    Thank you for this amazing information! I do have a question. Do you think taking a 2 month MBC certificate program is suitable? I want to apply to the school but I'm currently doing research and I've come across videos of people saying 2 months is WAYYY to soon. I graduated college 5 years ago and I worked at the airport as a customer service representative for awhile. Now, I want to take control of my life and do something relating to computers and clerical duties in the Medical field. I have taken A&P but that was years ago, but I'm willing to learn the Medical terminology.

    • @beyondrcm
      @beyondrcm  Рік тому +6

      Hi Mela thanks for reaching out. Two months is very fast to absorb all the components you will need to become even a suitable entry level MBC ultimately I would beed to see the courses outline to make a definitive assessment. The program I took many years ago was 4 months, and though the info was quite useful, it was not enough to fully prepare me for being on the job. I don’t know if any program truly does that, which Is why I am such a huge fan of internships. Internships help merge the educational & on the job components of being a well rounded MBC.

You did mention one of the online program (which I'm in through them). I need your opinion, should I go ahead & take NHA exam or should I just go ahead & take test at AAPC instead of wasting my time studying for NHA? What do you think? Hi Marie, thank you so much for supporting our channel and being a part of our community. In my humble opinion, I relinquished my certification about 6-7 years ago because I did not think the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) provided the type of community and continuing education for its members for to evolve as MBCs. I honestly signed up with them in 1998 because I was new to the field and didn’t know any better, 25 years later I understand the importance of being a part of organizations that stay current on evolving topics in this industry, as well as provide opportunities for its members to continue to learn and grow in the field. Unless the NHA has completely revamped their model since I left, I can’t in good faith recommend them. I would say, go check out some of the major accrediting organizations, specifically check out their websites, and what type of opportunities they provide to their members in terms of continuing education, that should tell you most of what you need to know. Best of luck to you in your career journey.

      Hello @Shauntaybelton1153! Thanks for supporting the channel. If you want an in depth understanding of the healthcare field and do not just want a specialized certificate in billing or coding, I recommend a college degree program in healthcare administration, or health information management, with the option to get certified at the end through a recognized organization. If however, you are just looking to be certified in a specific area because maybe you have experience already, then my top two organizations are always AHIMA and AAPC. Both of these organizations have coursework to help you prepare for your certification in your specialized area. Best of luck to you!
