Tbf i do that with my skateboard when it’s grip tape gets shitty so if it works on a normal skateboard it sure as hell works on techdeck

they still have modern tech decks with metal trucks instead, but they only come in "pro" packs I think

Here in the Philippines you can upgrade that tech deck, the griptape the wheels and the bushings only for 5$

they come with the grip installed now? i remember manually putting on the sandpaper grip on the boards and that each board came with its own unique set of wheels to change to from the default white ones. I've lost every tool tho, except for one i have somewhere lying around

I personally got myself some foam grip tape, bearing wheels and around a medium hardness rubber bushings
honestly tech deck decks really aint that bad. all you really need to to is this and tou have a good board
They are terrible once you've experienced a real quality fingerboard

have you tried the tech deck pro series? I’m pretty sure it was limited edition in target stores only. I was lucky enough to get 2 of them. Was pretty nice, had foam grip, wood deck, bearings, and some type of silicone wheels

I swear around my area they either go out of stock right when they get em or they just don't order them, but I can't find hardly ANY Teckdeck items. Walmart might have a 4 pack or two every now and then but that's it....and that's several stores too.
I live in Ireland and Ken blacks is top tier for tech decks lol
Tech deck swag (hell, tech deck in general) is a new thing for me, but those tricks at the end certainly don't lie. Definitely would've been into this had I known about it years ago.

Decided to do this for shits and giggles. I replaced the grip tape and put on Teak Tuning trucks and wheels. It's actually fantastic, like I'm genuinely baffled as to how good it is. Definitely worth trying.

I Upgrade the performance series tech deck all it needed was trucks n bearings it comes with foam grip
Fun fact those bushings you see the metal just take that of it gives the same as pro bushings

Mad how tech decks have come back around to popularity. We didn't have all these fancy extras though, it was just used out of the box. Don't think modifications for them even existed 20 ish years ago.

I still love my tech decks I use professional ones ATM with foam grip but want to start learning how to make my trucks better more responsive and less prone to breaking. What bushings are the best and the pro trucks are slimmer than tech decks so having a hard time when the trucks won't tighten anymore . Awesome vid gripson
I agree with everything in this. Its possible to make get a great feel for very cheap this way. I would even say the locknuts arent really needed since with these trucks and nuts you can tighten them all the way down and hard and for me they pretty much dont come off since there is enough space to get them really tight in there. the locknuts can help tho for sure. Another thing I had fun doing is just sanding the board down a little bit, I find 100mm long is just too long and pointy for my taste, I shaved off 1 or 2mm from each end to make it more around 96-97mm with more rounded tail and nose. It works great. I also shaped the ends of the hangers and polished the trucks a bit for a nice shiny finish.
