The old dos game Indy Car Racing 2 by Papyrus taught me that oval tracks are super tricky until you set up the car perfect and wait till the tires are at prefect temp, than it is a beautiful rhythm as you roll through the laps.
I tried oval in AMS2 in VR with old Indy cars and it was a blast. It was like wheel to wheel racing but instead of lasting for a few exciting moments of the race, it was like that the whole race. Also 100% agree with the strategy side of it. With the slip stream exchange, you can overtake someone for him to come back right after you. The end was like a game of chicken of who is gonna make the last overtake right before the finish line.
I went to the Indy 500 this year. The cars are so fast that they are in front of you 1 second and a few seconds later they are a blur off in the distance. Also there was 325,000 people that showed up on race day. There was a human traffick jam behind the grand stands. It was so crowded you could not get through and looking around no one else could either. We had to turn around and go to the front of the stands to get to our seats.

Not sure what was different about what you were racing at Indy, but usually you would be driving around in 5th gear and upshift to 6th to save a little fuel. One he failed to qualify and the other he was incredibly racing for the win before his Honda engine blew. Alonso is a true race, along with others like Montoya, Villeneuve, Sato etc.
I've been 34 seconds around Daytona in the Redbull 2010X in AC1 and man is it an intense minute(Start lap then record lap.) Also pro tip don't brake just let off the throttle and with the Redbull you don't even need to that. PS yes most laps end it me taking a trip to the under ground aquafer.

You should give it a go in the current indycar in iRacing, I think you'll really enjoy it. More grip but slightly twitchy and you can run more consistently in a pack, which makes it feels even more tense. It gets to the point where you look forward to a full course yellow because you don't breath for green stints.
When you're out there on the track just think about highway driving at ludicrous speeds and then you'll understand how it is for NASCAR drivers in the drivers you can't drive like a pump you got the man up foot on the gas
It shouldn’t be this unstable. It’s not easy by any chance, but the corrections are insane. That driving in real life or sim titles that are more accurate in ovals would be wall for sure. There’s not much counter steering in ovals. BTW, your channel is the best! Love the content.
Fabulous video and good effort. Long time since I’ve sim raced but used to do the Indy fixed on iRacing and loved it. I only initially gave it a go as I didn’t have time to learn anything other than ovals. I had no idea what I was letting myself in for. You’ve summed up that eyes on stalks, non stop terror, heart hammering, breath held experience wonderfully. Did you find the straights aren’t straight either but you’re having to hold the car right as it’s set up to turn left? And any steering input slows the car down, even a fraction, which is bad. Now go try a short oval like Iowa :)
I dont know what the setting would be, but all the cars tuned for the Indy 5, have a slight pull to the left. Again, I'm not sure what it's called but that would definitely help.
hi when you at some point, get the asetek wheel and wheelbase, and make an review of those. It would be nice if you could make a video, of some of the best third party wheels you can use for the wheelbase. Because I have pre-ordered the forte wheel and wheelbase, and after I've seen some videos from sim expo, I'm not sure whether or not I want the forte wheel or a third party wheel.
Come race wt us in iRacing IR18 C class Fixed Oval!! Would make great content. Competition is fierce and guys are fast AF. Especially Monday night broadcast. 3500 IR minimum for top split. After Monday night it's just us mortals racing. Dirty air is wicked. Speed is insane. Get your license in rookie FVee. D in Skippy or F2000. Then C IR18. Races are about an hour and half. IR18 is available in AI races to practice. Set difficulty to 100%. B class IR18 is a mix of Road & Oval but is Open so you better have good setups. Ditch AMS2 for oval. AI is terrible and over brakes and doesn't use correct lines. That car never raced at Indy in 00. Until then stop downshifting. At Indy, 5th in clean air or 6th drafting or saving fuel. Be smooth. Small inputs. Can't jump off throttle. If you catch a cars draft then shift to 6th, drag the brakes to maintain distance and lower rpm. Off throttle just upsets the car badly, kills all speed and gets ya hit from behind. During the race you must adjust the F/R anti roll bars and weight jacker as the fuel burns off and as you move from clean to dirty air. Can change engine and throttle mapping for fuel strategy. Handles completely different in dirty air vs clean. You gotta enter off line from guy in front to get air on the nose and hold that line so you're not crashing the guy behind you. And you must use a spotter. Crucial. Either iR or Crew Chief. Come race wt us on some ovals. Lotta fun. Then try some stock cars. When people think it's easy, it looks about like that. 1-200L in the draft or 250- 500 on a short track will wear ya out physically and mentally.
@@boostedmedia it’s intense to say the least. Typically you make your passes in the straights or before corner entry. Trying a pass on the outside is sketchy but in a sim it’s more doable. Ams2 is getting there but little things they need to address. Like after an accident, the cars gone 👍 but they leave parts and tires all over lol wtf. It’s a hot lapper for me at this point. Thanks for the video 👍
And by the way .INDY CARS don't have power steering..could you imagine swinging out to the wall..turning into turn 1 at 235 or more..how much the right front would load up and having to muscle the car down to the white line..without lifting..not to mention you can only breath on the straightaways..the turns are too high of lateral forces to think of trying to take a breath..alot like a fighter pilot

Lovely video - good example of ams2 - and indycars is fun 💪🏼👍🤘🏼🤩
Going on what Pato O'ward said about the difference from indycar to F1 is the grip and downforce that an F1 car has over Indycar
Awesome vid, and time i tried oval racing after watching this 👍🏎️
Amazing. My home track. Go to the race each year.
AMS2 is sick!
I don't understand how a formula 1 type car with wings that create solid downforce can be so unstable at 300+ kph. It should be glued to the asphalt.
Down force is stripped to absolute bare minimum for speed
For some reason it reminds me a lot of football (soccer) vs rugby , if that makes any sense?
In sense of tactics and strategy.
I dont know what the setting would be, but all the cars tuned for the Indy 5, have a slight pull to the left. Again, I'm not sure what it's called but that would definitely help.
Camber adjustment to help it steer to the left
@@StayTruATL Yes! Thank you.
Below 340kph you do not have enough down-force. Keep those corner speeds up!
Great video, loved it. Which simulator did you use? I couldn't identify.
hi when you at some point, get the asetek wheel and wheelbase, and make an review of those. It would be nice if you could make a video, of some of the best third party wheels you can use for the wheelbase. Because I have pre-ordered the forte wheel and wheelbase, and after I've seen some videos from sim expo, I'm not sure whether or not I want the forte wheel or a third party wheel.
id like to see you try Nascar Cup Cars at Talladega!
I think it’s BS drivers in f2 and f3 get more super liscence points than Indy car drivers. These cars are insane and faster too end than f1
Now do green flag pit stops, and a 200 lap 500 mile race 😉
I can only imagine how she’s that would be!
Idk what sim this is or mods but holy shit… it looks amazing
Bad habit of downshifting one gear too many every time you approach a corner. Great video though!
Dear Santa...
took me a bit to realize he was in a sim
And by the way .INDY CARS don't have power steering..could you imagine swinging out to the wall..turning into turn 1 at 235 or more..how much the right front would load up and having to muscle the car down to the white line..without lifting..not to mention you can only breath on the straightaways..the turns are too high of lateral forces to think of trying to take a breath..alot like a fighter pilot
Wild!
how do you get the gestures to show up in game? You pointed at the tire temp and also the fences and the game showed your hands pointing too!?
That’s my actual arms and hands. It’s not VR.
@@boostedmedia lol wow that setup is amazing! I totally thought all of that was in-game
Have simular setup to yours mate try speedway legion speed cars at bristol you'll love it
Wow .Hell on wheels
At INdianapolis you just LIFT the throttle in 5th gear to corner...
“Car racing Is just driving in circles…”
How close is your screen to the wheel base?
There’s about a 5cm gap to allow for the motion
What wheel base are you using these days?
gave it a red hot go
Play with death and people like to watch it. This american sport reminds me coliseum battles fr the past where people pay to look some bloody scenes
what game is this? cant believe its not mentioned
Hey Boosted what earbuds do you use ?
What game is this the movement is so on point it looks real af
Automobilista 2. Its on steam sale rn
Which sim ("game") is being used here?
what is the white arc at the top of the screen?
Maybe change the drive style. I mean: higher gear for dont lode grip. look the another driver, there are stable but you are unstable with the power :/
Shift down before a corner is woooow
inside corner upgear and use the slipstream at long way with downgear
is this iRacing or Automob, would be good if you left the game title somewhere in disc
Never doudted how good the cars are, it's just not, for me, exciting to watch, crashes aside.
Great video. I also just got the CSX3. Do you mind me asking what dash that is? Thanks
Can’t remember off the top of my head. I’ll have a look when I’m next in the studio.
@@boostedmedia thank you very much, that would be a big help
@@boostedmedia Any update on the name of that Dash? Would love to download and use it on my CSX3 as well. Thanks!!
UA-cam algorithm decides you are playing F1-2020. 🤣
When a review off the thrustmaster t818?
What Game is it
