They seem so different on the surface, but in reality they share many more similarities. Hello I’m Isaac from Wotso Videos where we discuss fun topics for fun people and today we are going to examine how Gaston and the Beast began their lives as similar people and why they ended up with such different endings.

(giggle) Nice one.
Ha! This is hilarious. Thanks for watching and sharing your humor!
Wow! A good joke in a comment section. Congrats really gave me a good laugh.
Liam Fosdike 😂😂😂😂
Liam Fosdike 😂😂That was clever😂😂
I thought that this video was a theory about them litteraly being the same person
me too
Kaitlyn Winslow lol
Lmao same, I was like, ok now the theories have gone too far.
Me too, but I didn't think much of it. Mainly because this guy is the 👑 of destroying childhoods😶
🤗 wrong channels
that awkward moment when you read the title as "beast and Gaston Are the same person" and you start to question life and then leave a comment but after hitting play you immediately delete it.....
Oh okay. I hope you enjoyed the video.
Ann Halley lol
+Wotso Videos I did lol
Well that's good! Haha thanks for watching!
Ann Halley OMG I READ THAT TOO!
I don't know if you've read it or not, but in the book "The Beast Within", Gaston and the Prince before he became the beast were actually friends. Gaston's father was a Groundskeeper or something for the prince. They even used to go out hunting together.
Hmm. I should look that up.
I recommend it.It's a nice change seeing things from the Beast's perspective.
Mitsurugi Chiba OMG WHO WROTE IT?!
Serena Valentino
Mitsurugi Chiba I just said that to the book is great isn't ot
I think if more people had treated Gaston the way Belle does, he would have been forced to change as well. Instead his behaviour was rewarded and he was fawned over despite being egotistical and cruel
Very well said! But I wouldn't say Gaston fought to protect his honor... More like protect his pride.
Diction is everything. I like that word better actually. Thanks for watching!
Wotso Videos Lol you're welcome :)
Mmm what about more like protecting his ego?
ღRiceBunnyAriღ ego is simply an overinflated pride
0:33 villains are the heros of their own stories
Are You RUMPELSTILTSKIN?
Why would you kill someone just so you can be together for instance
If the Beast and Gaston switched places... Adam was born into a village and Gaston was born the prince... There's a significant difference between Adam and Gaston that I believe has everything to do with nature: Introversion and Extroversion. Children born into a family that is mismatched to their personality tend to adapt but still show signs of shyness or gregariousness. I believe if Adam was born into the town the villagers would be singing songs about how strange he is or he would go on unnoticed or maybe considered mysterious because he is both quiet and handsome, and if Gaston was born the prince he would have still sent the enchantress away got the curse he would have dealt with it in a different way, how, I'm not sure. It's been so long since I watched it. Gaston doesn't have the internal world that introverts tend to possess which would make him much more unhappy living a empty castle with just a clock, candlestick, and feather duster to keep him company. Its just hard to determine because you really don't see what they were like as children.
Madelyn Today
gaston is a fuckboy jock, a bully who tortured animals as a kid.
Adam, well probs had emotional issues, and then hormones and rebellion hit him hard.
Madelyn Today damn
Gaston would've fucked the enchantress
I picture Gaston, as one of those boys who was abused and neglected as a child who turned into a bully to deal with his pain. As he grew older he became more powerful and cocky. But then Bell comes along and does something truly nice. He falls in love with her. She denies him. But due to his abandonment issues he clings to the idea of her. - makes me feel better about him.
Starrah Ann that could be
Starrah Ann ok , I’ll buy it.
Makes you feel better about him? There's NO excuse. He tried to have her father committed! I mean yes, I feel a little bad for him if that was true but he was a terrible person.
Beast was nothing more than an insecure incel. Gaston on the other hand was strong and successful and loved by everyone. Everyone in the village would sing his praises, they respected Gaston so much that they were willing to follow Gaston as soon as they were called to fight the Beast. All the women wanted Gaston for good reason, he's the ideal man. Compared to the beast who was just angry and pathetic and isolated, even his servants cowered in fear of him. Belle on the other hand had no mother and strong father to guide her(father was old and not a great leader) and she turned to reading stories, she ends up completely unsatisfied with her life and wants "more" unable to see the beauty in tradition the natural order of things, which surrounded her on a daily basis. "Beauty" and the "Beast" are both inside Belle. Beauty being represented by traditional values and Beast being represented by Belles feminine disposition towards chaos. She wasn't willing to marry Gaston the ideal man because she wanted "more", and then she agrees to marry a literal hairy monster to save her father, the exact thing she was trying to escape, and then she runs away because she doesn't have any sense of duty or honor and her life is chaos and has no meaning. Gaston realizes that the real enemy is Belles emerging feminine chaos that is destroying everything around her and the only way to save Belle is by destroying the "Beast" once and for all.
YEP!
They're basically the polar opposite of eachother, Beast starts off as a brutish monster but becomes more human mentally and physically later on while Gaston starts off as human in nature but becomes more animalistic later on. It's pretty much like a reverse Jekyll/Hyde scenario.
So happy you said ''the beast'' and showed Gaston and said ''the man'' and showed Adam. That was great!
Though very similar, I do believe there would be some significant differences if their roles were reversed. To me, pre-Beast was a much more bitter person than Gaston, who was the classic egotistical, macho man. Pre-Beast was quicker to act with violence and didn't seem too concerned with how people viewed him. After all, he was their ruler. Anything he commanded was to be followed, regardless of how his subordinates felt (though I do think a little part of this could've been in his nature).
Gaston, however, seemed to be much more conscious about his image in society. I'm not saying that his arrogant attitude was merely a facade, but I feel society influenced Gaston's mannerisms noticeably more than the Beast's. An interesting thing to point out is this: for a man who appeared to be thick-headed and dense, Gaston liked to plan before acting unlike the Beast, who often lashed out first.
If the Beast was in Gaston's shoes I believe he would be and slightly less narcissistic, yet harsher person than Gaston. Gaston would probably have a harder time winning Belle over because of his love for himself, though it's possible the curse would delude this self-love. But, here's another question: Would Belle fall in love with Gaston if he took the Beast's place?
Oh, and my childhood toy is apprentice/wizard Mickey from Disney World :)
Loved this comment all around. Great analysis of the characters distinguishing the key differences. I completely agree with you. Mickey Mouse is my favorite Disney character so great toy choice!! Thanks for watching and stay awesome!!
The Beast and Gaston did have some similarities about themselves. The Beast did change his ways and learned his lesson even by falling in love with Belle but Gaston has learned nothing about his narcistic, cruel nature. Finding out the Belle chose the Beast had lead Gaston into jealousy and hatred.
He threw himself into despair. Thanks for watching!
Actual I think Gaston was a sociopath. He had all the signs of it. He wanted to control everyone around him.
i think gaston and adam (beast) were related (cousins, brothers) but when gaston was in the castle he did some bad things and he was banished from the castle. and if he was a part of royalty, he was spoiled like adam, but adam learned his lesson and gaston never did
Your on to something , I heard that bells mother is the one who cast the spell on the beast,
Will Parks maybe an ancestor
The witch wasn't an actual human but Belle was so I don't think so
I think many that Gaston was the beasts brother and Gaston was really horrible so the witch came for Gaston but because they where brothers she got then mixed up so she cursed the beast. that's when Garston ran away into the village. because his brother was the favourite brother and now he's a beast Gaston LOVED TO hunt and his goul was to kill the beast.
but he got over it and stored hunting the beast but when the beast took bell well u know what happens in the film.
I love how you were able to connect sociology with this. It makes the movie even more interesting!
Thanks! I was in a sociology class when I made the video and wanted to discuss Beauty and the Beast and it all seemed to come together. Thanks for watching!
I'm curious. If Belle had chosen Gaston and done the same thing she did for the Beast (As in offer her support and criticism) Would Gaston have been different? Would he have change?
See exactly. That's what I'm wondering. I don't think he would've because whenever he would get frustrated with Belle, he could find a dozen other people who support his thoughts towards her. She wouldn't be able to change him like she could change the Beast. Thanks for watching!
No because Gaston is too full of himself and conceded
No, because Gaston was good looking and admired. He would need to lose these in order to grow.
Elyse Solomonson are you looking for the word “ conceited “ ? I think it’s what you were trying to say. But I know what you meant
They are each other's antithesis. Like you said, Gaston is a narcissist meaning that he thinks too much of himself; the beast is self-loathing . These personality types are bad and lead to toxic behaviors. There are plenty other comparisons: Gaston is a extrovert while the beast is a loner, Gaston's peeps think he's perfect while all of the people in beast's life think there's much room for improvement. Gaston has a lot of people in his life that love and adore him whereas everyone in the beasts life are either servants that he had to pay to be around him or could even be interpreted as possessions that he projected personalities onto (of course, this is only a symbolic interpretation, because they are real even to Belle, but it could be used as a metaphor for how alone and desperate for companionship the beast really is). Gaston is a simple kind of guy, in a modern day world he'd probably be a former high school jock that grew up to run a bar simply because he knows its people-driven business that caters to several basic needs and desires. The beast is the man that prefers to be alone with his books and has settled for his lifetime of loneliness. Gaston wants Belle simply because she's one person in town that doesn't adore him; the beast sees Belle's inner beauty.
Beast's starts out as an abusive, darker character that heals and becomes good whereas Gaston starts out as not so bad but becomes bad. Is there an argument for nature versus nurture in there? Nurture, the unshakable love and admiration of the town, has led Gaston to believe that he's a perfect specimen of manhood and entitled to whatever he wants. It's doubtful that he was born with this sense of entitlement. The Beast has been severely punished for a one mistake he made as a child. He feels ugly and trapped in his body, that no one could ever love him, and knows that the magic cure is find another person that can love him romantically (great message to little kids btw) which is the one thing he feels like his predicament will not allow him. Its impossible to tell how nature has played out for the two characters because we really can't see them as little kids. I cannot see them being the same if they were to switch places in any cause, although I believe that there are traits we are born with that never change. For example, I was born an emotional person and I will more than likely die one. I can train myself to keep a stoic demeanor, but I am who I am on the inside.
The biggest proof that nature is stronger than nurture is that there are people who go through the same things in life and still turn out to be different, some people would never hurt others because they know how much it hurt them while someone else would want to hurt everyone so they could all suffer with that person. There are a lot of other varieties like a person becoming cold and distant or developing an anxiety disorder (like me). There are many more proofs for this but I don't wanna go into that now, it would get too long
KyuubiCore well said
I ALWAYS loved the beast. He has come to mean a great deal to me. What I never got is how ANYONE could think him ugly.
Okay so he's not the norm but he's like a BIG dog (or bear) they have their kind loving moments and their tempers just like any human. To me he'll always be a man in a fur coat.
Bears are scary!
I need to watch beauty and the beast even though I'm 28 now it will always be my favourite Disney film
KayleighandGavin Brand yesss! I'm 28 too and I can't wait to watch the remake! They better not mess it up.. Even still, I'm getting pumped up watching the original. It is a good movie with good lessons
skunkie110 I can't wait for it and it comes out 2 days before my birthday so if they mess it up not only will they have ruined what can be a amazing film but my birthday as well. Lol 🎉
anyone here ever read the original book. or seen the 1946 french film
I have a new one for you: is belle the enchantress' daughter?
AnimalCraftGaming Ya and maybe belle's father doesn't want belle to go the castle and get cursed by her...
AnimalCraf
AnimalCraftGaming EY, Super Carlin Brothers?
AnimalCraftGaming Someone wrote a book about that
OR.. Belle is really... Beast's sister!! Belle's mother was Beast's mother who had an affair with her royal clock maker, which is also, by the way, Cogsworth's entire backstory. ...Mind blown!?
The Beast was only eleven when an evil witch cast a spell on him for not letting a stranger into the castle, no proof he was ever a jerk before driven into solitude by the spell
Ehm..If I may.. you did watch the movie (and sequels) right? The prince was most definitely a jerk before the transformation. It may be different in the books, but in the Disney movies, the prince was spoiled and treated others poorly
They say in the narration he was spoiled, selfish and unkind.
Think of it this way, the beast was basically prince joffrey lannister before he got turned into a beast. He was evil and had it coming.
Who's to say that the beast wasn't a spawn of Satan too. We don't know how bad he was before the curse. He could have very well been worse than Joffrey.
True, true, though I still believe he was legit evil, because that is the only thing that would make the fairy's actions justified and thus make the narration at the beginning even mildly true.
I think that within the story of children's literature that clearly states that beauty is found with in. In the word Gaston, his real name is ghost on. When the final confrontation, Gaston saw his alter ego gave him a fright of his life. When he sang kill the Beast, the beast within him got killed and Belle rescued the kind loving soul inside the Beast. So that means the beast is killed and rescued by Belle's beauty. It's the same King Kong story.
I don't think he was rescued by her beauty, he was rescued by the belief that he was loved. Thanks for watching.
This is so educational because of the nurture and nature mention.
I thought it would be a good combination. Thanks for watching!
you are welcome.
I think they are cousins
It's ironic you mention this. We're discussing nature vs nurture in my science class right now while watching the movie.
Gaston is and will always be my favorite character.
Are you excited to see him as a live action character? Or are you worried they may mess him up in some way? Thanks for watching!
Wotso Videos A little of both. I liked Luke Evans in Dracula, Fast and Furious 6 and The Hobbit series but Gaston is a tricky character to convert into live action. Obviously there are going to be changes. He is going be arrogant and a jerk but i don't think his version of Gaston will be as...loud
Yeah I know what you mean. Plus I'm sure he doesn't just want to reenact what the original Gaston was like because it may not seem as realistic in a live action setting. I guess we will just have to see!
That's who is playing Gaston?!! He looks waaaaay wrong for the part!!!
Lavern Merriweather I thought so too but he looks alright for the role in the trailer.
no if Gaston and Beast traded places it would not be the same. Being full of himself already Gaston would remain a beast.
I am leaning towards that as well. Thanks for watching!
Elyse Solomonson if both switched places, Adam would be a prick(but a different kind unlike gaston) and gaston will be suffering, suicidal type, kinda
Elyse Solomonson they should have done beauty and the figurative beast
The Beast was also full of himself. Both he and Gaston valued appearance alone.
In the Cocteau version, Avenant (the original Gaston) actually turns into a Beast while the Beast turns back into the Prince. Both Avenant and the Prince, and the Beasts by extension, are played by the same actor, to underline that they practically are the same person.
What's interesting, however, is that the backstory in that film has nothing to do with the original story's vengeful fairy, or ever implies any bad behaviour on the Prince's part - he is transformed and made to suffer, instead, because his parents do not believe in spirits. The Prince overcomes his bad situation by being unfailingly good and kind, while Avenant is transformed due to his ill will and greed.
Great video! I always find it tricky to compare these two, even though they started out undeniably similar in so many ways. I feel like we can never know for sure about Gaston's capacity to change , because he was never put in the extreme situation the prince was put in. If Gaston had to change his ways to transform back from a hideous beast, i think he'd be a lot more motivated, personally.
Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching!
Also: The Beast is about 21 at the time the movie takes place, right?
And in the song 'Be our Guest' it said they'd been waiting 10 YEARS!
Conclusion: Beast was 11 YEARS old!!!
Kinda cruel of that witch...
I guess time-outs weren't a big thing back then, or they just weren't effective.
Danielle Musella
XD
Lola Shay Glad I made you laugh today.
Right?! I remember watching this, and thinking, "I'm not surprised he didn't let a STRANGER into his house in the middle of the night."
I get that he was supposed to come off as stuck up and arrogant, but there were some faults to the story
Haha yeah it seems silly to just accept any stranger into your castle. Oh well!
they also have the same blue eyes!
I didn't even notice that! Thanks for watching.
Yeah , I noticed it.
While the Beast has baby blue eyes, showing his innocent nature, Gaston has icy blue eyes, showing his wolfish nature.
let's give this man 3 million subscribers yall!
Wow that would be awesome! Man that would be the day! Thanks for the support and stay awesome!
+Wotso Videos I believe in you man, keep up the good work
Wotso Videos great lovin it keep it up do more lion king :) I love that movie
Next week I'm doing a video called the Lineage of the Lion King! Check back to see it! I hope you enjoy it. Thanks so much for watching and supporting me!
If Gaston and the Beast aka "Prince Adam" swap personalities at birth, then Gaston would be reduced to being yet another generic "kind-hearted" Prince Charming-caricature and the Beast would end up being yet another generic evil "monster" character for the sake of being an asshole and have absolutely no three-dimensional personalities what-so-ever.
The beast looked better as a beast
no he's way hotter as a man, but I do like the look they gave him as a beast.
+Elyse Solomonson
I'm still wondering what he is.
Or....if he had grown a beard, I think Belle would still have her "beast" either way. I mean, what can you say?! Women dig hairy men!!!
Admit it...you just have a thing for hairy men, don't you?!
Lol! Even when I was a kid I was sad every time I watched him turn back to normal. He's definitely handsome, but yeah, I prefer him as a beast. He's so cute!
still love the back round music!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it. A lot of my videos use the music from NoCopyrightSounds. They're a great channel for UA-cam music. Thanks for watching!
+Wotso Videos You should check out a musical called "Twisted". It centers on Jafar actually being a good guy, it's like " Wicked" in that he was treated and portrayed badly. It centers on Jafar, but ends up giving a little back story to many Disney villains including Gaston. You might like it. I do! :)
I like this . I’m glad I subscribed, a lot of these are truly interesting. Exploring all the “ back stories “ of Disney Villains and Villainess ‘s is an interesting idea , getting the whole concept on their point of view.
In the 2017 live-action adaptation, it doesn’t help that Gaston is seen as a war hero, further inflating his ego and pride. In addition, the Prince’s father also played a role in his son’s transformation from boy to beast to man
Wow from 2000 subs to 66,000 in just 4 months. Great video, very detailed analysis spot these great characters
Thanks for 2k followers! *2016 rolls by* now u got 10x more. Congrats ☺️
Thank you! It's an exciting time! :D Thanks for watching!
I have only just found your channel but I'm glad I did it's amazing you are so creative keep making amazing videos 😊😊😊
Thank you for the nice compliment! I'm glad you have enjoyed my videos so far. Thanks for watching and stay awesome!
this was a great reflection of the characters: Beast and Gaston. I just wonder about Belle's reaction to both. You see when watching this as a child and as an adult I wonder if it dawned on Belle that she is only being used. The staff in the castle and the beast want her to break the spell, where Gaston wants her to marry him and have babies ( six or seven). I do believe as the movie and story versions of Beauty and the Beast tell us that Belle and Beast do fall in love, bit prior to that she was just a pawn. Even as the Beast begins to fall in love with her the castle staff remind him that the flower is wilting and that they need to have her break the spell.
I'm really enjoying your Disney videos! I myself have a degree in animation and work for Walt Disney World ( sadly no animation job). I am a huge Disney fanatic and I am looking forward to more videos.
I had three top toys as a kid:
Teddy Ruxpin, Shamu plush toy and my Teddy bear ( Jeffery).
okay and one thing for everyone.. belle doesn't have Stockholm syndrome (Rapunzel has ..), she didn't tried to change the best he changed by himself by his own will because he wanted to ,she did nothing .
beast
+XxkurokomiichanxX I wouldn't say she did nothing. Belle was what motivated the beast to change himself. She showed him kindness and taught him tolerance
over 13,000 now!! keep up with the hard work :)
Thank you! It's been an exciting few days seeing the dramatic growth. Thanks for watching and for the support!
Totally amazing analysis dude! + PSYCHE points.
+Taiya001 I'm happy you enjoyed!! Thanks for watching!
Hey Watso videos I love your Chanel, I recently subscribed to you and I just can't get enough of your videos there awesome hope your see this so I can tell you to keep up the amazing work and always stay awesome.
Thank you so much! I really appreciate the support and I will for sure continue to create content I hope you enjoy. Thanks for watching and stay awesome!
I tend to lean nurture over nature, so I think they would swap personalities if they swapped positions. as for favorite toy... Hm, probably one of my barbies. Still love those things.
keep up the good work, love your videos!
Thank you for the support! Classic toy! Thanks for watching.
Yay first! Also I love your videos, keep up the awesome work!
Nice! I will definitely be continuing my work here on UA-cam. It's a blast and I am so happy people like you enjoy my videos. Thanks for watching and stay awesome.
The difference is that the Beast/Adam could and wanted to change whereas Gaston never would. Gaston will always be a selfish, narcissistic manipulative prick. The Beast chose to let him go, told him to leave. The Beast showed mercy and Gaston didn't because he isn't capable of real love.
but we can never know for sure if Gaston wasn't as capable, because he was never put in the extreme situation the prince was put in. If Gaston had to change his ways to transform back from a hideous beast, i think he'd be a lot more motivated, personally.
This video is wonderfully thought-provoking. Beast certainly is lucky to have Belle in his life. If it wasn't for all the one-sided praise he receives, Gaston could have ended up more like him.
The beast was only 11 when he didn't let the old lady into his home! ( the beast was trapped as a beast for 10 years before belle came and broke the curse. At that time he was 21, so 21--10=11. ).When snow white let the evil queen disguised as an old lady, into the cottage, the evil queen gave her a poisoned apple and snow white collapsed. ( 'don't let strangers into your home' vibe ) So maybe the beast was just wary of strangers. Or not.
LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS
I love all my fans like you! Thank you for the support and thanks for watching! Stay awesome.

Based
Oh, that's funny: You are calling the Beast an insecure incel even though Gaston is the one who actually behaved like one: Gaston believes that Belle owed him sex because he was nice to her and when Belle rightfully rejects him, he blames her for rejecting him.
No wonder you like Gaston as a person and despise Beast: Gaston is how YOU superficially envision yourself to be: A man who gets all the ladies without putting any effort on your part. But in reality you are a self pitying moron with confidence issues who blames everyone else for his failures instead of trying to improve your actual predicament and social skills.
Do you lack so much self-confidence that you have to spout the bullshit John Doyle speaks on a daily basis? The incels lack of self-awareness is funny and disturbing indeed.
Do you want to genuinely get a girlfriend? Then start out by shedding that entitled mindset of "I was nice to her she should have sex with me."
I think this is a very solid point. Kudos for this.
Favourite childhood toy? Probably my Lego collection, if a large crate of building blocks can be counted as one "toy". The majority of it was space Lego, so I was building space ships and at least a couple of space train sets as well. I still occasionally get new Lego, but now it more the collectable Minifigures than full sets, and even the last few sets I have bought have mainly been for the minifigures included, like buying Hobbit sets for the dwarves, or Friends and Elves sets for figures I customised.
Just subscribed. This is a brilliant channel :)
I'm happy you enjoy it! Thanks for subscribing and watching. Stay awesome.
I absolutely love your videos! I feel that you are going to make it very far in UA-cam. Just be patient and try not to get a big head, lol
Thank you for the kind words and the advice. I just want to keep making videos that I would want to find on UA-cam. Not clickbait or things that hold no meaning. I stay focused on spreading the magic I feel when I go to Disney World and watch movies through my videos. Thanks for watching and stay awesome.
WOW!! 61k subs good job dude!! 😃
Thank you! It's pretty exciting!! Thanks for watching!
You deserve way more than 2000!
Thank you! Hopefully I continue to grow! I appreciate your nice comment and checking out my video. Thanks for watching and stay awesome!
This cheered me up so much I watched it on the way to school AND when I got home AND again before dinner!
Well it makes sense... you are a Disney Lover! I'm happy you enjoyed it so much! Thanks for watching and stay awesome.
I love these videos I just subscribed
6:00 I just adore that ballroom scene. The way the animation seems to change perspective, swirl around the room and embue everything in a kind of glow is simply phenomenal. I still think it's a shame this movie lost out to "Silence of the Lambs" as the Best Motion Picture at the Oscars.
QueenBoadicea it was copied from sleeping beauty...
So? It's still one of the loveliest I've ever seen. Rossini used to borrow from his own earlier music when he was crafting new operas.
very interesting take on this age old tale - thank you
Your welcome! This is one of my favorites so it was a joy to make. Thanks for watching and stay awesome.
Sorry for the long comment. I just love the story of Beauty and the Beast! Thanks for the Disney movie theories!
This is a great video!
Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
In Once Upon a Time the characters have a lot of clever names alluding to their fairy tale/disney selves. Mary Margaret Blanchard meaning pure and white is Snow White, Ashley as in ash is Cinderella as in cinders and the queen of hearts was named Cora meaning heart. Then they kind of dropped the ball on Belle and just named her Belle French. I'm not even sure if that was their original intent but after researching clever names they just decided to give themselves a break.
Lol! I guess so. XD
Based on your tone it seems like you think you're telling me things I don't already know. Let me assure you you're not
My personal theory is that the Beast and Gaston are very similar, but that the Beast must have started out with kindness that Gaston never had. I imagine that the Beast merited magical intervention by the enchantress because he did have goodness in him, however deeply buried. In Gaston there was nothing to redeem. I think this because of when Beast fights the wolves to save Belle. At this point, Belle has broken her promise to stay. True, he frightened her, but if he were really as horrible is he seems to be, wouldn't he have considered this unforgivable of her? Instead, he goes after her, not to bring her back or punish her, but to save her life. Whatever possible ulterior motive one could attribute to him, dying for her sake would not have furthered that end. He took the risk anyway. So, his deepest nature is revealed. I think he wouldn't actually have let Maurice die in his dungeon, but that's just me. Anyway, so the Beast's deepest instinct is to save someone. Gaston's is to kill. He is the hunter, after all. When he realizes that his plan to get Belle to marry him isn't working, he stirs up fear of the Beast, and gets the townsfolk to go with him to kill the Beast. He has no natural instinct for kindness or for saving someone. His pride is wounded and he's vindictive, wanting to hurt Belle, and have her, so he goes after Beast. He considers Belle preferring the Beast over him to be unforgivable, even though she never made any promises to him. So, there you have it. Similar they may be, but Beast is redeemable, and Gaston is not. According to me.
This video really explains a lot of the ending of ytp Gastons quest for taco belle.
thanx for the cool and inforamative video:)
Your welcome. Thanks for supporting me and checking out my content! Stay awesome.
I love belle, also great vid!
So do I! She is one of my favorite Disney princesses! Thanks for watching and stay awesome!
Also I like that last bit where you called Gaston the beast and the Beast the man.
I was actually thinking about this before I found your theory and I didn't even know it existed!! Wow lol
This is so COOL!!
I'm glad you liked it! Thanks for watching!
Oh by the way after watching your video I was also trying to figure out the whole 10 years we've been rusting thing and thanks to watching your video I was able to come up with my own theory for that so thank you and I mean it's a bit of a stretch I haven't figured out every part of the theory because they're just a few gaps here and there but I did come up with something
Now that I think about it, the Beast and Gaston kind of remind me of Frolo and Quasimodo from the Hunchback of Notre Dam. Gaston and Frolo being monsters at heart, but accepted by society because of there positions and appearances. The Beast and Quasimodo being men in the form of something society deems worthy of not adoration and praise, but rather rejection and cruelty.
I love your videos 😍
Hey great vid and I agree with your theory by the way! I just wanted to say have heard of the butterfly effect theory? Its basically about how your choices can result in a positive/negative outcome or lead to something drastic. Basically cause and effect, anyway I was thinking could choices define who someone becomes when they grow up?
Shannon Shan I see what you mean. The weirdest thing about that is every choice every day could change who anyone is. I do think single choices can define someone. I like would like to explore this idea soon in a video! Thanks for watching!
That's great you should check out the butterfly effect movie made in 2004 that really goes into depth about that theory or until dawn which is more modern its horror game though that's like a stereotypical horror movie so might be quite scary. :)
Okay awesome. Thanks for sharing!
No problem :)
Fantastic arguments!
Thank you!!
When you realize this is so old that now he has 500,000 subscribers.
+Wotso Videos: Can you make a video connecting Beauty and the Beast and Part 2 as well (The Enchanted Christmas)? I'm confused as hell LOL
love your videos man! my favorite childhood toy is my stuffed webkinz bear.
I was a fan of Webkinz back in the day. I had quite a few but my favorite was a tree frog that I named Gidget. Thanks for watching and the support! Stay awesome.
Wotso Videos
I collected Webkinz too! That's pretty ironic, now I make Disney videos!
theory at 0:30 gaston was raised my someone related to Adam(aka beast) but was raised the hard way and that how he has gaston as his ego to rule and have people fighting for him for adam, he wasn't taken care of properly and being ignored by his parents and Adams parents might be in a trip (or ran away from Adam) later on in his life he started to have anxity and anger issues and feeling alone then a fairy came (because fairies come to help people in Disney movies) but Adam was rude because of his childhood so the fairy came and put a spell. for gaston, the fairy granted gaston his wishes but not making belle like him and then he moved away from the castle and the fairy brainwashed everyone about gaston being related to beast and make everyone forget about the castle
My favorite childhood toy is a stuffed bear I named Tippy. Just a little brown bear in overalls. I actually have 3 of them now.
There is a Disney Novel called "The Beast Within: A Tale of the Beauty's Prince" and it might help with understanding why they are so similar. I don't want to drop a spoiler here... but after reading that piece you will see Gaston in a very different light to the point where your going to pity him in the end.
I loved this movie,If Gaston was nurtured like Beast was by Belle maybe he would be different.
Disney's "Beauty and the Beast" is my all time # 1 favorite Disney animated movie --- the 2017 live action remake (in my opinion) was really good... All in all -- I think they did a great job... Beast and Gaston do start out as similar people with similar personality traits... I agree with you -- Issac (I hope I spelled your name right)... That even though they may seem to be extremely similar people.. Towards the end... That's when the really Awesomeness events are unfolded...
anyone noticed that there is an unusual amount of furniture in his bedroom?
maybe the extra bits of furniture are some of the servants who possibly did something bad and well the beast killed them
The funny thing is that Gaston and the Beast have the same voice in Brazil.
I think that the beast saw him self in gustan in the end but had mercy on him and sort of a hope that maybe one day he could change as he had learnt to love. In the end the best reply deeply understood the meaning of love and was content
I thought that Gaston wasn't owner of pub, but more like the member of a hunting lodge (with a pub), which is why there are animals mounted on the wall?
I love watching your videos, first off! They take up 90% of my spare time and I wouldn't have it any other way. Although, I have to disagree with you about the whole 'both Gaston and Beast loved animal decorations'. Simply because if you notice at the end of the movie when the curse was broken, the castle changed into something completely opposite of what it was. When the prince was cursed, the enchantress made him as ugly on the outside as he was on the inside. His castle hands were turned into objects, for he treated them as such, and his castle was turned into a terrifying place of scary statues and dark stone since I'm sure it was a hellish place to live because the prince, and his terrible anger and pride, made it so. When the curse was broken, the beast became a human again, as he had found his humanity once more, his castle hands became human again as well, for he had learned to love and respect them as such, and his castle became a beautiful haven and home for them all because they had learned to become a loving family again.
Just a thought.
I think that it is both our genetics and our choices. I think that it is more complicated than just nurture but also our choices throughout one's upbringing and life that make us who we are.
Mhmm. The choices we make are kind of difficult to explain as well which is why I didn't include them in this. Do our actions reflect the society we live in? Is our idea of free will truly there if our surroundings mold us? Thanks for watching!
Throughout the movie their souls fully came to light as their man and beast masks melted away revealing who they truly r beast a passionate prince gaston a brutish neandrathaw
I think that when it comes to the Nature VS Nurture argument everyone is a mix of both so it is possible that they would have changed personalities if they lived in the others shoes.
I have a blue parrot that is unnamed. There is also a Unicorn that I have had for as long as I can remember.
These make good points. By the way, my favorite childhood toy is my big teddy bear names Bonnie that I still have
omg in over a month you gained 8 thousand subs that's crazy
Man that is crazy!! I'm happy I'm doing well. Thanks for watching!
In the 1946 live-action French film version of Beauty and the Beast, the Beast and the Gaston character (here called "Avenant") were played by the same actor, and when the Gaston character is killed, he turns into the (dead) Beast while the Beast turns into the Prince (with the Gaston's face).
Can you do the full story of Gaston's sidekick, Lefou?
Beautiful!!
for a moment like many other I thought this was going to go into some story of how beast and Gaston were one in the same person, my thought of what the video was going to be that Gaston being the human side of beast retained some memories of childhood but the castle was replaced with the village in his mind the the enchantress gave him parents that would raise him to continue him on the same progress as beast would be making them live similar attitudes and why they both fall for belle and then at the end Gaston fell from the height that he did could been a long drop and by the time he hits the ground and dies is nearly at the same time that beast is about to die, beast and Gaston take a final breath and then their souls merge one more to become a new man, the loving side being more dominant and the stern, ego side is what he uses on the servants when they've done something wrong but it isn't as bad as it was before.
then I watch the vid and I'm like oh that's not what it said lmao, well I made my own theory and it's mind fucking me right now lmao
Read Liz Brasewell's BATB Twisted tale. She keeps reminding the similarities between Gaston and the Beast.
I love your videos
I'm happy you are enjoying them :D Thanks for watching!
Can you do Lufu's back story from beauty and the Beast?
The cartoon is almost EXACTLY like the new movie. But in the movie it goes into more detail about the characters and their backstories! If you haven't seen it I recommend it! 😃
