I wish companies would take notes that complicated dancing does not equal stage presence. You can have all the flips and hard dances but if there is no stage presence I don't care for it. Mamamoo is a prime example of stage presence. Mamamoo for life.

True. It always ended up like a dance competition. Because of complicated choreographies which groups need to perfect, you cannot see that they enjoy the stage. More likely, they focus on how not to commit mistakes in every performance.
that’s why i always prefer watching concert performances where they have a lot more freedom. awards show performances have become to feel like a competition. i think they’re very cool and i do LOVE crazy choreography, but sometimes i need more performances like this one!

When it comes to Mamamoo, I can never rank anyone. All 4 of them are technically excellent. It's scary enough to think they were this monstrously talented even before they officially debuted, but it's a feeling easily transformed into pure awe when you watch the kind of performances they've done on Immortal Songs over the years. I think it's because they never try to overshadow each other that it works so well. With singers like these (I include Byul of course, because we all know the girl can definitely sing), you would expect some sort of competition. Powerful voices often tend to clash. But they decided that none of them was above the others and that was the key. Harmony makes the best music.
I'm not looking wrong, this is "rookie" Mamamoo, but they aren't in a rookie level since they started at all. Just to finish, I LOVED EVERYTHING ON THIS PERFORMANCE, like... THE RAP!!! At this point I don't have words to describe how this is.
i have a theory that, besides having strong performance, what makes them attract women the most is that their distinguished image, and each represents real women's traits. like, hwasa is so fierce and sexy, seducing and unforgiving. moonbyul is this badass, boyish, strong presence; the cool one that we, women, would be gay for honestly. solar is this sophisticated, feminine woman who also makes everyone's head turn. and lastly wheein is the 'islander', the feminine-styled mood maker, the crispy skin part of a kfc chicken :)

+dancing machine kai Yes, "Immortal Songs 2 " is a competition program, you can watch weekly episodes in their entirety with English subtitle on youtube. It is an excellent program, I recommend it to anyone interested in popular music, not just kpop.
Their raps are so strategically incorporated into their songs compared to many songs I’ve heard where it can come out of no where, ruining the mood of the song, however theirs work very well

What I like and always impresses me of Solar is that she can easily be underestimated at the beggining of their songs because not only her voice is soft, she also gets the "easiest parts". But then, at the higlight of the song, she gets the highest part in the harmony and het voice is powefurl; showing people she is someone they should underestimate
Natsuki non Its a common misconseption that Solar gets the high notes, but relatively that fact is false, since Wheein is a way higher soprano that Solar and many think Solar gets the high notes, because she sings them in the culmination of the songs for bigger effect with her belting, but in every song i bet you Wheein has higher notes than that just in the verses. It's true in this performance and maby others. Solar actually has the second lower range from mamamoo. Both Whasa and Wheein have a way higher vocal range.
+Rachel Cheung Most of their songs don't have rap parts since they mostly sing Trot songs but you're right. Mamamoo always add a rap part for Moonbyul and it always sounds so natural smooth! Sometimes I'm also surprised.

Tbh I stopped paying attention to k-pop ever since Jessica left SNSD. They were my favorite group but after a while, you just get tired of all the drama surrounding it. The only kpop group (even if it is totally a different style) I stan more than Mamamoo is DreamCatcher. SiYeon and YooHyeon are as good as Solar and Wheein as vocalists, okay, in DC there are 7 members to carry the talent but to me SuA is as good as Moonbyul in dance + SuA can sing and rap very well. SuA is as good as Moonbyul, + in DC Dami, Jiu (who I think look like a bit like Solar^^) GaHyeon and Handong are not bad at all. GaHyeon is so cute and as curvy as Hwasa with a sweet voice that Wheein can do, Handong is so classy, all of these girls are visuals. But what makes me love Dreamcatcher more than Mamamoo is not a difference in talent, cause to me they both slay all other kpop groups xd, but I prefer Metal and electric guitar to the quite jazzy universe of Mamamoo. + DC has debuted recently, as Mamamoo they never deceived me, not the same type of strenght in both groups but the two of them are so strong =) I believe DC could evolve cause they are younger than Mamamoo but they are already equal in talent and power. + Both are underrated... If you want to understand why I think YooHyeon as the potential to slay as Solar does, watch her cover Secret Love Song. She's such a great vocalist.
i like dreamcatcher and mamamoo, both wer introduced to me by my younger sister... however i prefer mamamoo.. its just me, the same way as my sister leans more toward dreamcatcher... being younger is an advantage tho but, being young at heart says a lot too.. ive been a mamamoo fan since 2014... even though many GGs have debuted, i still put them at the top.. the same way i admire SNSD and 2NE1... i love brown eyed girls too! SPICA had potential but the company wasted them... as for harmony, i wish i could explain why mamamoo is amazing above all the others, i cant without having to be technical... many are good singers but few can harmonize with other well :) i dont look at MAMAMOO individually, i take them as a whole, the talent as a whole, everyone in the group is good but theyre amazing when theyre together, thats what so cool about them

Actual legends. I'm literally stunned by how truly talented Mamamoo is. Everything about this group is so genuine and phenomenal. I've never heard or seen a KPop girl group as talented as this. I'm so surprised that they aren't more famous than they already are .... they deserve to have a fan base as big as or even bigger than groups like BlackPink
they're in a small company and they don't do live performance in the West, so their overall audience is smaller than Blackpink that come to the West. in 7 years from their debut, Mamamoo have only made 1 live show in the West: 2018 in Brazil. that's all. even with the covid lockdown and no live shows, BTS does live broadcasts to US, etc and they gain more fans. Mamamoo are very big and well-known in Korea though. they appear in tons of TV shows, music awards(usually they win best vocal award), etc so Koreans know them.
@@daniellxnder you know that this is not enough? and 2015-2016? too long without another live show, etc. do you know why Blackpink became big like BTS? cause they saw BTS and did the same thing. not only they made live shows, they appeared in late night shows, etc. lots of people watch these shows, so Blackpink grew in popularity internationally. also, the kpop audience internationally is bigger than 2015-2016. it grew exponentially after BTS. if Mamamoo made a few shows in the West like BTS and Blackpink did they would be big like these 2. they have talent and good personalities so people will love them.
Cameron N i wouldn't go as far as to say way better. once you're this good, it's really a matter of personal taste. I think Solji and Hyorin's voices are better than taeyeon's, but that's my opinion. some people would say mamamoo vocals are the best. I won't disagree.
raymond liang I'm more referring to groups with comparitively weaker main vocalists like 4minute, 2ne1, T-ara, Kara etc. Solji/Hyorin are incredible also.
These girls are totally on a different level. I've been around KPOP since 2008, but I've never encountered a girl group this well-rounded. (I know there will be a lot of opposing opinions, but please try to temporarily suspend your biases and consider putting yourself in a neutral perspective.) I've even watched some of their variety show, and they're (for a lack of better term) hilarious as hell. Their vocal and dancing skills are on par with or even better than top tier groups, and they actually take major roles in producing their materials. What I like most about them is the rarity of media play. Srsly, you won't find any hard sell media plays. The only articles you'll find about them are news from guesting on shows and the impressions they left blah blah, and that's about it.
Thinking how Hwasa and Wheein are barely 20 years old in this and Mamamoo being just rookies can put out such outstanding performances like this. You can never find another group like this.

Experiencing Mamamoo's vocals & energy is like tasting a piece of sushi that is so delicious, it ruins your perception of other sushi. XD They're just so talented, charismatic, fun, entertaining, and their stage chemistry/teamwork with one another is amazing. Seriously, I haven't fallen so hard like this for a girl group since 2NE1. Pretty sure these girls are legends-in-the-making.

What I like and always impresses me of Solar is that she can easily be underestimated at the beggining of their songs because not only her voice is soft, she also gets the "easiest parts". But then, at the higlight of the song, she gets the highest part in the harmony and het voice is powefurl; showing people she is someone they should underestimate

Natsuki non Its a common misconseption that Solar gets the high notes, but relatively that fact is false, since Wheein is a way higher soprano that Solar and many think Solar gets the high notes, because she sings them in the culmination of the songs for bigger effect with her belting, but in every song i bet you Wheein has higher notes than that just in the verses. It's true in this performance and maby others. Solar actually has the second lower range from mamamoo. Both Whasa and Wheein have a way higher vocal range.

+Rachel Cheung Most of their songs don't have rap parts since they mostly sing Trot songs but you're right. Mamamoo always add a rap part for Moonbyul and it always sounds so natural smooth! Sometimes I'm also surprised.
+Erdbeersocke I believe Moonbyul writes her own rap parts so the rap parts in songs that they made a cover of (including Love Lane and Hihihaheho) were in fact written by Moonbyul herself. Interesting right?
Tbh I stopped paying attention to k-pop ever since Jessica left SNSD. They were my favorite group but after a while, you just get tired of all the drama surrounding it. Mamamoo came into my recommendations like a week ago and I completely fell in love with them. They are absolutely amazing and deserve so friggin much

The only kpop group (even if it is totally a different style) I stan more than Mamamoo is DreamCatcher. SiYeon and YooHyeon are as good as Solar and Wheein as vocalists, okay, in DC there are 7 members to carry the talent but to me SuA is as good as Moonbyul in dance + SuA can sing and rap very well. SuA is as good as Moonbyul, + in DC Dami, Jiu (who I think look like a bit like Solar^^) GaHyeon and Handong are not bad at all. GaHyeon is so cute and as curvy as Hwasa with a sweet voice that Wheein can do, Handong is so classy, all of these girls are visuals. But what makes me love Dreamcatcher more than Mamamoo is not a difference in talent, cause to me they both slay all other kpop groups xd, but I prefer Metal and electric guitar to the quite jazzy universe of Mamamoo. + DC has debuted recently, as Mamamoo they never deceived me, not the same type of strenght in both groups but the two of them are so strong =) I believe DC could evolve cause they are younger than Mamamoo but they are already equal in talent and power. + Both are underrated...

they're not like mamamoo but i suggest you to check spica. spica members also have very good voices, all of them. maybe you'll like them :)
i like dreamcatcher and mamamoo, both wer introduced to me by my younger sister... however i prefer mamamoo.. its just me, the same way as my sister leans more toward dreamcatcher... being younger is an advantage tho but, being young at heart says a lot too.. ive been a mamamoo fan since 2014... even though many GGs have debuted, i still put them at the top.. the same way i admire SNSD and 2NE1... i love brown eyed girls too! SPICA had potential but the company wasted them... as for harmony, i wish i could explain why mamamoo is amazing above all the others, i cant without having to be technical... many are good singers but few can harmonize with other well :) i dont look at MAMAMOO individually, i take them as a whole, the talent as a whole, everyone in the group is good but theyre amazing when theyre together, thats what so cool about them

they're in a small company and they don't do live performance in the West, so their overall audience is smaller than Blackpink that come to the West. in 7 years from their debut, Mamamoo have only made 1 live show in the West: 2018 in Brazil. that's all. even with the covid lockdown and no live shows, BTS does live broadcasts to US, etc and they gain more fans. Mamamoo are very big and well-known in Korea though. they appear in tons of TV shows, music awards(usually they win best vocal award), etc so Koreans know them.

@@daniellxnder you know that this is not enough? and 2015-2016? too long without another live show, etc. do you know why Blackpink became big like BTS? cause they saw BTS and did the same thing. not only they made live shows, they appeared in late night shows, etc. lots of people watch these shows, so Blackpink grew in popularity internationally. also, the kpop audience internationally is bigger than 2015-2016. it grew exponentially after BTS. if Mamamoo made a few shows in the West like BTS and Blackpink did they would be big like these 2. they have talent and good personalities so people will love them.

Cameron N i wouldn't go as far as to say way better. once you're this good, it's really a matter of personal taste. I think Solji and Hyorin's voices are better than taeyeon's, but that's my opinion. some people would say mamamoo vocals are the best. I won't disagree.

These girls are totally on a different level. I've been around KPOP since 2008, but I've never encountered a girl group this well-rounded. (I know there will be a lot of opposing opinions, but please try to temporarily suspend your biases and consider putting yourself in a neutral perspective.) I've even watched some of their variety show, and they're (for a lack of better term) hilarious as hell. Their vocal and dancing skills are on par with or even better than top tier groups, and they actually take major roles in producing their materials. What I like most about them is the rarity of media play. Srsly, you won't find any hard sell media plays. The only articles you'll find about them are news from guesting on shows and the impressions they left blah blah, and that's about it.
