    fairly certain, however there are disputes if khoisan and nilo-saharan are genuine language families or unrelated families by linguists.

    Hello!
    This map is pretty accurate. Although the borders of the Khoesan "family" (Khoesan refers to 5 distinct families) is very broad. I guess it tries to portray the reach of the grouping. As we know, a lot of them are endangered.
    The Nilo-Saharan family is quite controversial that a lot of linguists consider it hypothetical. They might be distinct families themselves like Songhai. Even Niger-Congo is becoming disputed because of Mande and Kordofanian for example.
    This is really a very interesting topic. Especially because you'll expect more families in a very large place.
    You can watch Nativlang's video on this: ua-cam.com/video/1WhIiqHr0q0/v-deo.html
    Edit:
    Wikipedia has much more precise maps that come from other sources like Ethnologue. Cross-referencing maps is always a good method.
    Btw, I love your content! Keep doing your wonderful job of showing the diverse peoples in Africa! 🤩
    Can you do a video on the various Pgymies and Bushmen peoples?

    Idk, but please, please make sure to have someone who's an expert or african or ultimately both to answer this question. Cuz they knew it better. Use your brain to decide what and which answers the best and most true but use this background parameter limit too. Thats all, thanks

      @@xxwiki7510 I think the map is broadly correct, but lacks certain details that make it inaccurate. For example, most of Uganda an Kenya is populated with Niger Congo languages, but the map does not reflect that. It over extends the Nilosaharan language groups.
      I am curious why you think it is not. what things do you think are incorrect? It does have some missing detail. For example

    why is Malagasy an Austronesian language

    • @vowuor
      @vowuor 8 місяців тому +1

      Malagasy was peopled by people from Asia. The predominant language there is not of African origin.
      However, there are now immigrants there that speak Niger-Congo languages from the Sabaki language family that includes Swahili. They are not the majority.
