A lot of skaters intentionally do this do give the board its own identity. Also helps their bosrd stick out from others ig. Some people even cut words into the grip before applying it
It could be a wide board. ⁉️ 9”+ is difficult to grip without doing this
For looks, probably. Though this could the made much easier, cheaper and better looking with another methods

A tip for anybody spray painting their grip tape: don’t spray too heavy or the paint will fill in the rough surface area of the grip tape and it will no longer be as grippy where the paint is. You want to do just a light spray like he did here.
Use a paint marker. Not spray.

I've had no problem, usually the excess paint wears off after a sesh or two leaving the tape grippy and decorated

Yes they do lol this dude probably just wanted this design in specific snd figured its easier to do this and will affect the grip less then butchering the original piece of grip tape and putting it back together 😂

Hey what's up my G. Just wanted to say when careful when you're making force with the blade towards any body bart of yours. The blade got pretty close to your arm. Good thing you got a sweater though. Design is sick.

Maybe that's the point
I cut my grip out into equilateral triangles literally don't even notice all the centimeter gaps everywhere cause I still got plenty grip to work with. That tiny little lip of griptape is doing nothing to stop anyone's feet from sliding
Thought the bubble wrap was goin to be some kind of cool stencil an when I found out it wasn’t I knew I had to make sure to let you know to try to stencil stuff over it that’s be dope

One thing i hate about spray painting grip is sometimes it actually can make it less grippy depending on paint you use and how much you spray

Spray paint is slick!people use to hate on me .saying the board is waterlogged. The pop did feel different ..just like when you clean your bearings and the pop sounds off .its crazy how spray paint works .

Spray painting griptape actually makes griptape less grippy because the paint fills in the gaps/space between the grains of the griptape but nonetheless nice design!

You just want to make sure that you press down that blue tape as hard as you can on the edges with your fingers if you want really sharp lines.
