    You legend! When you warned about how it was more complex than usual I was getting worried, but the video with the pictures as well as your explanation made it less complex and more just a lot of steps.

    I love this!! Thank you so much for sharing. I cant wait to try it. I love tumbled semi precious stones too and I am tired of turning them all into pendants. LOL. Although one can never have enough pendants and bracelets, rings are awesome. Especially ones you make yourself. So great. Thanks Denise.

    Thanks for the tutorial, was nice, and don't worry about the sound of the background because it sounds like the ocean, I didn't know it was your fan until you mentioned it.

    Great tutorial, I'm looking to make a sea glass ring and I think I can use this, I have 12 gauge wire could I use this for the ring itself and use finer wire for the setting part?

    • @DeniseMathew
      @DeniseMathew  8 років тому +1

      +constanceandtroy01 Yes I think you could do that, I would use probably a 16-18 gauge wire for the setting based on the size of the sea glass piece you're using and what will hold it well. The only issue with using the twelve gauge is the stiffness of the wire which can make it hard to work with but other than that it should be fine. I also have another version of this type of torch less Ring that you might want to check out for added tips, here's the link if you're interested. Good luck with your project it sounds like it's going to be beautiful.

    Hi , can you advise how to file the sharp points without hurting the wire ?

    • @DeniseMathew
      @DeniseMathew  9 років тому

      +Dace Damon A nail file or a jewelry file should help to even out the sharp ends. Hope this helps and thanks for your question. ;) Denise

    Great vídeo! But won't the wire be too weak? Won't the rocks fell of if the wire gets cough on clothing?

    • @DeniseMathew
      @DeniseMathew  6 років тому +1

      If you use a heavy enough gauge like a 16-18, based on the size of your stone, if it’s really large then a 12 to 14 is better. The prongs need to be filed well and pushed close to the stone so they don’t pull on your clothes. Alternatively you can make a small curl in the prongs and push it flat against the stone. Hope this helps.😊

    This was so helpful, thank you!!! I have 2 questions. Is there a way to make something similar but to leave an opening under the stone so that it can still be touching the skin? I find that I need to feel the stone on my skin in order to receive the full benefits of the energy of the stone, and secondly, the stone I’m planning on using is a huge piece of moldavite. It’s not an inexpensive stone, so I am wondering how stable this wrap ends up being? Are the prongs strong enough that you don’t have concern that the stone will fall out? I would be absolutely heartbroken if I lost this particular piece!!! Thanks again for sharing!!

    • @DeniseMathew
      @DeniseMathew  5 років тому +2

      The wrap is stable and I have used it with larger stones, you’ll have to go with a larger gauge for the prongs to ensure stability. It’s difficult to adjust this design to touch the skin as all the wraps that are used at the base give it the stability. The only other option I could see for what you want is a soldered design or metalsmithing where you use a torch to solder joints. You could do a circle base and prongs coming up around the stone. Hope this helps. 😊

      it’s a ring mandrel, you can get it at beadaholique.com or or amazon.com or if you live in North America you can get it at Micheals craft store. Hope this helps 😊

    What type of wire is this

  • @imurking3820

    What do you think about a mans ring having two type of precious stones on each side. ??? For instant having green emerald stones on one side of the rings shoulder and red rubies on the other shoulder side of the ring..?? How would it look to you ??

    • @DeniseMathew
      @DeniseMathew  8 років тому

      +The Prince8 I'm not sure if two stones would work in this design, but you could try, I would be concerned about the stability of them staying in place because they would only have prongs on one side of each stone. If you did use two stones then you would probably need to pack them in quite tight to hold them in place. Red and green will go together, my only concern might be that it might have a Christmas type feel, but that could be just me. Either color on its own would work perfectly, even dark stones like a deep blue sapphire or an onyx would look really nice. Hope this helps. 😊

    Molto buona l'idea, però mi dà l'impressione che la struttura dell'anello sia troppo sottile per sostenere una pietra, ma magari è solo un'impressione, comunque adesso proverò a farlo con un filo più grosso, grazie tante per averlo pubblicato !!

    whenever i do this the prongs are not well fitted around the stone and the stone wiggles around a lot. Any tips for making it nice and tight?

    • @DeniseMathew
      @DeniseMathew  9 років тому

      Sometimes if you hammer the ends(tips) of the wire prongs before you push them up around the stone it can help hold it in place( they are flatter and might rest against the stone better) and also make sure that you don't cut the prongs too short because if you do it might cause it to be less stable and wiggly. Hope this helps 😊

      +Denise Mathew i wont give up~! i should try using a smaller gage too, i think i was using 18 or 20 for the prongs.
