    The elongated arc 0.047 compare to center line arc 0.0393 is almost 20% elongated. Will this 20% stretch in the steel affect the strength of the steel. Is there any specific limitation in IS code that sets any maximum limits to stretching of steel?
    if the bent is made with a larger radius, then the elongation can be reduced. is it a good idea to use a larger bent radius, for example above 3d instead of 2d?

    4.10 : For CTD bar confirming IS 1786, k=4, which is generally used at site for RCC nowadays. If you take k=4 you will get bend deduction for 90°= 2# which is practiced at site. So for MS and HYSD bar value is different.

      Upto a diameter of 16 mm, only deduction of 1D is used at site...
      2D is a misconception. You can verify at site that if deduction of 2D is used, the hook length of the stirrups would be shorter than required.

      @@vikastripathi2696 you don't get it , he is talking about the value of k for Mild Steel and CTD bars are different even in the same dia category , hence bend deduction value of both bars will also differ.

    Ek question hain. Aap ne 90 degree k liye calculation kiye hain. Agar 90 chorke koi aur degree k bend hain to kya sirf degree k valu change karke baki calculation eki rahega? Matlab har time kya 2R se arc length deducted hogi?

    sir agar mai stirrup cutting length find out kar raha hu or bend deuction 1d 2d 3d respective angle ke liye deduct kar raha hu to length calculation ke liye mai konsi length consider kar inside wali center wali ya outside wali

    Sir as per is 2502 the value of k is 2 for mild steel, 3 for medium tensile and 4 for cold twisted bar 1786 as per above format if we substitute the value of k as 4 and derive values for bbs bend will it be correct.

    Sir, formula for cutting length of stirrup is 2(a+b) +24d?... It is as per center line?... Do we need to apply bend deduction in it?

      2((a+d)+(b+d))+2x10d= given , 10d for hook. Bend deduction required when we calculate from outer dimension of ring. Generally we deduct cover and work with outer dimension of ring, so we deduct for bend.

    Excellent. One doubt pz. At 8.08 , you mention that internal redius is 25 mm. Couldn't get it. Can you please elaborate. We consider kd as R. Which is the reference for taking 25 mm as internal diameter? Is it required?

    Excellent video sir.
    If there is no relationship between elongation and bend deduction , why these deductions are done?
    Basically there is a connection as -> ( elongation for outer bend - contraction for inner bend = deduction length ) .
    If deduction length is 0 then it may be said that there is no relationship between them , but there is some length left to deduct so there is connection !

      yes you are right in this elongation length is greater than contraction length so there is some length to deduct due to required elongated length so ultimately there is connection of elongation in bend deduction.

    Dear sir, I am still confused about on page no 10 of IS 2502:1963 table V , A , Approx. Total Length of Bar (L) Measured Along Centre Line is A + E -1/2 R -d , sir I didn't understand this.regards.

      A+E-1/2R-d
      here as per 3.2.1(Note-1) from this code value of R is k.d and value of k is 2 upto 25 mm dia bar.
      now, R=2d then A + E -1/2 R -d =A + E -1/2 (2d) -d
      finally for 1 bend deduction like table V / shape A length =A + E -2d

    As per is code we can calculate stirrup length as (A+B) +24d
    But when we use the concept of bend deduction as derived by you i.e 1.1d then two lengths do not match

    Still not cleared why it is not followed @ site. Also there is NO elongation in a bend as centre line is same after i.e (elongation = compression). This deduction is due to the fact that while bending bar doesn't follow exact rectangular cornes & it takes curves/arcs which has less length than corners thus, this length is deducted from total length to exactly match the curved length practically seen.

      Jaise Sir 8mm ke liye jo coefficient Aaya Hai vah 0.009 per aapane likha hai 1.1. yah 1.1 Kaise aaya hai sirf yah Bata dijiye Mera doubt clear ho jaega. Kyunki 1.1 Jo Aaya Hai vahan 10 mm ke liye aaya hai aur Vahi aapane Sabhi Diameter per apply kiya hai.
