- 2001 Halloween special "Night of the Living Doo" -- originally aired in segments during Cartoon Network's 24 Hours of Doo marathon, then in it's full form. Animation by Natterjack (whose watermark is in the bottom right corner).
Features Grey DeLisle in one of her earliest appearances as Daphne, Scott Innes as Shaggy & Scooby (including replacing Casey Kasem's holler in the theme song), BJ Ward as Velma and Frank Welker as Fred (though oddly credited as Freddy) and Jabberjaw. Also features Gary Coleman, David Cross, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy and Mark Hamill as themselves, with Mark Hamill also voicing Shifty.

I saw this one night when i was in and out dozing on the sofa. I wasnt sure that i hadnt dreamed this, because it made as much sense as a dream

This feels so much like a precursor to "Scooby-Doo and Guess Who." (I know it's actually parodying "The New Scooby-Doo Movies," but still.)

Why this wasn't on adult swim for Halloween is beyond me.

It's surreal to hear that they didn't redub the voice clips of Don messicks version of Scooby-Doo for the clips of the new Scooby-Doo movies intro seen in the intro of this speical that chase song was excellent as well I loved it alot also the fact that they use some old footage of the classic series for some sences of this speical is pretty excellent and really cool to see it agian and I love how they reused the orginal series background music in this
Yeah, it’s definitely odd they went through the trouble to replace Shaggy’s line, but left Scooby’s. And I also think it was really cool the way they reused a lot of the animation sequences that the original series frequently reused… the one that’s like a close up of Fred talking I remember getting used all the time.

@Will N, "Legend of the Vampire" and "Monster of Mexico" are more different than "What's New," being more or less a dead-on throwback to the original shows the way this special is, even going as far as to get Heather North as Daphne and Nicole Jaffe as Velma. "What's New" is like a more realistic and lighthearted version of the first four direct-to-video movies that generally strictly follows the classic "bad guy in disguise" formula.
But then years later, "Scooby-Doo and Guess Who" would come out, which is also a lot like "Night of the Living Doo" here, combined with those 2002-03 direct-to-video throwback movies.

I was in kindergarten and only got to watch some of the marathon. My vaguest memories being “who the hell was that black guy in the red jumpsuit?” I had no idea until more than a decade later that they made up a whole story that stretched between the entire marathon! Or the other previous Scooby marathons!
my guess after gary fell down a trap door someone must of knockeed him out then sprayed him with zombie green paint similar to how the snow ghost did to shaggy except after falling shaggy passed out after seeing the snow ghost and it was ghost white paint

Such brilliant subtle comedy that’s easy to miss. It’s why I prefer the pre 2005 era of TV. It was all character driven and CREATIVE!

He sounds very different from Casey. It's always very obvious when it's not Casey Kasem voicing shaggy.

@@giotrapani7852 I think he's good, but he can't do as much of the high pitched voice-breaks in his shaggy voice, compared to Casey's shaggy (and other shaggy voice actors like Matthew Lillard and Billy West).

And Velma voiced by BJ Ward will voice Madelyn Dinkley in the sequel of Abracadabra Doo in 2023.
Is this true she should still be Velma, Scott should still be scooby.
This was great. Back when adult swim was good.

Besides, for anyone who remembered watching "Scooby Doo and Scrappy Doo" S1 episode "Shiver and shake that demon's a Snake", I saw the part where Scooby was about to eat Devil's fudge chocolate cake, but Scrappy took the whole cake, and the writers have forgotten about the fact that Chocolate is poison to dogs! That devil's fudge Chocolate cake could have killed Scrappy! Not likely if Dogs who can talk were amune to Chocolate!
