  • Join me as I tackle Zwift's toughest climb, "The Grade," and test whether virtual cycling can truly prepare you for real-world challenges like the Sportive Struggle Borderlands. In this video, I dive into the ups and downs (literally!) of my training journey, balancing family time with fitness during the school holidays, and pushing my limits on the 3 km climb with an 8.6% gradient. I'll also share my thoughts on how Zwift helps me find my rhythm, boost my FTP score, and get ready for the steep hills of the Yorkshire Dales. Don't forget to like, comment, and share your thoughts on indoor vs outdoor training!

I think that the software is one aspect but the other is whether your hardware accurately matches elevation and doesn't put you into a synthetic granny gear when you hit the hardware limit. For example, my old tacx flux only went up to 10% whereas my stages sb20 goes up to 25% - more than enough. I personally use TrainerDay to accurately model inclines and i find it pretty realistic. It always feels harder outside and I put that down to road surface friction but, I agree with you, that this helps build the legs up for climbing outside.

@@rogerpembery4281 yeah I've definitely felt the synthetic granny gear at the higher percentages. I'm content for the time being with my trainer, I'm far from exceeding its limitations 😅
TrainerDay, I'll have to give that a whirl at some point as well
