In Serbian culture it is not difficult to know that the actual spelling ought to have been Slavić, meaning that in fact the final part would actually be pronounced with the ending -itch rather than -ik, literally "son of [the] great [people]."
I always thought that Westwood named him after the ethic/linguistic group, which I thought was an odd decision. Around that time Americans were still fascinated with the recently collapsed Soviet Union, and NATO involvement in the Balkans brought up those regions in every day conversations. Westwood using/mispronouncing a foreign sounding name makes more sense. I wouldn't be surprised if some entertainment industry folks in 1999 California got it right, the actor/director mispronounced Slavić, and they just ran with it for budget/time reasons. It's reasonable to have very low expectations for the entertainment industry, especially a B list studio working on a video game in 1999.
I heard there was gonna a series after Kane's Wrath called Tiberium Eclipse but apparently it was replaced with a title based on that vampire love story or something? I dunno, I seem to unable to find it.
Awesome video amazing work. Love this and the blackhand one. For those that are questioning the timeline of who won RA1 to lead to TD, it makes more sense for the allies to win since the formation of GDI involved the UN and G7 nations. I think the soviet ending was more of a way they could show how far back kane reached. That or stalin died and the soviets collapsed and led to the same near modern day as today which seems silly.
I checked as much as i could, but i am certain i haven't heard this before: What's the song at 1:10 ? It's not on any of Klepacki's stuff, but it sure as hell sounds like it. Anyone help me out here?
What is Nod's plan for surviving in the Red Zones? There was some arc where they tried to work out how the Forgotten survived in there, and they keep trying cyborg warriors. But most of them are still basic humans who don't have much chance in there.
I've not played the games in years but it's like the scrin conquered planets, seeded them with tiberium, the tiberium spread wreaking havoc on the planet which they landed. The scrin landed after a few years of infestation and used the tiberium to further fuel their conquest while it simultaneously did most of the work for them.
In the CNC universe its the soviets winning World War 2 that is the divergence point between our universe and theirs. Also the first Tiberium War takes place between 2017 and 2020. See the manual for Renegade which happens in the final weeks of the first tib war for confirmation on that (it has a memo dated March 2020) and Killian in 3 states that Nod exposed GDI as terrorists in 2019 likely referring to the Bialostok massacre. Other than that great video and you deserve way more subs.
Once again, I find myself having to correct so called fans of this game who refuse to do any research on the lore. Both Tiberium and the continuation of Red Alert both come from the Allies winning WWII. The Soviet ending is non cannon to both sides. Allies winning allows the events of Red Alert 2 to unfold. Tiberium Dawn hints completely to the Allies victory, there is no Soviet Union, Russia is a founding member of GDI hence why GDI has the Mammoth Tank. Several smaller members of the former Soviet Union are pro-Nod. And I don't give a fuck what you saw in the ending the Soviet Campaign. Westwood and EA both agreed the Allies are the canon ending.
@@Seriona1 actully, soviet is assulting america inn red alert 2, wich kinda makes sense with 1 thing. Soviet ending could happen, sinch Stalin tok europe, not Amerika. Idunno, I feel like sinch Kane is inn the soviet ending as well, it could very much happen, that withojt Kanes help, Allies does a comback and takes soviet occupied lands back and eventuly gets the pawn leader inn place. How GDI would obtain the mamoth tank, that could be by scavenging and researching destroyed mammoth tanks or stolen blueprints 🤷♀️
@@trueredpanda1538 No, once again, so called fans failing to do research. Both universes are coming from Red Alert Allies victory. The reason for Red Alert 2 opening was because Westwood intended the entire series to roll within one story but EA changed that idea when they bought the series and thus locked in two different universe but from one canon ending. Even Red Alert 2's lore is explained by this. The Allies defeated USSR, USSR current Premier was a US elected leader. USSR completely lacks a modern air force due to a treaty put in place by the Allies. Europe is not Soviet secured even remotely.
Agreed but maybe the cheesy C&C skits were a fun change from their normal gigs - variety is the spice of life and all that. Still not sure how they managed to afford James Earl Jones for Tiberium Sun though 😅
According to religious scholars based on how the Garden of Eden is described in the Bible that the Land of Nod would be located somewhere in Iran if real life location matters but Nod has no ties to the Middle East beyond religious terminology.
1:57 - What is he saying here: ... "or chassier among the tribes of Oden" ...? "Odin" ...? or even "Woden"? Are there believers in _odenism_ within NOD, really? Or am I hearing it wrong?
I was trying to say "ShaÆSeer among the tribes of Godan." It is mentioned in the manual for C&C Tiberian Dawn under the section about the Brotherhood of Nod.
@@jdanger_sanders The Foreman is the Scrin equivalent of a general, not AI. The Scrin AI is refered to as Mothership. I guess it could be the actual Mothership's AI, aiding the Foreman in their quest.
C&C Tiberium Dawn was perhaps a sci-fi, but its depiction of the early 2000s asymetric warfare with a militarized organization of religious fanatics based in the Third World was almost "prophetic". Tiberium and sci-fi elements aside, the Tiberium Dawn is like the war with ISIS or al-Qaeda. I think that the developers realized this "prophetic" element and decided to use it further in C&C generals.

one thing to think about is this. Brotherhood of nod Named the crystal. Eavryone just whent along with it. But the real question how on earth did they do that? So just to do that the Brotherhood must have had alot of sway in the science cummunity and in the political. But that also implies when the crystal came the brotherhood made sure to take credit for it. Wich is again alot of sway in various societies. I dare not to think about the implications of that.
@@WallNutBreaker524 than the implications of that is this. How big was the brother hood of nods influence prior to the crystal. Not EU or continent wise but glodally. Also how come nod almost looses its wars... there is something that does not add up here.
There is a logical mistake here that a whole storyline and the studio oversight it for sure, which is Kane was not killed by ion shot at his own temple in Savjevo back in the first Tiberium War, later GDI once again fired the same weapon at the same location for killing the same person during the third Tiberium war event. How could the top GDI officials have not learned anything on record of terminating Kane?
The time between the first and third Tiberium Wars was 40-50 years. So most senior commanders in GDI would either be dead or retired. The other thing to consider is that most of the GDI top brass was killed when the GDSS Philadelphia was nuked, leaving Redmond Boyle, the Secretary of the Treasury, as the leader of GDI. So an incompetent leader and half a century between these two events along with Kane seemingly to be to reappear out of nowhere makes the Ion Cannon attack in TW3 have some plausibility.
I strongly believe Kane is THEE Kane, who slew his brother Abel. God cursed Kane with immortality, cursed to forever roam the earth and witness the horrors we inflict on each other. Unable to die himself. Now ask yourself this, how many times has Kane been killed? Or at least how many times have people attempted to kill him? End of the first war, GDI drops a damn Ion Cannon on Kane's head and all he got was a facial scar he healed completely. If rat doesn't say that he is the very same Kane cursed by God with immortality, I don't k ow what is
You've got that part from the Bible wrong. Cain was cursed by God, but not with a literal immortality. God gave him a mark, Cain could still be killed by anyone, but that mark tells people who encounters him, that he's the first murderer and that he's marked by God for what he's done. Anyone, who would bring harm to Cain would also suffer harm from God himself. It's not like he couldn't be killed, it's more like people thought twice about killing him, since they would suffer consequences from God himself.
Nope tiberian twilight is not a command and conquer series Come on....what with population limit and split a faction to different function like defensive and offensive, that is not C&C I know from my childhood
Just stumbled onto these vids. I grew up playing C&C on floppy disks. I loved the whole series and was sick to my stomach when I saw what EA did in the last game. I'm hoping somehow the series will continue with the forth being omitted. I was hoping GDI was going to use the alien tech from TW3 to move into almost a starcraft like time line. Moving to new world's to fight or something.
You can buy the C&C Remastered Collection on Steam which encompasses Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert plus their expansions. As well Red Alert 3, C&C 3 Tiberium Wars and their expansions. And C&C4. The only ones you cannot get on Steam are Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2. But you can find them over at cnc.community/ as they are considered free ware.
Excellent, but you forgot about one thing, originally Soviets won Red Alert 1 which is shown in Mammoth tanks (and other soviet units) used by GDI and allied equipment used by NOD, yet for some reason it was changed/retconed later.
The funny thing is I saw this in my recommendations and it made me rebuy C&C 3 I already planned on getting Tiberian Sun and Firestorm and Kane’s Wrath now too thanks to these
Awesome, but no coverage for Tiberium Twilight? While I was not a fan of the game, I'd love to see you delve into the details surrounding the game's story and how it all fits in to the rest of the Tiberium saga.
i say the (entirely theoretical hypothetical) scenario of utilizing this treshold tower to facilitate the ascension as planned, probably by drawing on the immense energy stored in tiberium, could in a certain point of view confirm the messiah brand, because if i remember the translation correctly it is savior/deliverer and on a planet being actively devoured... i'm just saying it would theoretically be worth exploring but one should NEVER RUSH those things.
Yet another "nod" to the bible is that Cain was exiled to the "Land of Nod" after killing his brother Abel, hinting to the connection of Kane and Cain as well.
I love how jethild doesn't feed the accepted fan theory that Kane is immortal. Instead I personally wish they'd reboot the series to bring other games into the same timeline, and make the story where Kane in old age discovered genetic manipulation and could stall his aging, not stop it, through regular infusions. He would then be able to seem immortal and with his own charismatic and tyrannical personality he would be convinced in and of himself as "the messiah". Then go with Westwood's original story for cnc 3 where Kane cloned himself to make yuri and they assaulted area 51, stole Einstein's original chronosphere and yuri would set up his own empire behind the iron curtain in preparation for Kane's rule and Nod's victory in the future.
It depends on who you believe really. GDI claims it was named Tiberium due to crashing near the Tiber river. Whereas Kane claims he named after Tiberius Julius Caesar.

Okay I get the joke you're making but you do know that Eclipse was also the name of a Twilight book right
Awesome video amazing work.
9:23 Are we sure the Brotherhood of Nod doesn't exist in this universe?
My thoughts exactly when I saw that lol I was like ohhhh shiiiiit!!! Hahaha
just wanted to comment that I love your channel bro, much love
Another epic Video.
This epic Master-Piece of Work goes directly in my Video-Content Collection.
Rock ˋn Roll!
I checked as much as i could, but i am certain i haven't heard this before: What's the song at 1:10 ? It's not on any of Klepacki's stuff, but it sure as hell sounds like it. Anyone help me out here?
It's called Killing Machine and it is done by Frank Klepacki. It's from the Firestorm expansion to Tiberian Sun.
16:27 some bad-ass cinematography right here.
Had to go back & check out your time cite & you’re right.
What is Nod's plan for surviving in the Red Zones? There was some arc where they tried to work out how the Forgotten survived in there, and they keep trying cyborg warriors. But most of them are still basic humans who don't have much chance in there.
Kane's divination process.
They live UNDER it.
Man these videos are great for helping me flesh out a tiberian d20 modern game I'm running
One vision one purpose peace through power!!!!
imagine my surprise that after watching all your C&C videos, i find you did bf2 analysis vids. Cant wait to see what you grow this channel into
I watched the BF2 vids too. I really liked them
Thanks for leading us down this rabbit hole!
🐇
I've not played the games in years but it's like the scrin conquered planets, seeded them with tiberium, the tiberium spread wreaking havoc on the planet which they landed. The scrin landed after a few years of infestation and used the tiberium to further fuel their conquest while it simultaneously did most of the work for them.
Fantastic Video
Thank you
In the CNC universe its the soviets winning World War 2 that is the divergence point between our universe and theirs.

The Soviets were on the winning side of WW2 in rl tho.
Europe is not Soviet secured even remotely.
still amazes me how many high profile actors the got for the cut scenes. these are all boomer actors that dont even understand video games
Agreed but maybe the cheesy C&C skits were a fun change from their normal gigs - variety is the spice of life and all that.
Still not sure how they managed to afford James Earl Jones for Tiberium Sun though 😅
Man i'm still waiting on them to finish the story with a 4th game
The world only believes what the media tells them to believe. - Kane.
Damn, fictional characters dropping quotes that age VERY well now adays.
"The World only believes what the Media tells them to believe, and I tell the media what to believe, it's really quite simple".
Thank pou so very much for all the lore vids for this epic game series! :-D
I’ve been binge watching these more videos after downloading C&C 2 Tiberium Sun
👍🏻
Scary when you discover that the Brotherhood of Nod is basically the good guys.
MFW GDI stops a plan that would literally end any problem Tiberium creates just because it would make Nod look good.
Good God, this video takes me back... I loved this game! And I usually played the Black and Red of the BoN.

Where does the name Nod come from? Does it stand for something?
In the Bible Cain is exiled to the land of Nod after he killed Abel. That’s the only reference to it and Nod translates from Hebrew as exile.
@@rufinator ohhh, that’s epic thanks
According to religious scholars based on how the Garden of Eden is described in the Bible that the Land of Nod would be located somewhere in Iran if real life location matters but Nod has no ties to the Middle East beyond religious terminology.

1:57 - What is he saying here:
@@Jethild Oh, I see. Thanks for answering!
I should have known that couldn't have been the case.
You know what would have been interesting? A C&C Havok style game where you played the NOD assassin who killed Slavik
I've been binging these videos for the last few days and I love how Tiberium Twilight is completely ignored. As it should be.
Kane just used everyone for his homecoming.
Came back to watch this again and notice what was off in this video the whole time. You didn't use "No Mercy" as for Nod's theme!!
if A.I GDI called Eva, NOD Legion then what name of the Scrin A.I ?
In the Scrin campaign they refer to the player commander as foreman if that counts?
The scrin called their A.I Mothership
After it's snub of the Overlord and Supervisor, it's called nothing. Because it's probably reformatted or dead.
@@jdanger_sanders The Foreman is the Scrin equivalent of a general, not AI. The Scrin AI is refered to as Mothership. I guess it could be the actual Mothership's AI, aiding the Foreman in their quest.
Cybran are basically Nod, there’s so many similarities: red, cyborgs, stealth technology, spikey insectoid designs, ect.
10:43 the what trade centre now?
....goosebumps
It was bombed in 1993
Being Kane's second-in-command never ends well
C&C Tiberium Dawn was perhaps a sci-fi, but its depiction of the early 2000s asymetric warfare with a militarized organization of religious fanatics based in the Third World was almost "prophetic". Tiberium and sci-fi elements aside, the Tiberium Dawn is like the war with ISIS or al-Qaeda. I think that the developers realized this "prophetic" element and decided to use it further in C&C generals.
How did you get renegade to look so crisp?
The only thing I might have had to do was set the resolution of the game to 1920x1080 to match my monitor. Other than that, nothing else.
I killed my friends so much back then that many of them stopped playing games ... lol , good times.
*FOR NOD! FOR KANE! PEACE THROUGH POWER!*
If you don't want to hunt down your own friends during a multiplayer, then I would be confused, I see my friend inn any type off game and how I can get on the opposite team then him, because I wanna show him how it's done! One vision, one purpose!!
one thing to think about is this.
"The World only believes what the Media tells them to believe. And i tell the Media what to believe, it's really quite simple".
Love it.
One Vision, One Purpose..
One day I’ll form a massive cult like the brotherhood of nod except we’ll just listen to the C&C soundtracks and play the old games.
The brotherhood of nod or the black hand are from Serbia. Grettings and like, 😁👍.
Nobody acknowledges the existence of tiberian twilgiht lmao
good keep it that way
The existence of what ... (confused staring)?
The existence of what?
Tiberium twillight? Is dat a movie or something?
Nope tiberian twilight is not a command and conquer series
Come on....what with population limit and split a faction to different function like defensive and offensive, that is not C&C I know from my childhood
Jethild awesome job you belong to the brotherhood
What an amazing thumbnail
Just stumbled onto these vids. I grew up playing C&C on floppy disks. I loved the whole series and was sick to my stomach when I saw what EA did in the last game. I'm hoping somehow the series will continue with the forth being omitted. I was hoping GDI was going to use the alien tech from TW3 to move into almost a starcraft like time line. Moving to new world's to fight or something.
Glad to see I’m not the only one who remembers games on floppy disks!
@@RC-qv9in also had ultimate doom on 10 floppy disks. My kindergarten had the HUGE floppy disks for a few games.... I feel old
bout the only thing that comes close is Stellaris with mods
I really want to get back into this game series is there any on steam?
You can buy the C&C Remastered Collection on Steam which encompasses Tiberian Dawn and Red Alert plus their expansions. As well Red Alert 3, C&C 3 Tiberium Wars and their expansions. And C&C4. The only ones you cannot get on Steam are Tiberian Sun and Red Alert 2. But you can find them over at cnc.community/ as they are considered free ware.

So how old Kane is?
around 4000 or 6000 years old i guess. I'm pretty sure the bible about him was just bluffing thanks to EA
My favorite characters were Kane, Slavic and Oxana, too bad Slavic is not in the newer games
Excellent, but you forgot about one thing, originally Soviets won Red Alert 1 which is shown in Mammoth tanks (and other soviet units) used by GDI and allied equipment used by NOD, yet for some reason it was changed/retconed later.
It wasn't.
Soviet Union was part of GSI.
The funny thing is I saw this in my recommendations and it made me rebuy C&C 3 I already planned on getting Tiberian Sun and Firestorm and Kane’s Wrath now too thanks to these
From God to Kane to Seth.... well not so much Seth anymore. 😬 🤯
Poor Seth.
He will never be the 'head' of NOD anymore.
The irony is that Seth in the Bible was the third son of Adam and Eve.
they really did my boy Slavic dirty
if he had been in the third war he would have wiped the floor with GDI
Awesome, but no coverage for Tiberium Twilight? While I was not a fan of the game, I'd love to see you delve into the details surrounding the game's story and how it all fits in to the rest of the Tiberium saga.
thats the thing, it doesnt fit, the end : /
The truth, unfortunately.
There is no C&C 4 in the Tiberium Universe
What’s the rock music playing in the end ?
Amazing content by the way
It's called "Mechanical Mind" by Mikael Sandgren. It's from the Kane's Wrath expansion.
@@Jethild Thank you bro!
Ahh nod the noble and selfless rebels who fight for the future of humankind. So poetic.
i say the (entirely theoretical hypothetical) scenario of utilizing this treshold tower to facilitate the ascension as planned, probably by drawing on the immense energy stored in tiberium, could in a certain point of view confirm the messiah brand, because if i remember the translation correctly it is savior/deliverer and on a planet being actively devoured...
i'm just saying it would theoretically be worth exploring but one should NEVER RUSH those things.
Why you didn't also cover Tiberium Twilight?
Why Nod uses red lights only?

Connecting Kane to his biblical counterpart is pretty cool though.
Wasn't tiberium named after it first crashed near the Tiber river in Italy?
It depends on who you believe really. GDI claims it was named Tiberium due to crashing near the Tiber river. Whereas Kane claims he named after Tiberius Julius Caesar.
@@Jethild I'm shocked... I fell for more GDI propaganda!!! Thank you!
