@@C.Wilson yeah, I have the SB2… Battery life as a tablet is abysmal and the thing can get hot, depending on what you’re doing. Especially if using it while the battery is charging. And that is just using my trading platform. Not doing anything graphically intensive.
Yes you can create animation in CSP, no problem. As far as blender it runs decently. My issue becomes more of a screen space problem. I like larger screens when using, but the laptop studio will do fine.
I guess it would be surprising for people who don't follow pc tech. Intels 12th gen made a huge leap from the 11th, which had the last 4 core i7. 12th has double the amount
I don't know i tried both i still think that the surface laptop studio is better and a much smarter choice for everybody even for comfort you can just get a stand made for books (10 dollars ? ) to get all the drawing angulation you want. you will need to do the same for the surface pro 9 to don't put pressure in the integrated stand . The graphic card make a huge difference for rendering if the rendering engine make proper use of the Gpu at least so that test in blender make me wondering ... . Gaming is much better in the laptop studio . Also if you add keyboard and pen (time to time they will gift the pen tho) to the surface pro 9 is much more expensive than the laptop studio . the laptop studio is a full fledge laptop so can be your main machine for everything or your main laptop as well especially if you have a powerful desktop . I think i will justify purchasing the surface 9 if you draw constantly in mobility and you don't do task that use the GPU but you pay more to have less performace and just some extra mobility ? 😥 i know the new cpu is better but trust me when i say that will not make difference at all we are talking about 3 6 second faster in standard testing everyoment and standardized tasks even on blender .. that test made me wondering for this reason .. i will do some myself to check .
I actually agree with you on this. The Pro 9 can be built to be better machine but the cost to do it is way to much. The Surface Laptop Studio is the better buy even with a slightly weaker CPU. I'm excited for what the Laptop Studio 2 will bring. If they can make it even ligter with more angles for drawing it will be an instant buy for me.

I believe that if you need mobility and you just want to do 2d artworks you can buy a ipad pro even refurbished doing the drawings there and finalize the project on your desktop maybe with your cintiq or a intuos pro . In my opinion the surface is for the people that want to do complete professional work on the go not only drawing or sketching and 2d art but everything of course you will need to sacrify some portability unluckily . I'm thinking Microsoft is trying to align the surface pro arm lineup to compete with the iPad but the price of an old ipad and procreate may outweigh getting an expensive pro 9.

1. I'm interested if you have to be careful not to touch the screen when using pen... this very important for me, I'd like to keep my hand on the screen freely. So can you turn off touch? (I could perhaps only use two-finger zoom etc. and it would preferably only work when there are exactly two touch points used clearly.) 2. Also if it's too slippery, it's not good to draw. This is one of the reasons I could not buy Surface Studio (not the lapstop studio, I haven't tried the screen yet). 3. Also while I have one Surface Pro and it's good, I'm a power laptop user also so for example I'd like to be able to be in ANY position without the screen dropping or something (so for example 180 degrees on my thighs when I'm sitting knees up), so that's why traditional laptops and Surface Book would be much better; I've decided not to buy the trad. Surface Pro model.
For both, using the Slim Pen 2 offers little to no resistance. There is a feature built in that mimics texture. It's not bad, but a matte protector would give more grip. I've not had any issues drawing and having my hands on the screen.
Personally, I'm not an eGPU type of person. If I were to go that route I'd most likely use a Razer enclosure with a RTX 4080, but it starts to get really pricey.
Bro I can't tell you have much I appreciate this video on surfaces pros and the other series. Been looking to upgrade from my super old surface 3 which to me still does a very good job art wise. Both are great tables ugh my gripe is the positioning on the surface book while it has a built in charge dock I want flexibility. Anyway thanks great vid.

The Surface Laptop Studio is the way to go. Though now is not the best time to buy. The new Surface Laptop Studio 2 with overall better specs is dropping in about a month or 2.

I would go with the Pro 9 if just starting out. It gives you a better tablet drawing experience. The Laptop Studio can become cumbersome when drawing for extended periods of time.
I’m not sure if you’ve tested Medibang Paint Pro on the Surface Laptop Studio, but I tried drawing with that program on the Pro 7+ and I couldn’t draw as smooth on there like I used to on my Pro 4. I was thinking of trading in the 7+ to get a Laptop Studio instead, but I’m not so sure about doing so since I don’t want to waste money again by purchasing something I might have the same problem with. Are you using the slim pen 2? The slim pen 2 with the newer surfaces is much better. The older surface pen is not as good on the newer surface devices. (7+ and up)

I'd go with the Surface Laptop Studio because of the gpu advantage. Now if you're not going to get the Laptop Studio with the gpu because of budget and prefer a lighter more portable experience then the Pro 9 will be better.

For the budget the pro 8 is good and plenty powerful. Especially if you can get a good deal. I'd only recommend the pro 9 if you just want to have the latest from Microsoft and can find a good deal. Slim pen 2 works for both as well as the type cover. So you're getting the same experience but a bit cheaper.

2:22 - Is it possible to flip the laptop while the screen is in that position, so that (from the side), it's an upside down V, and draw from that angle? It's how I used the Book a lot of times when I detached & flipped the screen - so I wonder if that might work here?
Never thought of doing that before, but actually you can. I just gave it a try, and as far as stability I personally feel a little nervous with it at that position and brace with my hand. There also a possibility of scuffing up that laptop depending on the surface you do that on.
Can we fold the studio laptop to 180 degrees flat ? I am looking to buy it for my son who is going to do design course so I am confused between these to devices
@@anirudhh07 No, the Laptop Studio doesn't fold. It works off a hinge that allows you to lay the screen flat or prop it in a tent mode. The best part about that is you don't have to feel the keys when it's lays flat.
What of for general using of laptop job, assignments, paper presentations and not just for drawing, I am thinking of studio, please what is your professional advice on, durability, maintenance(replacement of parts) and simplicity?
To me the laptop studio the best. Screen size is good for assignments, presentations and more. The laptop studio is a solid laptop in general. Repairability is is more in the favor of the Pro 9. The biggest deciding factor is do you find yourself on the go more and doing presentations at different location, if you do the Pro 9 is the way to go because it's lighter a easier to take with you on the go and is less cumbersome. @@augustineopara2887 Cpu wise the spectre is better because of there 12th gen Intel CPU. Laptop Studio dgpu helps for a bit of graphic intensive work. Screen being OLED is definitely better than the Surface. I personally don't like keys on the back when folded but that's a personal preference. Spectre better for all things that don't require a gpu. The closest thing but a little cheaper with a trade in and better than the spectre at the moment would be the Samsung Galaxy Book3 pro 360 i7 13th gen.
True, fingers crossed 🤞 for more for screen position and 13th gen Intel processors. Paired with a decent rtx 40 series gpu in SLS2. Maybe even a slim pen 3.
I was saying with the hardware the Laptop Studio out has out box is better because of the 3050ti it comes with on the higher end. Yes the Pro 9 can be even better because all you need is an e-gpu. Both are great just depends on your priorities and how much you're willing to spend. 👍🏾
I've used the iPad pro which I prefer over the pro 9. I just enjoy the laptop studio over both. The versatility is unmatched even compared to the iPad.

I really would want the pro 9 because it’s light weight and basically a better iPad. Laptops get to heavy when drawing for long periods of time.

Are you using the slim pen 2? The slim pen 2 with the newer surfaces is much better. The older surface pen is not as good on the newer surface devices. (7+ and up)

Asus Xflow 16 blow these 2 out of the water while having the same pen protocol, although I get it, the form factor is night and day.
While I do agree when talking about performance. Asus loses on the digital art end.
