Gary Colman was a on unrecognized under appreciated genius. He brought such warmth and humanity to the screen that you don’t find in young actors or in Hollywood today. He was a natural talent. I see a lot of myself in him. Being born on the 8th means that he is special. His sad and tragic life is a tragedy. I hope he finds happiness in heaven.

For some reason, I see a trailer for a Gary Coleman doc on Peacock, then I was like "Wasn't there a movie where Gary Coleman plays a pyromaniac?", so I decided to search for it and this video happens to be uploaded only 7 hours ago. Talk about a bizarre coincidence.

Gary Coleman was one of my favorite actors growing up my mommy recorded this on the video machine for us and we watched this movie a lot over the years. I really love Gary's performance in this movie it shows how versatile he is he can play the role of Arnold a fun-loving little kid living with a white guy and a cool brother named Willis and also play his role in this movie to perfection being ultra dramatic ignition moments that needed and making you want to just cry because he was such a good good actor making you believe in everything that was going on at the moment.

After different strokes went off the air everyone was so happy to hear of this movie coming on and they get to see their favorite actor once again in a role of a lifetime. The Hollywood producers just do not make the same type of movies anymore with that classic music they just don't even have the same type of cool music that they used to have why can't they even make music with the movies like they used to. The music in this movie really makes you more sentimental. 😊

The weird thing is I was thinking there would be a future repeat of it. But it never happened. Maybe because it wasn't that good or because it was that intense. I feel it's the latter, because it's a very good film. Thank you for presenting lost art.👍
I haven’t watched this since it aired. Thanks for posting. I guess Ms. Tyson and Mr. O’Neal had nothing else on their schedule to do this hokey TV movie. On another note, Gary really wanted to shake his “Arnold” persona and character when he did this. This was a big deal back then. RIP to Gary, Cicely, Ron, and Yaphet. On another note, that girl that was diggin Gary’s character wouldn’t piss on him in real life. HA!
Yep, I thought the same thing about the girl (Tammy Lauren) who was into Gary's character (David). He wouldn't be able to get anywhere near that, especially the scene of them alone together on bed in the bedroom during the party! No way, no how! Hehe. Being new to the school, a tall football jock (possibly Travolta's nephew) would be all over her and David would be mad and really ready to start a house fire! Gary Coleman probably insisted on that subplot himself to fortify his romantic, leading man creds! Honestly, watching this, I thought it was laughable and kept imagining an angry, demented bug-eyed Arnold burning down Drummond's crib in an unhinged fit of rage while the family slept in a very, very special episode of Diff'rent Strokes!
@@timothyhayden You’re right. I think Gary did have a hand in that subplot. She would’ve NEVER EVER been in a room with him in any shape or form. No offense but it looked like a joke.
No, he wasn’t trying to shake his image. His parents made him to work between the seasons of different strokes being filmed, while he was sick. I remember the interviews, accusations, and the adoptive parents lies.
@@ladyofthecentury I don't think Playing with Fire was a good vehicle for Gary Coleman, for obvious reasons discussed above. I've seen Gary in post-DS interviews saying if he could do it all over again, he would have shunned show business and just lived a low key life. I was all about Diff'rent Strokes when I was a kid, but, behind the scenes, I think Gary was done dirty by everyone who used him as a meal ticket. As far as the other DS kids, I am freaked out that Todd Bridges and Dana Plato had a sexual relationship! I guess it was their way of seeking comfort from each other from the business.
This is a rare hard to find movie, ive always heard about this movie, and seen the trailer on UA-cam while brousing one day,and i tried looking for the actual movie, and nobody had ever uploaded it on here i guess, and now thanks to u i finally get a chance to watch it and see what it is ,looked very serious and very dramatic seeing the trailer, and guess this must have been Gary coleman s first serious drama Tv role, playing a troubled kid who gets into serious mischief and is totally a opposite of his Comedic cute little Arnold from Different Strokes character .
I REMEMBER SEEING THIS MOVIE WHEN I WAS 8 YEARS OLD. IT CAME OUT A WEEK BEFORE MY 9TH BIRTHDAY, 4/23. THIS MOVIE TAUGHT ME A LESSON ABOUT PLAYING WITH FIRE OR ANYTHING THAT IS DANGEROUS.
It’s Gary Coleman like you’ve never seen him before! He has cheered your hearts, now he’s going to touch your hearts in the shocking NBC world television premiere about a young boy‘s desperate plea for love and understanding. Gary Coleman in playing with fire next Sunday.
I dont think ive ever heard of this movie. I was a huge fan of his back in the late 70s/ early 80s. Heck, everyone was. Gary Coleman seemed to get typecast as an orphan in most of his movies n tv shows. It's kind of strange seeing him in a film with parents. Nice surprise to see Ron O'Neal aka SUPER FLY!
@ Everyone To all that are grateful for finally being able to see this film again!!! I am TheShadowknight!! And it was my pleasure!!!

@@ghanasoul unless he was...Gary Coleman...ironically.
Thanks! I've been telling my kids about this!!
Someone finally put it up! You are awesome!!!

If his classes are far apart, that’s why he should NOT be late

This is a rare hard to find movie, ive always heard about this movie, and seen the trailer on UA-cam while brousing one day,and i tried looking for the actual movie, and nobody had ever uploaded it on here i guess, and now thanks to u i finally get a chance to watch it and see what it is ,looked very serious and very dramatic seeing the trailer, and guess this must have been Gary coleman s first serious drama Tv role, playing a troubled kid who gets into serious mischief and is totally a opposite of his Comedic cute little Arnold from Different Strokes character .
Definitely!! The promo from 1985 says “Gary Coleman like you’ve never seen him before.”
@@AvaZinn yup!!..im curious if Tod Bridges ever did a dark role opposite his Willis character from Different Strokes
@@randallagbayani7466 If my memory serves me correctly, I don’t believe Todd Bridges ever did a dark role.
So sad all 3 of them passed away 😢❤
“The house is on fire”
“Whats you talking about Willis?”
😂😂😂😂
😅😅😅😅
Lol
This is amazing content I have also started archiving all of my Days of our lives 1983 to 1999 VHS tapes. I'd give anything for content from 1965-1982
I liked this made for tv movie, it had such an awesome cast! Ron O'Neal (Super Fly) was so handsome! ❤️
I automatically felt nostalgic when I saw this.
Great Movie so many great actors in this film
