yes. but first try to sit on a couple of pillows to elevate the hips higher than the knees. most people fall asleep meditating on their back if they're not very experienced.
This is a challenging question and depends on your current situation. Generally as with everything, the more you practice the better. Practice every day and see what happens after a few months or years.

When I sit with crossed legs my feets go numb, can I be in savasana, or any position that feels comfortable to be able to meditate properly?
