Thanks for doing the hard graft for us John. I now need to dig out that Small Faces and spin the B-side. Love that Dexys version. I love Chris Farlowe's version of Moanin'. Cheers Dale
You can just imagine that Small Faces B-side being played on Radio Caroline! The B side of All or Nothing is great too - a track called Understanding. Totally loved the mid 60s feel of that OJays tune. Right up my alley! Plus I love those wonderful old labels. Cheers John. 🙏
Hi Andy. I knew you’d like the O’Jays tune. Both sides of that 7” are a treat. I think that collecting 45s is as much about the old labels as the music. I never get tired of looking at old singles. Cheers. John
As a lifelong Mod, and Small Faces fan, i can certainly vouch for Grow Your Own, it certainly is a 'banger', so to is the track Own Up Time, on the debut album, which is possibly better, certainly the extended version is. The Otis Redding show you refer to is a Ready Steady Go special, absolutely brilliant!
Hey Neil. I don’t know the SF debut album so I don’t think I’ve heard Own Up Time. I’ll check it out. Yes, I meant to say that Otis was on Ready Steady Go but I couldn’t quite engage my brain! 😀. Cheers. John
The Blenders really gave me that feel goood!! And Dexy’s was hookin’ me in🎶👏🏻🎶the O’Jays never fail Bside Cside Dside lol I’m being ridiculous now! Take care ✊🏻🎶😎☀️👏🏻
Liked all of them though Dexy's was quite different from the original. Where did all those white sleeves with football stickers come from John? Never seen 70s(?) european teams ones before either the earliest I have is European Championships 1980 (though I don't remember getting them even though it's says Martin and Class 5 on the cover).
Hi Martin. I bought a bunch of old reggae singles from Brum Reseller and they all came in sleeves with those stickers on. I think they’re really cool! You can’t beat a bit of 70’s footy 👍
@@PrettyGreenVinylGuy Oh wow! Yes, I went last year. I thought the show was incredible. It really was something special, wasn’t it? Glad you enjoyed it.
Hi Terry. I’m sure you were as cool as in you4 donkey jacket 😀. I bloody love Dexys. I actually think that those first three albums just get better with time, Don’t Stand Me Down especially. Cheers. John.
Didn't Dexys cover "Soul Finger" as well 🤔🤔🤔 I'm sure i heard The Small Faces got some sort of clothing allowance/ payment ??? which helped their cool look etc... 🤔🤔🤔
Hi Nick. How’s it going? I reckon you’re on to something with the Small Faces h@bing a clothing allowance. They always looked incredible. See you Saturday 👍
The Small Faces had some great B sides. My favourite is the flip of Itchycoo Park....I'm Only Dreaming. What a beauty that one is.
Hi Steve. Yes, Itchycoo Park is another great double sider. As you say, I’m Only Dreaming is a beaut.
Interesting topic for a Sunday evening. Enjoyed hearing the B sides. Cheers
Cheers John. You can’t beat a good b-side!

@@6inchpianist im amazed that you have never heard the Small Faces debut LP. Its a great album, which sounds like nothing else from that era.

Hi John. Ian McLagan's keyboards are inspired. Lovely track by the O'Jays too.
Hi Carl. Yes, Ian McLagen was a wonderful musician. I saw him a few times playing with Billy Bragg. His passion always came across. Cheers. John

Looking forward to it 👍👍👍
"Grow Your Own" really is like Booker T. & the MGs on purple hearts! A floor filler!
Ha! Yeah, it’s definitely a bit more frantic sounding than the MG’s 👍
@@6inchpianist "Almost Grown" is another killer Magic Midgets flipside from the pre-Immediate Years.
