These products are genuinely a game changer, I got the Spirit HD and its just fantastic, so many useful features like the speed dial, and the boom mic is great quality so I've been told from my phone call partners!
FREECOM 2X with JBL speakers Com is well assembled and I'm here to give advice for very CRUCIAL part of installing Freecom and is about speakers position! Me and my wife have same helmets in different sizes. Her is XS and mine is XL ( I have a bigger brain 😉) They are SHARK Spartan Carbon. Helmet has pre fabricated position for speakers inside inner shell. First I fitted speakers inside her helmet and I returned padings back for her to try it and see if speakers bother her somehow. There was no bother and I stuck my finger inside to see if it's relative to her ear. The speaker was 1.5 cm behind ear!! I took knife and I cuted inner shell so I can move speaker forward. I did it right and speakers are on the ear spot on!! Then I had my helmet testing with speakers positioned on pre fabricated slots. It fits PERFECT! So it means that I DID'NT HAD TO MODIFY my inner shell at all! Conclusion: It is CRUCIAL to test position of speakers before attaching everything! When you do that right, you will be stisfied as I am 🥳 Sound is awesome and be patient with installation!!
Helpful tutorial, thanks. This has to be the top pick for a headset with voice command and HD speakers (looks like it has the edge over the updated Sena S20 in every area except for max group size). As a bluetooth newb I was surprised to learn that the 4-way intercom setup is complicated by having 2 channels per unit, just thought they'd have figured out something simpler by now :)
Just fitted my 4X, amazing in every area. Sent my Atlas 4.0 with Shockwave back as this is far superior to the Shockwave with its voice control (hey siri / hey cardo works flawlessy). Don't even need to take eyes off the road, hands off the bars etc. Sound quality is better than the shockwave too (which is not poor by any means). Very very impressed, everything a rider could need (a lonely rider who has no need for Mesh tech).
I'm still amazed how they didn't make 2x with voice commands just like 4x. Like there is no add hardware needed, its just a money grabbing so ppl go for a product that they don't need(cause no one uses 4 devices connected) instead of just going for the 2x which is the average ppl will need.
@@jacobparis6576 have you had any issues with random dropouts, not connecting when coming back into range, or pairing issues? Also do you have to reconnect all the devices after powering down for a quick stop...

Got the 4x great sound but why does it show up 2 times on iPhone Bluetooth settings? Also intercom between 2 headsets always hit and miss communications, even when standing next to each other
I need help on how to music share but also use the intercom, I kinda did it by clicking the dial 1x and then both me and rider B were able to listen to music as well as talk to each other. Once you music share, how do you add the intercom to it?
Thanks for the video great detail. I want to know if I can make a dual set out of a Freedom 4X and a Freedom 2X (Freedom 4X for me and Freedom 2X for my passenger) will they act the same as a Freedom 2X or 4X dual kit? My passenger does not require voice activation.
Honestly I think that the voice command is not that big of a deal I’ll handle the buttons on the 2x no problem. But it is also worth mentioning that the 4x has more canals of communication and more range other than the voice command so I think that the 4x is a better option for the rider while the pillon would be just as fine with the 2x
Just so you guys are aware, the cardo installation video for the freecoms says to use the wrong velcro at the wrong time (he says to use the square ones in the speaker cutout.) I got lucky and my helmet had enough room that using the circular velcro for the mic on the inside chin of the helmet worked regardless, but obviously not everyone will be so lucky. This video's instructions on the installation are correct, use the circular velcro for the speakers.
I've got the Freecom 4X, my buddy has the Packtalk Edge, and my other buddy has the Freecom 4+. For some reason when we connect to each other one or all of us loses the ability to play music from our phone. Is there something we're doing wrong? Is it possible to be in a 3 way intercom session while playing our personal music?
It could be possible that you can’t have multitasking music while having a live chat with different models.. have you tried with the same line of freecom?
Dear Cardo, there is major flaw in design. Not only me but many people reported loosing unit (falling off) when release button was accidentally pressed. Location of release button is on totally inappropriate place close to front (media) button. It never worked again, just blinked purple rapidly. Not even factory reset worked.
I try to ask here because I can't find this information anywhere (tutorial / cardo site / internet): can the cardo edge start a conference with the 2 Bluetooth channels "simultaneously" like the freecom 4x does or it can only make a conference in dmc?? (the packtalk edge user manual hints that it can be done but it's not clear at all. thank you very much

Is it possible to use the Cardo microphone via a Bluetooth transmitter plugged into a DJI Osmo Action 3 camera? I've just purchased a Freecom 2x, after setting everything up it seems good apart from a major issue with the TomTom rider 550 navigation commands. A short instruction such as "Turn next left" works ok, however, a longer instruction such as "Turn next left & then 2nd right onto the A500 has a major issue as follows: The last few words are shouted at extremely high volume (Jus like Nicolas Cage does at the end of every sentence) Anyone know how to stop the high volume at the end of a longer spoken instruction?

Hi Cardo I bought a Freedom 4 in March 2023 in Sydney, Australia, and I have encountered a problem I hope you may have a solution for. There is a little clip on the front of the unit to release it from its base on the helmet. On three occasions, I have found that the cardo unit only has to be bumped slightly, and it will release. The first time the unit came off, I was on a ride and stopped for a coffee, as I walked into the cafe, I must have brushed the unit against my leg or jacket, and it fell off. I wouldn't have known it had fallen off if it wasn't for another rider following me, seeing it on the floor and picking it up. I blamed myself for not clicking it into place properly, even though I had been particular about hearing the click when I put it on. I followed the instructions and believed I had correctly connected the unit to the base station. The other two occasions occurred when I had my helmet on and was adjusting controls before a ride, and I bumped the clip, and the unit has fallen off despite it being clicked into position. A frustrating experience! I was telling a friend who has a Sena unit, and he showed me the process to install or remove a Sena - it's much more secure and failsafe. The problem with my Freedom 4 is that the little clip that locks it into position protrudes from the unit and can be easily bumped or caught on things accidentally. It's a terrible locking device design, and I note that the latest Cardo unit is magnetised to stop it from falling off, which indicates that I'm not the only person to have experienced this issue. The shop I bought the unit claims to have never heard of the problem. But a search on UA-cam and a few other forums revealed other people losing their units while trying to adjust them while riding. Does Cardo have a solution I can implement, or do I have to tape it onto my helmet with Gaffa tape?
My friend had this same issue and lost his cardo on the highway and they said they never heard this issue and gave him a new unit for free. Now he doesn't have that issue, maybe it's just a production issue?

If you have to use the app, can you synch the songs on your phone in the app? 2. Can you still talk with the other rider while you are sharing music with them?

Hey there, I am looking for an Answer. While calling the zumo XT interupted the call . For what I have found in the manual I have to go to the settings to enable the parallel Audio streaming. But I can't find it in either the IOS App nor in the Android App. Hope you have an Answer.
Great product! Just got a second 2x for my girlfriend as she has started riding pillion. Whenever I have had a phone call with her and she has been in her car, or elsewhere, she has never heard any noise from the bike at all, nor wind noise - nada. When she is in her car however and uses the built in phone call system, her audio in my ears, are pure trash.
I havent been using much cardo or other telecommunication hardware except for phones, but i can tell you how shit cardo is to use when you dont have the manual. Scrolling back is cancelling a call, which is different from clicking the scroller to hang up, which is different to answering a call which is phone button. Basic 1-to-1 doesnt work. And there are no error messages in the app or any alerting to whats wrong. It takes 15 seconds to open the app. And it doesnt auto-refresh trying to connect a device, so you have to close and open the app every time!! What engineer made this userface so un-userfriendly?

Hey Cardo, one doubt: if I want to talk to other Cardo and listen the same music, can i do this? Because I bought the 2x and it seens that, or you both listen the same music or you both talk. The same can not be done. If the other Cardo wants to listen the music, needs to conect to the music in her phone.
I just installed the freecom 2x intercom on my helmet and I tried the operation in a quiet room and during a call I cannot be heard at all and I have to shout to hear me a little bit. I tried several settings but it doesn't work. Siri also has trouble understanding me. Is this normal?

Je recherche une solution pour inclure les fils dans le casque , car à cet endroit , j'ai la languette qui me sert à rabaisser ma visière soleil. Le cable doit de toute façon partir vers l'arrière , mais le gros point noir du Cardo , c'est la fragilité des fils. Pourquoi ne pas avoir fait un seul cable , plus gros , pour la partie qui doit restée dehors ? On se retrouve avec deux petits fils , à devoir chipoter , qui semblent trop fragile que pour supporter la pression de la mousse et le bord du casque , et supporter le frottement de la veste ou du col que l'on portera par temps maussade. Même votre exemple ne fait pas solide ,vos fils sont déja tendu, imaginer une veste en cuir frotter la contre. Alors oui , je recherche une solution pour solidifier ces fils avant de prendre la route avec. Car cela m'étonnerais que la garantie soie prise en charge pour ce genre de soucis du a la qualité.

Purchased the Freecom 4X. Harley Davidson 2-Pack. Would of been nice if the instructions clearly stated you only need to pair the driver headset to a phone, the passenger headset pairs to the drivers headset. Could of saved a couple of hours avoiding to pair both headset to the same phone. Also, would of been nice if instructions were included on pairing the driver headset to the Harley Boom Box with WHIM or the new Skyline radio since this is an HD product with HD branding. We pay a premium for the branding and we expect more from it. Would of also been nice if you had pointed out in this video that you also have a link for Harley owners on how to connect their new Cardo . Come on guys, you can do better. Now that you got the juicy exclusivity contract with HD, don’t make them regret it. You would be surprised how HD owners can be vocal about accessories for their scooters !

No you cannot have both rider and you talk and share music at the same time , its a lie by Cardo. YOU only!! will here the music in the back ground while in intercom mode, you have to drop out of intercomm for the other rider to hear music your sharing and you will lose the ability to communicate with them while doing so.😢

Just purchased today the 4x. My daughter and I were able to hear music and talk simultaneously. The music would fade down as we would speak and then come back up again when we were finished. Turned the units off went to McDonald’s came back to the bike got back on and everything worked as usual. Went to grandmas house hung out for a few and Then on our final ride home during our pre check all of a sudden we weren’t able to hear one another and play music simultaneously. It’s one or the other, and I have to go back into the app on my phone to pair the music again aswell 😢
This is the most convoluted and confusing system ever. I have a 4X and 2X. Turn on 4X- it auto connects to my phone. Great. Turn on 2X, hold pair button and they pair. Great. Intercom between the two seems to work fine but you cannot use the intercom and both listen to music at the same time. For both to hear the music, the intercom is off. Turn intercom back on and music stops on the 2X. Additionally, music volume is way higher than intercom volume. You SHOULD be able to fix this in the volume settings on the app. NO DICE. It does not work like that. I turn the music volume fader down to 50% and leave intercom volume at 100%. When you roll the wheel volume control down to turn music down, the intercom volume drops with it. I only want the music volume to turn down though. It just flat out doesnt work that way no matter how many times I tried and how many different things I tried with the volume controls in the app. If the things worked the way they claim it would be great, and admittedly when im alone, it's fantastic. But with my wife riding passenger, its basically unuseable for what I want to do. Both hear music, and be able to communicate with eachother at the same time. I dont want to have to tell Cardo to turn on intercom any time I want to say something. Please, tell me Im missing something.
Me and 2 others spent all day trying to connect to one another. It was so hit and miss. This video is not as easy as real life and in all honesty, for 175 quid a unit it should be as simple as just connecting to people at the press of a button. Absolute faff these things. Good when they work but it’s the rigmarole of getting them to that stage that massively lets it down
@@BH-tp3pm yeah shoot ive spend well over $500 altogether. They manage to work pretty quickly for us now but you cannot have both units listening to music and talking at the same time. If we are two way talking, only the main unit can hear music. If you switch it so both units hear music, 2-way talk stops. Like, seriously???? Bullshit.
I mean sure, having a conversation while listening to music could be distracting, I prefer talking with no background, but singing alone would be way more fun!
Honestly listening to music, riding, and trying to hear what someones saying sounds like a recipe for disaster. Ill only be doing one at a time so idrc about this 😂

I have a question. I have the Freecom 2X. If I have the intercom and a apple watch connected to the iphone. How I can ignore a call? Cause I rolled the wheel and doesnt ignore the call. So what can I do? desconnect the apple watch?

The boom microphone looks generic to cardo sets. When fitted according to video, to a modular helmet, the thickness of the mountings of the mike caused me extreme discomfort pushing against the cheek pad. Removing the mike resolved it. Any work around would be greatly appreciated.
The only issue I'm having so far with my 4x unit while riding with friends with the same units, is my music being WAY to loud while intercom function simultaneously. Meaning to be able to hear other riders I have to have my music up WAY to loud....is there a way to turn their voices up without having my music up WAY loud? Also the 1.2km is def false....we've tested it MANY times and don't even get a block away and they all disconnect. Other than that love the units so far

Try turning the phone volume down it may help with the jump in volume loudness , Phones are not perfect buy a long shot no matter how much you paid for it .
This is the same problem Im having and the volume controls DO NOT WORK for this. Ive tried turning down the music fader and it does nothing. It turns down the intercom too. It renders nearly $500 in purchasing these 2 almost useless. I cant blast my ears with music just to be able to hear my wife on the intercom. This should be a VERY easy thing to adjust. Turn music down, leave intercom level where its at. but it simply doesnt work.
Can you open the intercom with voicecontrol? I now have the Q3 and if I blow in the microfoon te communication opens. And can the Freecom 4X connect with the Q3?
I have two freecom 2+ units. When I turn off the first one, it says "battery status ...%", and after that it turn off. But the second unit doesn't says nothing when turn it off. What should I do to make the second one also give a message "battery status..."? Pls help.

Quick question, everything works fine on my device except one thing: When I get a phonecall, I can hear the ringtone through my phone / Apple watch but NOT through the speakers in my helmet. This causes me to miss calls because I don't hear them while riding. Is it possible to fix this & if so how? Thanks!
If the product is so good it should have a 3 year warranty at least . May get the freecom 4x myself a bit overkill for a single rider but it seems the way to go.

I don’t mount phone to handlebars. I prefer voice navigation & music only, and I always ride alone. 🤷♂️

@@Itspako8 found out the 4x doesn’t have enough Bluetooth connectivity to do this over two ppl. Ended up getting the edge

Dear Cardo, there is major flaw in design. Not only me but many people reported loosing unit (falling off) when release button was accidentally pressed. Location of release button is on totally inappropriate place close to front (media) button. It never worked again, just blinked purple rapidly. Not even factory reset worked.

I try to ask here because I can't find this information anywhere (tutorial / cardo site / internet): can the cardo edge start a conference with the 2 Bluetooth channels "simultaneously" like the freecom 4x does or it can only make a conference in dmc?? Is it possible to use the Cardo microphone via a Bluetooth transmitter plugged into a DJI Osmo Action 3 camera? I've just purchased a Freecom 2x, after setting everything up it seems good apart from a major issue with the TomTom rider 550 navigation commands. A short instruction such as "Turn next left" works ok, however, a longer instruction such as "Turn next left & then 2nd right onto the A500 has a major issue as follows:
The last few words are shouted at extremely high volume (Jus like Nicolas Cage does at the end of every sentence) Anyone know how to stop the high volume at the end of a longer spoken instruction?

I bought a Freedom 4 in March 2023 in Sydney, Australia, and I have encountered a problem I hope you may have a solution for. There is a little clip on the front of the unit to release it from its base on the helmet. On three occasions, I have found that the cardo unit only has to be bumped slightly, and it will release. The first time the unit came off, I was on a ride and stopped for a coffee, as I walked into the cafe, I must have brushed the unit against my leg or jacket, and it fell off. I wouldn't have known it had fallen off if it wasn't for another rider following me, seeing it on the floor and picking it up. I blamed myself for not clicking it into place properly, even though I had been particular about hearing the click when I put it on. I followed the instructions and believed I had correctly connected the unit to the base station.
The other two occasions occurred when I had my helmet on and was adjusting controls before a ride, and I bumped the clip, and the unit has fallen off despite it being clicked into position. A frustrating experience!
I was telling a friend who has a Sena unit, and he showed me the process to install or remove a Sena - it's much more secure and failsafe. The problem with my Freedom 4 is that the little clip that locks it into position protrudes from the unit and can be easily bumped or caught on things accidentally. It's a terrible locking device design, and I note that the latest Cardo unit is magnetised to stop it from falling off, which indicates that I'm not the only person to have experienced this issue. The shop I bought the unit claims to have never heard of the problem. But a search on UA-cam and a few other forums revealed other people losing their units while trying to adjust them while riding.
Does Cardo have a solution I can implement, or do I have to tape it onto my helmet with Gaffa tape?
My friend had this same issue and lost his cardo on the highway and they said they never heard this issue and gave him a new unit for free. Now he doesn't have that issue, maybe it's just a production issue?

Great product! Just got a second 2x for my girlfriend as she has started riding pillion. Whenever I have had a phone call with her and she has been in her car, or elsewhere, she has never heard any noise from the bike at all, nor wind noise - nada. When she is in her car however and uses the built in phone call system, her audio in my ears, are pure trash.

I havent been using much cardo or other telecommunication hardware except for phones, but i can tell you how shit cardo is to use when you dont have the manual.
Scrolling back is cancelling a call, which is different from clicking the scroller to hang up, which is different to answering a call which is phone button.
Basic 1-to-1 doesnt work. And there are no error messages in the app or any alerting to whats wrong.
It takes 15 seconds to open the app. And it doesnt auto-refresh trying to connect a device, so you have to close and open the app every time!!

Hey Cardo, one doubt: if I want to talk to other Cardo and listen the same music, can i do this? Because I bought the 2x and it seens that, or you both listen the same music or you both talk. The same can not be done. If the other Cardo wants to listen the music, needs to conect to the music in her phone.
I just installed the freecom 2x intercom on my helmet and I tried the operation in a quiet room and during a call I cannot be heard at all and I have to shout to hear me a little bit. I tried several settings but it doesn't work. Siri also has trouble understanding me. Is this normal?

Je recherche une solution pour inclure les fils dans le casque , car à cet endroit , j'ai la languette qui me sert à rabaisser ma visière soleil.
Le cable doit de toute façon partir vers l'arrière , mais le gros point noir du Cardo , c'est la fragilité des fils.
Pourquoi ne pas avoir fait un seul cable , plus gros , pour la partie qui doit restée dehors ?
On se retrouve avec deux petits fils , à devoir chipoter , qui semblent trop fragile que pour supporter la pression de la mousse et le bord du casque , et supporter le frottement de la veste ou du col que l'on portera par temps maussade.
Même votre exemple ne fait pas solide ,vos fils sont déja tendu, imaginer une veste en cuir frotter la contre.
Alors oui , je recherche une solution pour solidifier ces fils avant de prendre la route avec.
Car cela m'étonnerais que la garantie soie prise en charge pour ce genre de soucis du a la qualité.

Regarding the difference, the new 40mm speakers come with the new Packtalk EDGE, has an improved music processor, and have three redesigned audio profiles.

Purchased the Freecom 4X. Harley Davidson 2-Pack. Would of been nice if the instructions clearly stated you only need to pair the driver headset to a phone, the passenger headset pairs to the drivers headset. Could of saved a couple of hours avoiding to pair both headset to the same phone. Also, would of been nice if instructions were included on pairing the driver headset to the Harley Boom Box with WHIM or the new Skyline radio since this is an HD product with HD branding. We pay a premium for the branding and we expect more from it. Would of also been nice if you had pointed out in this video that you also have a link for Harley owners on how to connect their new Cardo . Come on guys, you can do better. Now that you got the juicy exclusivity contract with HD, don’t make them regret it. You would be surprised how HD owners can be vocal about accessories for their scooters !

No you cannot have both rider and you talk and share music at the same time , its a lie by Cardo. YOU only!! will here the music in the back ground while in intercom mode, you have to drop out of intercomm for the other rider to hear music your sharing and you will lose the ability to communicate with them while doing so.😢
I wonder if the radio turns itself on when the unit doesn't know what you said, as it does on all of our groups Packtalk Bolds?

Just purchased today the 4x. My daughter and I were able to hear music and talk simultaneously. The music would fade down as we would speak and then come back up again when we were finished. Turned the units off went to McDonald’s came back to the bike got back on and everything worked as usual. Went to grandmas house hung out for a few and Then on our final ride home during our pre check all of a sudden we weren’t able to hear one another and play music simultaneously. It’s one or the other, and I have to go back into the app on my phone to pair the music again aswell 😢
This is the most convoluted and confusing system ever. I have a 4X and 2X. Turn on 4X- it auto connects to my phone. Great. Turn on 2X, hold pair button and they pair. Great. Intercom between the two seems to work fine but you cannot use the intercom and both listen to music at the same time. For both to hear the music, the intercom is off. Turn intercom back on and music stops on the 2X. Additionally, music volume is way higher than intercom volume. You SHOULD be able to fix this in the volume settings on the app. NO DICE. It does not work like that. I turn the music volume fader down to 50% and leave intercom volume at 100%. When you roll the wheel volume control down to turn music down, the intercom volume drops with it. I only want the music volume to turn down though. It just flat out doesnt work that way no matter how many times I tried and how many different things I tried with the volume controls in the app. If the things worked the way they claim it would be great, and admittedly when im alone, it's fantastic. But with my wife riding passenger, its basically unuseable for what I want to do. Both hear music, and be able to communicate with eachother at the same time. I dont want to have to tell Cardo to turn on intercom any time I want to say something. Please, tell me Im missing something.
Me and 2 others spent all day trying to connect to one another. It was so hit and miss. This video is not as easy as real life and in all honesty, for 175 quid a unit it should be as simple as just connecting to people at the press of a button. Absolute faff these things. Good when they work but it’s the rigmarole of getting them to that stage that massively lets it down
@@BH-tp3pm yeah shoot ive spend well over $500 altogether. They manage to work pretty quickly for us now but you cannot have both units listening to music and talking at the same time. If we are two way talking, only the main unit can hear music. If you switch it so both units hear music, 2-way talk stops. Like, seriously???? Bullshit.

I mean sure, having a conversation while listening to music could be distracting, I prefer talking with no background, but singing alone would be way more fun!
Honestly listening to music, riding, and trying to hear what someones saying sounds like a recipe for disaster. Ill only be doing one at a time so idrc about this 😂

The is a conflict in the setup you just presented.
The Apple watch gets permission to use the phone and our unit.
Just remove one of them from the permissions, and it will work.

The boom microphone looks generic to cardo sets.
When fitted according to video, to a modular helmet, the thickness of the mountings of the mike caused me extreme discomfort pushing against the cheek pad. Removing the mike resolved it.
Any work around would be greatly appreciated.
The only issue I'm having so far with my 4x unit while riding with friends with the same units, is my music being WAY to loud while intercom function simultaneously. Meaning to be able to hear other riders I have to have my music up WAY to loud....is there a way to turn their voices up without having my music up WAY loud? Also the 1.2km is def false....we've tested it MANY times and don't even get a block away and they all disconnect. Other than that love the units so far
You should be able to tune your volume in the app under audio settings
I've got the Freecom 4X, my buddy has the Packtalk Edge, and my other buddy has the Freecom 4+. For some reason when we connect to each other one or all of us loses the ability to play music from our phone. Is there something we're doing wrong? Is it possible to be in a 3 way intercom session while playing our personal music?

Try turning the phone volume down it may help with the jump in volume loudness ,
Phones are not perfect buy a long shot no matter how much you paid for it .
This is the same problem Im having and the volume controls DO NOT WORK for this. Ive tried turning down the music fader and it does nothing. It turns down the intercom too. It renders nearly $500 in purchasing these 2 almost useless. I cant blast my ears with music just to be able to hear my wife on the intercom. This should be a VERY easy thing to adjust. Turn music down, leave intercom level where its at. but it simply doesnt work.

I have two freecom 2+ units. When I turn off the first one, it says "battery status ...%", and after that it turn off. But the second unit doesn't says nothing when turn it off. What should I do to make the second one also give a message "battery status..."? Pls help.

Quick question, everything works fine on my device except one thing:
When I get a phonecall, I can hear the ringtone through my phone / Apple watch but NOT through the speakers in my helmet. This causes me to miss calls because I don't hear them while riding.
