Let's not pretend this hasn't been HEAVILY edited to be favorable to Tom Cruise. It's not in the interest of Red Bull or Cruise to show him stalling the car six times, spinning out on his first corner, or being terrified because the brakes and tires haven't built up enough heat to make the car controllable. This was a pure PR exercise, not an accurate depiction of what it's like to drive an F1 car for the first time, as Hammond's video was. I'm not saying Tom Cruise isn't a skilled and experienced driver or that he didn't learn quickly. But literally anyone who knows anything will tell you that piloting an F1 car is unlike driving anything else no matter your overall experience in other vehicles. There's no shame in stalling the car or not being able to control it around a fast corner, but that's not what the point of this video was. It was to make Tom Cruise look badass and help the Red Bull brand.
I’ve worked on many film sets with actors over the years, & Tom is the one who stood out leagues ahead of the rest. A gracious man, consummate professional, who can drive, ride & fly like a legend. On you Tom, love your worth!
+Dean Murphy That's true, but then the tolerances on your car's engine doesn't require heated water to be pumped through the engine before you can even turn it over and start it, because they are pretty much locked up when cold!
Tom cruise is a smart guy, calm, hard worker...I really dont understand all the haters. F1 is very hard to drive , he listen carefully all the instructions from david coulthard.
He’s super smart, super talented and one of the best actors ever without question but outside that he’s a liberal whack job and a Scientologist looooooooooon. Look into it. Didn’t you see him jumping on Ohper’s couch out of his mind?
A lot of them hate him for his acting and the fact he joined a cult and refuses to leave, like a crazy person. Personally, other than his madness, I don't mind Tom at all. I like a lot of his films and he clearly has a lot of talent for extreme sports.
They seem to gloss over that A: the cult he's in have terrorized its own current and former members, and B: he pretty much psychologically abused his exes.

Nate Chatigny really hard to tell. Kinda have to rely on the mics there at the track. if they are good mics the sound quality there. I'm not sure, the V'8s were loud as hell too, just a higher tone then the 12's
I'd probably go with rolling the 🚁 helicopter. But not stalling the F1 in the dirt and getting the car back to the pit was a close second in my opinion. I met TC years ago where he showed up to an industry party after riding a Ducati from Santa Barbara to Beverly Hills... I found out that he rode several super bikes daily on the streets and tracks for months with a $55 million dollar insurance policy. 18 months later you see him in a awesome motorcycle chase scene in the Mission Impossible franchise. He's a machine.

From driving an F1 car without stalling to performing loop-de-loops in a helicopter, he's a true adrenaline junkie. Tom Cruise is undeniably a legend, and his fearlessness on and off the screen is inspiring. He truly embodies the spirit of racing and adventure.
I ain't gay in the slightest, but seriously, compare Tom Cruise to that Guy who plays Thor just to mention a number of far better looking men just in movies.
I don't think Tom Cruise is that attractive. Certainly he's good looking, but by no means the best. I think whoever voted for that were swayed by his fame and fortune.
I remember when this video was brand new, & I never get tired of watching it either. This and/or DC doing dirt racing at COTA just makes my day! Thanks again Red Bull! :)
I'll admit I'm jealous of those friends that are good at everything (ie guitar, video games, studying - or lack thereof). When you watch them pick up stuff so quickly with so little effort while you're just grinding away. I just wonder what it's like from their perspective, I notice sometimes they don't get that things don't come as easily to other people. People are fascinating and it's amazing what we're capable of, some just more than others.
Confidence can take you places. The way he leans on the F1 while all the pit crew were briefing him on how dangerous it is and what he needa to be aware of. He took ownership of that car. Thats what he was there to do and he did it. He was polite but Im betting he didnt listen to everything they said because they were likely nervous about letting an actor drive their expensive car, as rightly thry should be. He doesnt need their nerves affecting him. Confidence.

Matthew Boylan yes, it’s actually much harder than people think. Do a little mistake, then you can take out half of the grid including yourself.
This and people liking this comment know nothing of NASCAR lol.
There def is some skill to it. But it is nowhere near the complexity of F1
Everyone: It's impossible to beat Mercedes this year.
Tom Cruise: Hold my mission.
is just the sound of old f1 engine is beautiful

Man he made Richard Hammond look like he’s never driven a car 🤦🏻♂️
Hammond being a racer was having so much issues driving an F1 but this guy totally nailed it
his car was much more powerful and he had to do it in a very short track
Hammond and co only floor cars on the air field strait, every 10 years old can do it !
EVOCATEUR good eye
after 10 years, he finally gets his sit. Well done, Checo

+Dean Murphy That's true, but then the tolerances on your car's engine doesn't require heated water to be pumped through the engine before you can even turn it over and start it, because they are pretty much locked up when cold!
Matt Wyatt Yeah. Ive heard that the tolerance is at maximum a 12th of a hair. They got blankets and everything for the engine.
+Dean Murphy ...like a burnout without ever touching the gas. XD
EvilBonesMan_666 I never looked at it that way :P

Plot twist: That's Sergio Perez, Tom Cruise is the one who has been racing all this time
I've always thought they looked quite similar.
At first, I thought perez already in red bull......

Tom cruise is a smart guy, calm, hard worker...I really dont understand all the haters. F1 is very hard to drive , he listen carefully all the instructions from david coulthard.
They're merely projecting their hatred of themselves onto others. Sad....
He’s super smart, super talented and one of the best actors ever without question but outside that he’s a liberal whack job and a Scientologist looooooooooon. Look into it. Didn’t you see him jumping on Ohper’s couch out of his mind?
@@surfinDelMar couldn't agree more with you, but no one seems to care?!
Tom:got bored driving an f1*
Also Tom: hey can i do a loop in the heli?
He's maverick and sometimes just wants to do things a little slower
Didnt stall the car 17 times like Richard Hammond ffs.
@@jumalsander3642 Maybe, maybe not, but Tom seems a more capable guy than the Hamster. Remember when he was on Top Gear? He placed first while up on two wheels around Gambon corner. He has a lot of talent and skill.
J Rob he flys helicopter (SUPER hard ), airplanes, jets (SUPER SUPER HARD and VERY dangerous ), drives bikes stupid fast, drives cars well, does a ton of very dangerous stunts like holding his breath for 6 minutes, guys a beast
If I remember rightly Hammond took a cold car out on a cold track, hus biggest issue was getting heat in the thing. I’m betting this was not the case here, and Tom Cruise has driven race cars before.
@@myaccount__7269 being a skilled adrenaline junkie does not translate to being good at driving a f1 which is all skill.
@@myaccount__7269 Flying isn't that hard. Really. In some ways it's easier than driving. The hard part is getting the money to do it. It's very fun though!

Jj Duncan well I'd be having a good time if I was driving an F1 too xD
Can u tell me song name used in the end ?

haha man, I don't think any commercial drone could keep up with that F1 car today.

Tom Cruise is a perfect example of a man living his dreams. Imagne. He can drive, he can pilot, he cab parachute. He can all the things.
He drove the car way more better than Richard Hammond...........
@Mahesh Gupte, Absolutely, infact I was going to mention the same thing. If this is for real , then hats off to Tom Cruise, because driving an F1 car is not everyone's cup of tea.
Crush40thebest not a lot less, 820 bhp for v8 2.4 NA. Also Hammond's driven car has traction control while this V8 hasn't.
Crush40thebest
This one doesn't have traction control though, it was banned in 2008.
Richard drove the 05 or 06 Renault, which had TC.
Crush40thebest Are you sure this is a V8? That sounded like a V10 to me. If I had to guess this is probably Red Bull's RB1, but the thing is, the nose is different, so I'm not sure. That's definitely a V10 exhaust note though.
Nate Chatigny really hard to tell. Kinda have to rely on the mics there at the track. if they are good mics the sound quality there. I'm not sure, the V'8s were loud as hell too, just a higher tone then the 12's
Damn Tom Cruise.. he looks like an actual F1 racing driver.

Most impressive thing he did was not stall out when he went off roading!
Richard Hammond has left the chat
@@TheKeisari haha he even need one minute just to roll 40ft 😂
F1 cars have Anti-Stall.
For those who don’t know, Tom Cruise used to race for Nismo in GT-3
What...
When you are THAT rich you can buy a seat and gain experience
That was way back in 88. Not the factory Nissan though, it was a Nissan team owned by Paul Newman. Others thought he was just a Hollywood actor who rides fast with no racing experience with heavy editing to make him look awesome in an F1 car eventhough it was already shown in the video that at just his first experience, he did speeds at just 4 mph slower than that of an F1 legend- DC.

because they did not make it and are very jealous on people who are great at anything!
well if you act as if you can do anything but can't, like you, you fit pretty much the definition of arrogance
Confidence.
