No histrionics, no embellishments, no vocal acrobatics, just pure voice and melody of this great song flowing from this beautiful woman's mouth and heart. She was one of a kind.
Love you Cass, rest in peace dear.
And thanks for all of the joy that your singing provided.

Agreed...We have long reached the time where, so many indulge in,
" Vocal Gymnastics, " that singing a song, " SIMPLY, " is refreshingly simply beautiful...
Mama Cass Elliott...Wonderful singer, and pretty beautiful in her own way...May GOD rest her in peace...❤

In a little while from now
If I'm not feeling any less sour
I promise myself to treat myself
    And visit a nearby tower
    And climbing to the top
    Will throw myself off
    In an effort to
    Make it clear to whoever
Wants to know what it's like when you're shattered
Left standing in the lurch at a church
Were people saying, My God, that's tough
    She stood him up
    No point in us remaining
We may as well go home
As I did on my own
    Alone again, naturally
    To think that only yesterday
I was cheerful, bright and gay
Looking forward to who wouldn't do
The role I was about to play
But as if to knock me down
    Reality came around
And without so much as a mere touch
    Cut me into little pieces
    Leaving me to doubt
Talk about, God in His mercy
Oh, if he really does exist
    Why did he desert me
    In my hour of need
    I truly am indeed
    Alone again, naturally
    It seems to me that
There are more hearts broken in the world
    That can't be mended
    Left unattended
    What do we do
    What do we do
    Alone again, naturally
    Looking back over the years
    And whatever else that appears
I remember I cried when my father died
Never wishing to hide the tears
    And at sixty-five years old
My mother, God rest her soul
Couldn't understand why the only man
She had ever loved had been taken
    Leaving her to start
With a heart so badly broken
    Despite encouragement from me
    No words were ever spoken
    And when she passed away
I cried and cried all day
    Alone again, naturally
    Alone again, naturally

    1) The person who wrote this song understood genuine, deep pain and loneliness. THAT is great songwriting.
    2) This beautiful soul was a trailblazer who paved the way for some of today’s stars. Being obese in Cass’s day was frowned upon and there was no “body positive” agenda going. Without Cass, we wouldn’t have Adele (or Lizzo).
The music world lost a true leader of the arts the night she passed away.

This song sums up my life. Now my spouse passed away I find myself Alone Again, Naturally. Being alone and lonely is the worst feeling a human being can feel. I don’t feel I deserve this at this older age. No family, really and no friends and now my great and loving spouse is gone. Now it is just Bible study, television, and the internet.

My life as well. I was the youngest in a 4 family member home. Everyone is gone now. This had been my favorite song for over 30 years.

Two favorite sayings: "Those we love don't go away, they walk beside us everyday. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed, and forever dear." & "There is magic in our sense of longing".

@darrelljustice6105 i agree with you on everything but always near. As my family died off and left me all alone, I still love & miss them, but I do not feel their presence. I just feel as though I will never see them again. I do not believe the promises in the Bible. Too much of it is hard to swallow and impossible for me to keep the faith.

@@garrettq1977 I wish I was near and I would explain the Bible and make it easy. It says we will see our saved loved ones again but in new bodies and be in pure joy

Unique voices, that's what I've been craving in music lol. This was amazingly done in comparison to the other covers but more importantly compared to the original.

“It seems to me that there are more hearts broken in the world than can be mended … left unattended … what do we do?” The older I get, the more painfully real this line becomes. 😢

Mama Cass Elliot carregou nas costas uma linda e espetacular era de paz, amor e psicodelia. Foi uma cantora vencedora e sua morte calou de vez uma época dourada, definitivamente.

When I saw this on TV it touched me deeply in a way the original didn't, and I was just a kid. But I don't remember the accompaniment being so overwhelming, maybe the restoration?
