Ha. I just noticed during ur patreon plug scene, that i have the same wall rack. Mine was wood tone tho. Poorly finished so i repainted black. I found its a fantastic mini display. Up out of the way. Can place eye height, but more importantly the spacing between supports works out that most minis fit perfect. Used to be my paint holder about 5 yrs ago until i finally built a dedicated paint rack. These base vids are awesome. I dont know how much ill use comic style basing, but i love learning new techniques.
@@Epicduck Being a fencer, I love the names of their brushes :) And thanks for the discount...but the shipping is expensive for shipping to EU. When I need more brushes I'll order more together to mitigate the shipping.
Dude I'm always blown away by your result. I was going to try and do a Guard army in your style but after doing one test model I was too scared to continue due to time x horde. I feel like I need to start playing Necromunda or something with limited models to give this a proper go.
Epic Duck Studios great way to boost your channel. Your painting is fantastic. I've never read a comic in my life, the art style always rubbed me wrong. On miniatures I absolutely love it.
I do! It's Badger Stynylrez, I use their black to establish the primer base, and then usually airbrush on a zenithal highlight of their white primer. This is mostly so the miniatures show up better on camera, because an all-black miniature is hard to read on video :)
Absolutely. You can get the same result with black paint, but using black ink is honestly a different experience - it feels more like drawing than painting. It's almost perfectly opaque so you never need to do a second coat, and it just *flows* off the brush without clogging it up. It's oddly just more fun to use too.
Just used this video and painted a gray stone base with a little blood splatter for a future blood bowl team. Thanks for the video
Very, very cool. Congrats!
Darn it, why couldn’t I have seen this BEFORE I did 200 Arcadia Quest bases. I had the same idea, but yours are so much nicer. They’re wonderful.
True art. Working on a flat surface, creatig that look: really great. It opend my mind for new ways of thinking on how to treat ny bases. Just "wow"
It was amazing to see this Base be transformed to the comic style brick pattern! Nice work!!!

Really enjoyed this video! Cannot wait to try this out for myself. Many thanks!!
Good stuff, I have been looking for a video like this! Thank you!
Impressive...
I just read this in Darth Vader's voice... so thanks for that ;)
That is amazing! Reminds me of some old 2D video games. Can you please tell me which brush of what size are you using for the black lining?
It's a 000 Kolinsky Sable brush - specifically the "Foil" from Game Envy's Artist Arsenal brushes. You can order them at gameenvy.net/epicduck :D

I decided to do an old monopose marine I had in your style.
Doing a horde army would scare me too! It's definitely something more suited to Skirmish games :D
I just Upvoted all over that... I really need to use Reddit more.

Fantastic video and results :) What do you use for a brush on primer?
Follow up question, do you use the same primer for your models?
For brush-on primer I usually use Badger Stynylrez :)

In your opinion, Is it better to use that black over something like gw/vallejo?

@@Epicduck well I'm sold! I watched one of your comic style paint videos today, I'm looking forward to trying it! Thanks for the cool vids!
Awesome! Let me know if you have any questions :D
