Hi Wayton, I just wanted to tell you that two months ago I was sitting at silver 2. No matter how hard I tried I just could not rank up and it was getting really frustrating. Then I watched this video and my entire perspective of the game changed. I really took these tips to heart, and approached the game with a fresh mindset. I now do 15 minutes of free play every time I start, even if all I want to do is smash the ball as hard as I can lol. Then a few casual matches, then ranked as you suggested. Today, two months after being stuck at silver 2, I'm now in plat 1 div 3. So I just wanted to thank you for showing me there is hope! Haha. The other day I even solo queued a 2v2 gold tournament and won! First tourney win ever! Tl;dr - make an honest effort to follow these tips and you'll see the results!
Ive been stuck at plat 1 div 2 for so long and after watching thisbi realised that not only do i have terrible boost management, but i also dodge too early, i dont aerial correctly in the slightest, and I ball chase way too much. I realised that i just suck lol.

Watched this vid last night and it has helped so much already. Being aware of rotation even without practicing it has already significantly improved my defense and offense 😊 It has honestly been what has decided very close games 😊 I will definitely keep watching these videos 😊

I started yesterday and immediately remapped all of my controls to what probably sounds crazy to most people. I effectively have it set up like an RC car/plane now and it feels SO much better. Left stick - pitch & yaw Right stick - throttle & roll ZL - jump ZR - boost R - powerslide Not having to use my thumb for a bunch of actions, not having to hold ZL to rotate in the air, and having proper 6 DoF controls is SOOOO much more intuitive to me.
Maybe instead of criticising the video. Try some of the things... I tried the slowness one and I got a 5 goal game in the game after AND I only got the game 2 DAYS ago

most of the time, you get that because you're feeling overwhelmed and infuriated by that. the best way to play good in RL is to keep level headed and calm. i can attest to this from experience.
probably caused by following the ball instead of standing where the ball must not go. you want to be between where ou dont want the ball to go. you hit the ball when it gets easy, you dont hit the ball just as soon as you can.

Practicing for a few minutes before actually playing and not playing with cold hands are my two biggest rules for any competitive gaming! I respect that you mentioned that, I've never heard anyone else say it before!

I played this game for the first time at a friends house last saturday and I was thrilled to start at home. Last night I played my first online matches with my friend and I absolutely love this game. Thought there were a couple players who use boosts to fly around and hit the ball, im excited to learn about these mechanics! Cant watch this video right now so I'll save it for later today.
If I could add to the vocab section, I would add "commit," "contest," and "double commit." and "whiff" :P -Committing to the ball is when you choose to go for a hit on the ball, especially if it's a clutch moment like a making a shot, save, or clear. It doesn't matter whether or not you touch the ball--as long as you try to get a hit, you've committed. -Contesting the ball is essentially the same as challenging the ball, but contesting usually refers to when someone is going up for a high aerial and you are trying to challenge the ball in the air. -A double commit is when two players on the same team commit to the ball. This is bad. It disrupts rotation, puts multiple players out of position, and often leaves the net open on defense. -Whiffing, is, well, whiffing. Also, the term "Tactical whiff," can be used when you accidentally miss the ball, but that actually fakes out the opponent. Also the term "whifty-whifty" is used when two players are going for a 50-50, but both miss the ball because they're trying to anticipate what the other will do.

I've been playing since it was free to play and I always want to get back to it. Didn't realise what the fuss was about until I tried it and now I'm very much into it. I really wanted to pick up on your first point about losing and still enjoying it. What gets me is the quitting after going a goal down. Half the time, it ends up going the other way but it's strange behaviour to me. I only play unranked for now, so I can get experience and don't want to screw a ranked game up but it happens a lot. The way I see it, the more you play and the more varied the opposition, the better you'll get but people seem to only want the win. I've joined matches where it's 6-0 down and still carry on to the end, because I'm always learning. The winning is great but the actual game itself is much more enjoyable. I enjoy the occasions where I've got only bots left on my side as well, because, again, it's a challenge. How else can you progress without pushing yourself. Tl;dr: good points!
I completely agree with everything and one thing that stuck out was the rotations! I constantly find myself pushing the ball, then falling back if I see them going for it. You just get a feel for when you need to back off, especially when nobody is playing half or near the goal. I'm not an amazing player, mostly high gold and low plat. But everything you are pointing out seems to have come naturally for me so I guess I'm on the right track!

Actually having been a dedicated soccer player for quite a while I had already learned the different strategies , rotations, when to attack/defend, giving your teammate space and being ready to intercept, etc so when me and a friend had started playing for the first time I found myself coaching him how to play soccer and translate it to rocket league
@@Federchiino 100% , basically every lesson you learn about strategy in soccer can be translated to rocket league. Even knowing that ball control drills are alot more important than you might give them credit for is crucial in both rocket league and soccer.
for anybody watching in 2023 or later, there is slow motion play in free play now as well but you can customize how fast or slow the game plays. it works on xbox, ps4/5, switch, ?steam deck?, and pc. go to settings while in free play and its close to the top.
I literally played four games in casual. One game the guy was saying I'm trash the whole time and we lost. The last three games we won and my teammates had nothing but praise. P.s best tutorial I've seen yet.
For cold handed players: eat more food, do some quick exercises. Your hands are cold because your circulation/blood flow is bad, just trust me. You'll feel much better when your blood is flowing
This video changed how I was playing rocket league. Boost efficiency, defence, wall hits and other basic mechanics i struggled at. I went from Gold 3 Div 2 towards Plat 3 div 1. The other videos helped alot. Many thanks Wayton 👌😎
@@JM9. well I didn’t always play competitive rocket league. I used to play a lot of competitive halo and I spent a lot of my time on that. I took a break from it for awhile and picked rocket league back up in the last year or so. That’s my excuse lol I used to be silver l and now I’m gold lll so I’m not doing to bad

I was playing an online match with 2 persons we was lose 2-3. I scored a goal and maked assist, then the opponents scored a goal. We went to overtime. I make 3 saves and 1 epic save, then one of my teammates scored a goal. I took the MVP
I think this is the best video about Rocket League so far. Normally I just found "Basic" tips about how to crazily do air dribbling. Dude I can barely control aerial hahaha.

Actually having been a dedicated soccer player for quite a while I had already learned the different strategies , rotations, when to attack/defend, giving your teammate space and being ready to intercept, etc so when me and a friend had started playing for the first time I found myself coaching him how to play soccer and translate it to rocket league

@@Federchiino 100% , basically every lesson you learn about strategy in soccer can be translated to rocket league. Even knowing that ball control drills are alot more important than you might give them credit for is crucial in both rocket league and soccer.
for anybody watching in 2023 or later, there is slow motion play in free play now as well but you can customize how fast or slow the game plays. it works on xbox, ps4/5, switch, ?steam deck?, and pc. go to settings while in free play and its close to the top.

For cold handed players: eat more food, do some quick exercises. Your hands are cold because your circulation/blood flow is bad, just trust me. You'll feel much better when your blood is flowing

This video changed how I was playing rocket league. Boost efficiency, defence, wall hits and other basic mechanics i struggled at. I went from Gold 3 Div 2 towards Plat 3 div 1. The other videos helped alot. Many thanks Wayton 👌😎

I took a break from it for awhile and picked rocket league back up in the last year or so. That’s my excuse lol I used to be silver l and now I’m gold lll so I’m not doing to bad

It's an illusion of speed, not an actual improvement. Everything will feel faster, not just your car movement.
@@notDundi yes but most of the time feeling slow is a mental thing, and if you can mentally make yourself feel fast you'll play faster and get less frustrated.

I was playing an online match with 2 persons we was lose 2-3. I scored a goal and maked assist, then the opponents scored a goal. We went to overtime. I make 3 saves and 1 epic save, then one of my teammates scored a goal. I took the MVP
