The best aspect ratio for a foldable is the square-root of 2. This is the basis of the A series used for European paper sizes. Whenever you fold the rectangle in 2, the resulting rectangle has the same aspect ratio.
Overall I'm a fan of RCS, but one problem I've run into is that if the other person you are texting has RCS on but no Internet connection, by default Google Messages does not automatically send an SMS Message if the RCS doesn't go through, and won't send a notification to let you know your message didn't send. I've run into situations where I sent a message and didn't realize until hours later that it didn't go through because i typically don't leave the Messages app open. Thankfully I was able to find a setting to send an SMS automatically if RCS fails but imo that setting should also be on by default.
@@ITMedCEO Yeah, as I said in my first comment I found that setting, but I think it would be a better user experience if it was on by default rather than something I had to spend time figuring out how to fix.
This budget game is my new favorite thing on the internet! Most of these budget situations are very relatable to my own real life, it’s good to know what most value gadgets to get when you are in budget.
I use Arc and I believe part of the design language was that you can contain all sorts of contexts and situations in one window. Now, it makes sense to you have have maybe 2 windows of the same "space" open so you can have even more tabs open, but 7 windows with a mix of different spaces is definitely not the intended design 😂.
Best part of Fridays for me, thank you guys for another awesome episode. Also love the new 'Break the Budget' game, hope y'all bring that back sometime
UA-cam Music would easily be my favourite podcast streaming app if Google just killed Podcasts and moved the entire library to UA-cam Music. Also with podcasts like WVFRM, most of it is audio friendly but there are definitely sections I'd rather watch as video (like when you're pulling up articles or photos on the screen or when David flashes Andrew) and not want to miss out on. So for me, the ability to toggle between audio and video seems like a pretty neat feature!
I love the break the budget game, tho I feel like 3 items is limiting, making it 4 would make it more interesting. I hope it comes back and with 4 items. ❤
Since we are at the topic of flash light…. Mid 2000s Sony had introduced xenon flash in their phones …. Exactly like their cybershot cameras… it was pretty cool…
@droid-guyfor the podcast yeah. That’s why Adam and Ellis sit there. They control the audio and video. If you listen at the end outro you’ll hear Andrew say Adam Molina and what he does
What about Xenon flashes on phones? They were a thing for a while ( I still have the plug-on one for my Sony Ericsson K750i) and made night-time indoor shots on earlier camera phones look great. Much better fill than a tiny LED flash.
27:13 I use the flash if I'm talking a photo indoors that requires a lot of detail. Like the lettering on the side of a ebike tire to make sure I can see the PSI. Or if I'm taking a picture of the part of my bike that light is not going to get to, enough light.
Google's next step should be obvious -- and a priority for them: opening up the RCS API to 3rd-party messaging apps. If they want it to be a global standard, it needs to work with/between the messaging apps that users are choosing to install, not just Google's own Messages.
I use my phone's flash solely when I'm scanning documents or just taking close up pictures of things I know won't reflect the flash like crazy. But yeah it's definitely off by default.
It can not be the Mix 3, as it does already exists with product name Perseus, and was launched in 2018-19 as a sliding screen phone. It is the Mix Fold 3.
26:35 I wonder how a offset flash at the opposite side of the camera would feel. Like if flashes were at the bottom of the phone to leave some 10cm separation so it would cast more shadows and remove the monotonous look. Would it be used more for photos ? hmm
That yeh! When credit music rolls was highly similar to nothings notification tone with the same name. Alsooooo multiple instances if Arc was hilarious 😂😂
I love the budget game, but it was full of hypotheticals. Still it provides your word on what you would actually buy, given a budget. Could you do a video twice a year where you compare and recommend which phone to buy in various price categories - budget, mid range, flagship? I saw your video for Pixel 7 and really want to buy that, but after seeing Asus zenfone 10, I am confused again.
59:29 the best clip out there, they put in the good word for DJI I would have definitely bought a drone at any of those budgets then a phone then some earbuds😂❤ I am at heart a drone Enthusiast so that's where I'd be going
The budget game would have been much more interesting if it was at least 3 devices instead of only 3 devices; we would have got a lot of good product recommendations under the 200 and 100 USD mark from these absolute tech experts ❤
1:04:25 Mine is iPhone X, the battery is 75%, I have to charge it like 10 times a day🤣. but honestly, I like its size and the curved edges and it's all I need in a phone
A “jump in” feature would totally work for podcasts on tik tok. Find it interesting over a minute long clip, jump in and listen maybe until the end. Or restart from the beginning?
I already commented on the smartphone awards regarding the foldable category and also commented “Microfiber”. Please see 35:42. U promised guys. Been waiting for this moment and an avid listener on all of ur platforms.
The main reason I don’t see Apple adopting RCS until some government forces it is because for me personally, there’s nothing stopping me from buying an Android phone besides iMessage at this point, and I doubt I’m alone. Apple might only lose a few customers from that, but it must be enough
That’s just false. There are millions of people who own iPhones solely because their friends and family have them and communicating would be hard if they had an android. This removes that barrier.
@@toptiertech7291 you are just wrong, Even with RCS on there would still be tons of features in iMessage that would be Apple exclusive that would absolutely keep people glued to iPhones. Literally the only thing keeping RCS off does is make Apple customers lives worse by making it harder to communicate with people with Androids. Apple's decision negatively affects their customers and would cost them almost nothing in terms of customer base. They would rather make a customer's lives harder and increase friction communicating with Android users to increase their market share then rely on their already superior product in iMessage. It's kinda wack.
With Marquez's budget I bought a Samsung Galaxy S21 refurbished $448 Redmi Buds 4 pro $85 Asus Vivobook Flip 14 OLED $844 Samsung Galaxy watch 4 Active refurbished $104 I'm South African by the way
I still use a 3rd party texting app (Textra) on my phone. They don't have RCS yet, and I'm waiting just waiting for it. The API being released so late (or has it even yet?) is a huge downside.
Just FYI, the Fold 3 is $450 brand new in my country. Foldables are no longer expensive. (Flippables at least...) And sure, it's 2 years old, but still.
Where can you find a better beginning of Friday than this! Good morning! People of the internet!
The best way
To start a Friday
What time on Friday do new eps come out?
meanwhile, here is midnight of friday, so ... a good start for Saturday^^
But it’s Saturday today 😂
The budget game is the most relatable, real-life experience out of all the WVFRM podcast history.
It’s Friday boys!
IT'S FRIDAY!!!
Boys indeed, I just saw the podcast with Hank Green as guest, 97-3 ratio is insane...I wonder if that has changed at all.
It’s Friday again !
It's gotten to a point where I look forward to Friday just for the podcasts.
Been there. Probably still am. Get a life.

Yepp. Wan Show to Wvform to Vergecast is a Friday routine now

We want a phone that I can crumble into the bottom of my Jansport backpack between 3rd and 4th period on a busy Wednesday.

How is it that I'm not really interested in anything you're talking about but I listen for an hour?? You guys make tech topics SO accessible! Love it!
30:13 poor andrew, he got flash banged 😂
The worst thing about taking photos with the flash is that he's oftentimes moving so fast that he's just a blur in the shot
Easily the best podcast i'm listening to. It's like hanging out with tech-enthusiast friends. More fun segments like the budget game please!
Fridays start with WVFRM Podcast and end with WAN Show. ❤
This budget game is my new favorite thing on the internet! Most of these budget situations are very relatable to my own real life, it’s good to know what most value gadgets to get when you are in budget.
The reaction to the MAGIC BATTERY is quite MAGICAL 😂
And like any Apple battery, lasts for 2 hours and dies after a year.
I use Arc and I believe part of the design language was that you can contain all sorts of contexts and situations in one window. 31:42 @David, if OnePlus called the feature Hasselflash I think i would still turn it Hasselhoff. 😂
Congrats on 300k subs!
Best part of Fridays for me, thank you guys for another awesome episode. Also love the new 'Break the Budget' game, hope y'all bring that back sometime
26:50 Flash is important for scanning QR codes, e.g., using scooters at night.
W for Google getting RCS on by default. The road to RCS is real

The RCS campaign from Google is exactly what BurgerKing did to McDonalds with the McWhopper campaign on peace day years ago
I love how playful and fun the waveform podcast is every time. Thank you for brightening my Friday up!
It feels like a friendly conversation next to a beer. It almost gives the impression of sitting there with them, for some reason.

I am surprised that David didn’t get a camera for his personal use, in the budget game
Andrew is savage when it comes to X and Apple and I love it!

The $80 disk drive is called the SuperDrive not a MagicDrive ☺️

I love how simple Adam's tech needs are. It's honestly very refreshing against the cutting edge tech they're always surrounded with and discussing
He’s just an average consumer who happens to edit clips 😂
@droid-guyfor the podcast yeah. That’s why Adam and Ellis sit there. They control the audio and video. If you listen at the end outro you’ll hear Andrew say Adam Molina and what he does
