I really wish Nintendo made MM3 just so that they extend the hype over this game so that Ryu gets more popular. Dude is the chillest, healthiest youtuber out there and is not getting as nearly enough recognition as he should. Love you Ryu, keep up your videos. They got me out of depression :)

Let's be honest here, he's nearly got 1 million subscribers, plus multiple successful channels, and a successful streaming career. I enjoy watching Ryu as well, seems like a chill dude and easy to get along with. But he is definitely doing well in the recognition department. lol. Not saying more is bad or he doesn't need more. But he's certainly doing very well compared to 99% of primary Mario UA-camrs. Which is great, glad to see it for him!
@@BeholdMyStrength I agree, I just want him to be even more recognized. So many shitstains call themselves YTbers and have tens of millions of subs. Ryu deserves to be far beyond them.

I have to agree with OP, at least about how his videos have been helpful. I hit a REALLY low point about 6 years ago, and I mean lowwww. While laying in bed, not wanting to do ANYTHING but sleep and somehow sync my brain up to UA-cam 24/7, I came across DGR, which led me to Ryu. While I still sub to DGR and enjoy his content, Ryu is at the top of any of my "favorite UA-camrs" lists. His personality, his mannerisms, etc, all intrigued me enough that I binged every single video he'd previously uploaded. At the end of 2019, I got the 'vid, and continued watching every upload Ryu did. I even joined Twitch to catch his live streams. I said all that to say this... Ryu REALLY DID help get me through the lowest point of my life, and as of now, I'm 50. I STILL watch every single video he uploads. I'll continue to do so until he just stops streaming and uploading. I'm definitely a #FanForLife of Ryu's.

tl;Dr: Ryu's antics helped me go from "I wish I was unalive," to "Life is GOOOOD!"

Fixing online Multiplayer would attract a LOT of players to be interested in Smm2 (1:27:30). Just make the servers local for that part of the game and idk.. host events with premade levels. I think the 2nd part of this is the subscription online. That's just dumb expensive and not justified. I'm sure that if they made the servers have a physical entry point in NA, the lag would be gone and they wouldn't need to make us pay this much for their crappy service online :/
Correct me if I'm wrong about any of this, but I believe it might all be true/feasible and.. something someone ought to suggest to them!
Adding my two cents to the UA-cam is better than Twitch discussion... UA-cam doesn't lag and buffer nearly as bad as Twitch. I'm lucky to go five seconds before Twitch has to reload to catch up.

1:27:00 imo the reason why Mario maker 2 sold not too well compared to other Mario games is because it's a game around 4 years of age that still costs around $60 to buy and requires a paid subscription to play. Love the game but outside of Mario I am not into Nintendo enough for the paid subscriptions to be worth it for me and am literally too poor to keep playing it when it comes to saving money. When it comes to the game without the paid online membership you essentially get a tutorial of a campaign that feels like they threw it together last minute with zero effort, giving little quality, little quantity, but still at the high price. And so I just stick to watching it on UA-cam.
Ryu is extra saucy in this stream.. I like it.

Viewing on UA-cam, most of the subs and interactions with chat are minimal plus it's shorter. Also we can fast forward over shout outs as needed.
I can vividly recall the times I'd go to Clancy's Bend on the East Gallatin river and get no trout. Many times.

"Why did Nintendo abandon MM2 so quickly?" My guess is, it sold way short what they thought it would compared to the numbers for MM1 in a certain amount of time and decided that putting more time and money into it wasn't worth the trouble. Which is sad in my opinion.

As much as I hate to say this, I think one of the gravest flaws of the Super Mario Maker series is none other than us, the creators. Sure, there are a lot of very talented, conscientious level creators out there that put time and heart into each level, but let’s not kid ourselves. Good levels in Mario Maker are outnumbered 100 to 1 easily. People play Mario to have fun platforming, not get frustrated over half-baked trolls and shoddy level design. Mario Maker often falls short of delivering an authentic Mario experience because of lazy and/or insufferable players.

People acting like it's some wild pipe dream for a Super Switch game to be playable on the original Switch while I'm alternating between playing Diablo 4 on my old XBOX One and Series X with a single purchase.
It's all software at this point and two or three setting profiles for fixed hardware configurations is still a thousand times less complicated than a PC release.
I feel like you should take a break from this and try deathless super expert instead. The drop to 6 versus 16 levels makes a huge difference

Another check against twitch is that it is not as accessible as youtube. I can't access Twitch on any of my computers, it's just a black screen because of too much bad coding and newest, berstest evAR web design. While I can access youtube on all of my computers, even a mac from 1998.
Though I imagine that we'll likely see a complete collapse of the internet by 2030 because of how poorly it is all being managed and the emphasis on supporting smartphones poorly instead of functionality in general.

Regarding Mario Maker 3. For sure it's true that something like New Supe WiiU sold more than Mario Maker 2; however consider that we know Mario Maker 2 was built from the tools they used to make New Supe WiiU. So will they invest money to make Mario Maker 3 when they can make Mario Wonder instead and make more money with Wonder? For sure making Wonder is the obvious choice. However after development on Wonder is finished, I think it makes sense to put a smaller team to the task on polishing the tools used to make Wonder into Mario Maker 3 and essentially get even more return on their investment than with Wonder alone.
Also, personally I'll never pay for online. Mario Maker 1 (as well as Rom hacks) is enough to fill my itch for custom Mario levels. Even though Nintendo Online is cheep, it's still pretty worthless IMO.
with regards to the mario maker 3 conundrum. I wonder if the team that made SMM2, went on to create mario wonder, and they're going to expand mario maker 3 later with mario wonder elements, rather than the suspected 3d stuff like mario 64.
It seems like mario maker is limited to 2d stuff. so if mario maker 3 had no new elements, then nintendo may not have seen a reason to do anything with it.
So if they add wonder stuff in, then that would make sense why they folded so soon.
I mean, mario maker 1 was originally a a debug engine(or something?) used to create mario levels in new super mario bros wiiu.(again, or something)
Mario maker 2, added 3d world elements to it and new stuff here and there.

I don't trust Nintendo with Mario Maker 3. As someone who bought 2, I already feel super burned by the way they abandoned the game so quickly. I don't know if they could convince me to buy another one, especially since I lost interest in the second after only making a few levels. They'd have to put a lot more effort into it than they did with MM2. I just lack the patience and focus for level creating anymore, plus I was demoralized by the fact that the few levels I uploaded in MM2 barely got any traction compared to the ones I uploaded in MM1. The game needs a much better built-in way to share levels and get exposure. I shouldn't have to use Reddit or go beg Twitch streamers to play my level in order for my levels to get plays. Also creating levels is so tedious in MM2 compared to 1. The Wii U gamepad was tailor made for Mario Maker).
yeah, the statistics are just not favorable for this challenge to be completed in a short number of attempts, as I commented on the earliest videos he did on this. his one-shot rate for expert level smm1 levels is very stable over the expected number of levels he'll need to try to complete this challenge. I haven't watched one of these videos all the way through, but one can easily figure out how many levels he attempts in one of them and thus how many more videos it will take. my memory is fuzzy, but it's either around 22k attempts or 22k levels he'll have to do in order to expect to complete it. it's only 16 levels, but the probabilities multiply...

UA-cam is better on the viewer end while twitch is better on the streamer end.
Mario Maker is handled by Nintendo in the strangest ways. They could provide new features over time, but instead they focus all of their attention to removing levels. The lag is bad, the world mode is bad, finding levels is bad, no real single player mode, and they removed amiibo support. It's like they don't want people playing their half-baked game. If it wasn't for the community keeping it on life support it would have died the year it came out. And Nintendo STILL continues to sabotage the people that play it!
I don’t get why they don’t create a category for trolls/hacks and just keep it all in there as some sort of explicit opt-in vs killing levels. Why they were fervent about making sure no one could play something like Super Wagon World is just absurd. (Well, I know it’s on brand for Nintendo to be over-controlling snits, of course…)
The falling spring level doesn't seem skill based to me. Just figuring out which spring to use. Which I suppose is a skill but seems more like luck.
You should do a poll of how many people on YT also watch anything on Twitch. I have a Twitch account but have only used it a couple times in the number of years I've had it. I've watched approx 30 minutes of content over those few times I've used that platform.

Isn't "for kids" what Mario has always been about? I don't really understand the criticism. None of the mainline Mario games have really been very difficult. The difficulty comes from speed running.
