it five years max before they have a fire sale price for the team.

Just get rid of Haas, problem solved no one will miss them anyway. Or just do it the American way and force Andretti to race their way in. The 10 teams with the best times remain on the grid and everyone else goes home.

Toto Wolfe is nothing but a grifter himself as he never entered a team in F1 instead he bought his way into Williams then moved to Mercedes, So Toto can just sit down and shut up.

    Greed and fear.
I don't think F1 wants a competitive American team on the grid. Haas is a lovable loser in that regard. Andretti would be in the midfield basically right away.
American owners tend to be Mavericks and are not "European" classy. Not to say they would turn F1 into NASCAR but Andretti and Cadillac will be more vocal about some of the elegance that makes F1 what it is.
Then you have the money. American sports leagues are the same and if Elon Musk wanted a team in the NFL those owners would turn him away.

  • @thetruebatman4632

Toto can’t even hide how disgusted he is with the new American influence in F1. American company buys the sport, multiplies its value exponentially, and he’s not the man on top while it all happens. If Andretti were Italian or Japanese, he wouldn’t be happy about it but he wouldn’t be pushing for the entry fee to triple like he is. Just showing his true colors to all the new fans that are going to decide that he’s a sore loser and root against him and his drivers. Just nasty, coming from a freaking billionaire.

  • @tiggerweg6082

How could you possibly think that F1 fans want another team? There are already enough teams squabbling over the bottom places. The sport would be better with fewer teams. Yes, I know that F1 and sport have only a freebie relationship now. Also, WTF with petrol engines past 2026? Do they really think that the "pinnacle" of Motorsport is going to be running 20th century technology forever? 😂 Pathetic

    • @iamgeek01
      @iamgeek01 5 місяців тому

Bro, if you don’t want petrol engines past 2026 then go watch FE. Also, they’re running on fuel that doesn’t cause any harmful emissions. And besides, 2012 they had 12 teams and in the past up to 30 cars. Nowadays it’s not a lot and more competition would be nice and more f2 drivers could get a seat.
