This is like the best tutorial ive ever seen for anything on youtube. Its clear, its specific, and it explains things rather than leaving it in the air for guessing
Just amazed how is it even free, far more better than some paid courses thank you for making it available for all. You made it so simple to understand the concepts it's easy to follow along 💜✨ thank u so much once again
This is really really brilliant. I've been teaching animation for over 10 years (in schools/workshops/uni) and there's definitely a few approaches to teaching here I've never thought about before! Thanks alex!
Wow ??? And that video now is free to watch ? People paying lot of money to learn that stuffs . !! Thank you so much sir ❤ I got today my first iPad . And I will make my dream true with procreate dreams .. I’m 30 years old . I have 2 children’s , when I was young my dream was 3d Modeling and Animation … my mother didn’t understand what that was and she didn’t let me study … now I’m back ! And I’m going to learn it !! And you sir !!! You make a good job !! I’m glad to share all that things here. !! Thank you !!
I don't think I've ever seen or heard these principles explained this clearly. I usually absolutely HATE doing really basic "beginner exercises" like animating a ball, but halfway through this video I was ITCHING to animate a ball. XD
Probably the best animation course ever...I started teaching animation years ago and had to take a long break now I'm coming back into it and this is incredible
wow , this is the perfect place to start , instead of going into details stuffs, you go right in and talk about big concepts in general . really helpful. This is what I am looking for.
WOW! This is so helpful!! I'm trying to add animation to my video journalism & come from a background with zero animation experience. I feel like I learned so so so much from this video. I can't believe that information like this exists on the internet FOR FREE Thank you so so much!
I cant thank you enough for this amazing animation crash course, I always wanted to see these core principles of animation put together, the 12 ones are kinda overwhelming to me sometimes, you put it so well, thank you so much, your channel is like a goldmine for beginner animators like me, so entertaining and easy to understand! You are such a great teacher! THANK YOU!!!
Oh my gooooooood!!! I can't believe how well this is presented and how long it must have taken you to do these, And what blows my mind is this is all free.. Thank you soo much alex you have helped plebs like us big time with this, These tuts will be game changer
This is an incredibly captivating tutorial - I usually have a really short attention span but the visuals and simple analogies really did the trick. Well done!!
Thank you! As an animator, I always struggled understanding speed. Many teachers try to explain but it wouldn't compute....but tis finally made me understand! Can't wait to see more!
Without a doubt the best crash-course anything I've ever watched. The presentation is utterly sublime and conveys basic technical knowledge in a way with great brevity and visual clarity.
Wooooaahh, every word you say in this video feels like im learning how to animate for the first time again. Its just that you really explained how the basics of animation works well, like how i studied too much before and u just made it into one video. Ty man i rlly forgot how to animate so i had to study again, totally give u a sub, u deserved it
Fantastic intro into animation! Wish I had seen this before I made my animated series a few years ago. Took me many months to figure out these principles. Keep it up, Alex!
This is going to improve the quality of animation EVERYWHERE and make it so accessible. Mad props Alex, I hope you know how much of a game changer this is 🙌👏👏👏
I've watched a lot of Animation videos and your video is the most interesting. Most Animation videos seem intimidating. Those are 6 of the 12 principles of Animation
Great video!!! Im a decent artist, but I've always wanted to dip My toe in animation, videos like this breaking down animation and explaining it in a way to where everyone can understand it is awesome!!!
I've seen things on how you should start with doing the 'ball exercise' for animation, but I've never seen it explained in a way that makes this much sense. I knew my animation of motion didn't feel right, but now I feel like I've got a tool kit to try fix it. Thank you so much! :D
Thank you Alex. This is indeed one of the best courses I have even opted for. I always wanted to learn animation but I used to feel so intimidated. You have made it so clear and amazingly simple for us to understand.
I loooove how simple you've made these explanations. I've been doing really really basic animations for a bit now and even this short video helps solidify some of those ideas very well. Awesome stuff here. :)
Really great introduction to 6 of the animation principles! This channel will be my go-to from now on, when people ask about the best way to learn the basics of animation 😍👏
This is the youtube equivalent of the Animator's Survival Kit and it's completely free! Thank you for making animation accessible to everyone, this series is brilliant!
In my Physics class, we learn something called harmonic oscillation (I use translation) this year, and it nearly reflects what you teach me now, what a coincidence!
Epiiccc video I am grade 12 student and preparing for medical exam but this video's diverted my mind. The best animation video I have ever seen Love from India
Thank you for these Alex! I felt like I wanted to pick up animating this time around but its been a real mess trying to get started - your series has been a HUGE help and I'm watching them over and over again to get the principles ingrained - so again, thank you for taking the time to produce these videos, they've been amazing to learn from!
Watching your video for the first time and it's really worth it. I was learning animation by myself a few years back but stopped in between cause I felt I would never be good at it. After watching your video I'm planning to start from scratch again. Thanks for igniting the flame which was long gone.
Just enough information not too much …simple .. not overpowering ..intriguing and the best part is the homework to engage the audience and practice ..can’t wait for future episodes 🙌🙌🔥🔥.. all the very best
Hey this is great! Im teaching animation and was looking for a simple tutorial that could be replicated by my student . He started off with his idea of a really complex animation but wanted him to go back to basics first, to feed back into his work, gve it some life!
What an amazingly well put together video.. i have seen the same concepts in this video explained many times.. this is the FIRST time i actually realised its USES... because it was put in such a clever way...
Hi There, I really appreciate for everything that you’ve done for this channel. You’ve successfully make the knowledge easily accessible for anyone. Your way of explaining things are on the next level of teaching, it’s genius!! I’m an Interior Designer that currently want to learn Animation. For a real beginner like me your channel is a real Treasure. Thank You So So Much!!!!
Wow. Now this is great teaching! Loved the visual examples to demonstrate the concepts...the paper airplane and the arcs, and the spacing issue. When you put all four of the coins on one sheet to demonstate the different outcomes available within the same timeframe...brilliant! I can't imagine the work you have put into this! Much appreciated. And thank you!
In the early 21st Century, computer hardware was finally getting good enough to do decent animation in video games. They TRIED to make the animation look like it was live-action -- i.e., look like they were filming the characters who appeared on the screen. The problem was that it didn't look "right." They had to go back and learn the tricks the animators learned in the 20s and 30s. It was only by applying these techniques that the animation looked like it should. This video points out some of these techniques. Well done!
Best video ever! I was getting discouraged when doing animation because I watch an animation tutorial but it didn’t help, but this help me sooo much 🤩🤩
Thank you so much for this video! Your way of explaining is both clear and informative and I feel incredibly motivated to work on my skills. I've watched a bunch of animation videos but I love that you explain the CONCEPTS and not the software you're working with. I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this video!
I just got to know each of these classes takes 6 weeks to make🎉🎉 just wanted to say thanks really inspiring I took ur procreate dreams course ….will also purchase animation basecamp whenever available…..been making an animation for 6 months now maybe will take a year but will tag you whenever I publish …bcz ur and seoroh oh courses made that possible …. U guys are helping people in the grassroots tremendously so I wanted this to be heard…plz keep up🎉
This is a perfect primer for anyone learning animation! :D Such a brilliant presentation
Thanks Mr Marriott!
Hi Ben Marriot

Legend
Thanks
❤
Love how you framed it with how the animation is "feeling." Reminding beginners it's an intuitive process is really important!
I'm glad you liked that. Im trying to make these classes about creating the animation you want to see rather than " correct " animation.
Really love how the principles arent framed as rules to sweat over but more as a toolkit to help see whats working and what isnt
my journey begins
Me to ❤
Same here👏
same here‼️

Brilliant introduction, kudos for your respect for principles, very informative. Thank you so much!
this was so well structured and awesome that I feel bad for watching it for free.
Loved it. Short, sharp and punchy. I look forward to the next lessons!

Oh I'm really glad you enjoyed it. I had trouble learning via the 12 principles too so I thought I'd try and tackle things a different way.
I haven't made a flip book animation since I was bored during a maths lesson in 1991 🤔...
I love the way you explain things too ☺
Oh my gooooooood!!! I can't believe how well this is presented and how long it must have taken you to do these, And what blows my mind is this is all free..

Hell yes, this is awesome. The whole vid doesn't feel rushed or bloated, feels just as long as it needs to be to get those ideas down.
Thank you! As an animator, I always struggled understanding speed. Many teachers try to explain but it wouldn't compute....but tis finally made me understand! Can't wait to see more!

I am speechless. In just 14 minutes it got me into base foundation already for animation. My imagination is running wild. Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic intro into animation! Wish I had seen this before I made my animated series a few years ago. Took me many months to figure out these principles. Keep it up, Alex!

I'm a visual learner. This is fantastic for beginners. I'm sorta still one, but this is fantastic and did more than what my professors did in college.
Bro mastered the animation to showcase basics to audience
This is by far the BEST animation course ive found, def recommend!
Basically anticipation is building up momentum and ovvershoot is inertia :D
Really great introduction to 6 of the animation principles! This channel will be my go-to from now on, when people ask about the best way to learn the basics of animation 😍👏
Incredibly well put together where each idea builds upon the last. Opening on the question on how the animation feels is perfect!
I'm glad that came through :)
I used to animate little dots on my post-it notes. Perfect tiny little flip books lol. Thanks for all of this, very useful to remind how things work!
I asked myself how does this video make me feel? - Amazing! .
This gives a clear understanding about animation.🙂
I think that I can finally start my new journey in animation with a great teacher! Thank you!
First video on animation that felt full of information but not overwhelming. Thanks!
A true master class in what animation means. Thank you
God, thank you so much for this. I have to learn 2D animation from scratch in 2 months and this was so clear and comprehensive.
