The studio recording of this record is in my top 10 all time recordings, close to the top with Tears for Fears EWTRTW, and yes the drumming and especially the sounds on the record are awesome. It's cool to hear how well they actually play this live!
How is it that they weren't the next Beatles? Most people don't even know who the Icicle Works but have heard this song in one way or another. I can't even call them one hit wonders because they put out entire albums of the most amazing songs. I wish they had been given the wide exposure they deserved.
@@morrisonreed1 all the songs are great. However there are 2 versions. One has a song called Factory in the desert which is awesome. But the other version has a song which replaces factory. i love even more than birds fly. It's called reaping the richest harvest. Off "if you want to defeat your enemy sing his songs." Evangeline, Perambulator, Hollow horse, Honestly the whole album you could just set on loop and listen to for months. Off the "Blind Album. The extended version of "Shit Creek" Blind, walk a while me. There is a greatest hits album floating around but i have made it my mission to collect all he B sides i can find. The only song i liked after the original band split is Motor Cycle rider. It just isn't the same sound. Best of all. You can find all the rare songs including the Peel sessions, on UA-cam. That vinyl has eluded me for years.
One of my favorite songs from my high school years, ‘83-‘87, brings back so many memories. I still have this album, an actual record, from back them, definitely a cherished item. This is a great live performance of a wonderful song.
This was actually a very good album. I first saw them in their video for this song on Night Tracks which was a late nite tv music video show back in the 80's. Didn't catch their name the first time I saw it and it drove me nuts not knowing who they were until I saw the video again weeks later. No internet in those days lol.
ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT XXXXX One of my favourite tracks ever, the drums always sound so beautiful and loud and this live version is great. The drums sound even better!
One of the most under-appreciated Rhythm section songs ever...the Drums and Bass make this song.
Very Addam Ants or Bow Wow Wow drumning, loved it!
Drummer is definitely working hard on this song!

Burundi beat ?
These guys are killing it live.

Clicked this expecting lip-syncing. Pleasantly surprised and impressed.
Loved this song since 1984
This songs drumbeat always reminded me of Bow Wow Wow.

Actually a good album? Was it suppose to have been bad? Pfftt.
Same! I remember that show.
This is my 80’s song. Great song, live and they sound amazing!
I agree with all the positive comments. And so impressed that this is live. Most 80s live videos are lip synced with fade out included. Ha.

Concerning the percussion i disagree...love that you are here listening and loving music that means so much 2 me mate.
They do the song so brilliant live. 🎧❤️
McNabb, Layhe and Sharrock make up the Icicle works. Thank God for youtube videos and millennials are getting to know the brilliance of the 80s music!
I got to know this 80s band only very recents. Coz back then, there are no Internet radio and UA-cam. This is my favorite song!

❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
Only song that made them COIN!
Is that Ken Doherty?
How tall is ian he looks huge
Rough on the vocals but i think its nerves more than anything.
Singer reminds me of Casey Affleck
He looks like a cross between George Harrison and Paul McCartney
@@dennisjoyce7689 And Seth McFarlen too.
the time is now.... Pneuma whisper to a scream... trumpet call... Jesus is returning soon....
drum intro was awful, but love the tune!
Sounds like they are really older than Steve Lawrence, the complete wanna be
