There's an online interview with the pilots involved in Top Gun. The guy who did the actual flying for the movie was indeed call sign Bozo.
I agree Bozo figured Tom was going to throw up so he pulls the hard climb which made it impossible for Tom to do so that probably helped Tom get over getting sick as easily think of the timing of it Tom reaches for the bag Bozo does a hard climb.

I agree. It’s none of our business. Most of the complaints about Scientology is probably hearsay . One of the main complaint is that the employees are not compensated fairly. Church volunteers are not paid but they are reimbursed for travel costs.Same with hospital volunteers.

Funny thing is the actor for Goose did an interview on Letterman and explained how Bozo got that callsign.
He was backseating a new pilot and during a take off from their carrier one of their engines cuts out, so he calls out to throttle off the wrong engine and before he corrects himself in time the plane landed on the water.

A lot of people think he just became successful because of his looks but do they know that he had ADHD and a learning disability that he conquered only after taking a Scientology course on how to learn. Reminds me of a story in a book called Team Tornado I read years ago. One of the authors was a pilot who was describing the pranks they used to pull on each other in his squadron.
In this particular one there was a new navigator on the squadron who always got sick during the first 30 minutes of flying (until he got used to it). The author told how he helpfullly cut out the bottom of the sick bag and slipped it back into the guys flight suit. I'll leave the rest to your imagination. Every squadron has a bozo.

I think the moment passed for Top Gun 2... the original was a masterpiece of coming-of-age homoerotic skin-n-jeans clean-living-military-life southern Cali 1980s... they wouldn't have the vision to put their thumb on that pulse again in a new way to be relevant today... they would only try to copy what they think worked back then and it would be another sucky sequel, like 99% of all sequels because Tom is no longer a young man... Top Gun was a young man's story. That moment is gone gone gone...

They tried so hard to get live in plane scenes for the first movie but it just didn't work. Too much noise, the actors were barfing so they had to do it on sound stage.
