    Rhythm is a big part of it too. It's like a dance. TJ has good board rhythm. So when he does anything it has rhythm and flow. I started noticing when I do small quick carves heel to toe or toe to heel I had to have my rhythm right. I started feeling like I was dancing. I started to have more fun and progress better building my confidence and having a lot of fun.

      I agree I would also say when jumping bringing your knees as close to your chest as possible, the stiffer you are the less style it looks like you have. like you said its all about the rhythm of your body popping up when you jump and really absorbing the landing when you land

    Hey Kevin! Just wanted to let you know that your videos are really fun and informative to watch, besides being a great motivation. Last week I went snowboarding in Germany for a day and, despite having no more than around 10 days of total experience, have 'officially' decided that this is a hobby I want to retain and progress in. While living in The Netherlands (where, as you most likely saw in Amsterdam, it can't be much more flat!) and being a student (rent and living equals some really nice gear a month, haha) does not make this the most easy hobby to pick up, snowboarding is so much fun that I have no other choice than working my ass off to be able to do so. I really love longboarding and have done so for many years, but snowboarding is just... Well, you know :-)
    So thanks again for the videos - I'll be watching some more, find the setup that suits me best, and next season will be mine!

    You guys would REALLY benefit from getting a cheap pair of plastic sawhorses to put your boards on when waxing. SO mush easier to iron and scrape on.
    All the best, DBZ

    • @durial702
      @durial702 4 роки тому +1

      I iron on sawhorses but scrape on the floor. For me scraping goes 2x as fast on floor, way easier to put hella body weight into it, especially in the center of the board, resulting in fewer passes w/ scraper.

      I'm 35 and work construction. You know I be using saw horses when waxing. It's all preference. Have to save my knees for the actual boarding and not grind them up while waxing. I am coping with a midlife crisis hahaga

    Would you say the Snowboard Addiction balance bar/board are worth it? I've been considering buying it as Scotland has been a bit iffy with snow the last couple years (looking good this year thankfully) and would really love to work on my techniques during the year when access to snow is not available!

    • @DanDryfhout
      @DanDryfhout 7 років тому +2

      I'd personally save your money and just use an old board. If you only have 1 board, it won't damage it badly..mostly just grass stains lol. I have used a training board quite a bit last year, and I found it wasn't the same when practicing presses, and well as throwing the weight of the board around.. don't get me wrong, they're awesome toys to play around on though.

      It doesn't have the same feel as the flat surface as a box does, but it works well as a rail replacement.

      I just picked up the 2017 model 152 (flat profile with a little rocker). I've only been on it 2 days, early season conditions but I liked it. I have it paired with some Flow NX2's and had a lot of fun on it. Which year model did you pick up? For some reason I was thinking I saw that the 2018 model changed to a standard camber profile, but wasn't sure? Hope you enjoy it!

    ***Waxing tip: Instead of just pushing the iron all over the board in random directions, go very slowly across the board from tip to tail. Do this twice along the whole board. You will heat up the base better this way, and don't worry about burning the base. All you have to look out for is smoke from the wax, if you see smoke you know the iron is too hot just turn it down a notch or two. Doing it this way ensure even coverage and better wax absorption by the base. Also I'd recommend getting a nylon brush with brass in the middle to structure the wax once you've scraped off all the excess. Same method applies, just brush the board tip to tail all along the base. This allows water to channel away from the base more quickly while you're riding which makes your board faster.
    I remember someone saying in one of your videos that their board felt stickier after waxing which is not a good thing, so I hope this helps! You guys do a lot of riding so I imagine you're frequently tuning up your boards.

    So what I try to do when I want to ride stylish i just try to carve a bit (grabs while carving - easy but looks dope), get some presses going and slashing in some turns... just like mixing it up to a loose,surfy playful style... by any means I’m not the best but I think trying can get u a really long way... :)
    Just keep shredding!
    And a little suggestion for u kevin: maybe use some music which is a bit more chill and not house (for example rap or some cool mellow beats) :)
    Especially for vids like these where the vibe is more loose and not too serious like some slopestyle part ;)
    Of course still a dope vid!
