- Un-deterred by the lack of woodland for a camp, I ventured out into the Dales for a short climb up my local crag and cooked a famous camping treat!

If you add a -little- water to the meths it seems to burn cleaner. I believe Trangia recommend you do that.

I have a bigger Trangis and have had it for some 30 odd yeard, pretty bombproof but heavy. If you are in France try alcohol brulee for the fuel. It was cheaper than meths apart from the travel cost! We had a lovely holiday in the Dales 2 years ago staying in West Witton.

Try a mix of 9 parts Meths, 1 part water. That pretty much eliminates soot 🙂

No, you need Bio-Ethanol no disgusting fumes either, cleaner and burns hotter
Hi Richard, if you weren’t using meths before, what were you using? If you add about 10% water to your meths it will reduce any soothing. Plus, a wipe of washing up liquid on the bottom of your pans before cooking will help any soot you do get to wash off easily. Do you have a link to the table you were using?
1967AJB Hi and thanks for the comment/tips. Can’t remember the last fuel as I threw the bottle away. It seemed to burn with a very ‘sooty’ flame. All’s well now. Hope you liked the video.

1967AJB Hi. Yes, it’s from eBay. Comes from China so a bit of a wait. Nevertheless, identical but MUCH cheaper than the Alpkit one which retails at about £36. If you can wait (about 2-3 weeks), it’s well worth it. Comes in a handy case too!

Scratching my head wondering what I did wrong to get a 👎
Don't worry about the thumbs down I'm positive that I have a few subscribers that only follow me to thumbs me down😥 and youtube only see's it as an interaction not good or bad. You can add water to the methylated spirits at a 10% ratio and it really cleans up the burn. Great video mate 👍
