You made an excellent video. I posted a video changing the oil removing the rear firewall panel and I get comments it can be changed easier and they reference your video. If I ever own another defender I may try the tile change your way...although I'm not as young and talented as you. Great job Merry Christmas 😊
Just changed the oil on mine today like this. Was a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be. Took about 15 minutes. I did not take bed off or take cab apart. They did put the oil filter in a pretty stupid spot though in my opinion.
I did my first oil change this way, but I prefer to remove the access cover in the cab behind the seat to get better access to the oil filter recess as there is a lot of oil accumulation in there and I like to clean it out. Only takes a few minutes and if you need to adjust your valves you also have access to your front cylinder valve cover.
Nice video. I have been looking at buying a defender. Access to service the machine is a plus for me. I currently own a first gen commander which is a pain to service.
Polaris has a screw on filter this almost makes me go Polaris , the only difference in this and my older can am is I wouldn't have to take the engine cover off to get the filter out but my old one is definitely easier to get the screws out and replace the filter
You don’t take the cab off, it’s a panel in the cab that comes off, but the easiest way is to just take off center skid plate it take 10-15 mins now for the whole job that’s how I do it nowadays
Thanks for the vid. I only have about 10 hrs on mine but I'm glad to see it can be done without tearing apart the interior.
Looking forward to changing mine. NOT

very helpful video thanks!
How did you reset your maintenance minder light?
How do you like the buggy
Take a min. and remove the air box for more arm room to get in there
Do you change the other fluids?
Yeah we change everything
Lube oil filter rubber to prevent dry rot. Explain more please 😂🤦♂️
My manual says 2000 miles, no mention of early first change so mine isn't going to get changed till I get 2000 miles on it.
This on idles more then it drives to each their own!
200 hour first change
I am looking at a Defender and if I had to take the cab off I would go to Polaris

Helps prevent dry rot comment 🤦♂️
Looked into this in detail today. This a major design flaw in my opinion. Total deal breaker.
