Oh my gosh guys…. I have never “binge watched” anything in my life. And I don’t even have Netflix. But MAN, I cannot stop watching the UA-cam channel Ghost Town Living!! I love it. I’m totally hooked. I have watched 15 episodes in the past couple days. I hope you guys go visit someday and film the visit.
Isn't it the best?! We really want to go volunteer! The van definitely wouldn't be able to handle the road, but maybe next year when we are close-ish to him we can swing by and help!
The most beautiful pass in all of Colorado, Red Mountain Pass. My favorite place to be is Ouray. Take the jeep trip to the top of top of Red Mountain for an awesome experience. My first experience on the Million Dollar Highway was back as far as the 1950's, it was even more beautiful and more dangerous than it is now as the highway was more narrow. My last trip was in 2015, I took my Grandson up to see where his Pappy and I spent so many happy times. I really enjoyed your video, it brought back lots of sweet memories, Thank you,
So glad we could bring back some great memories! Would be cool to see the road over the years and how it has changed! Stay tuned for the next video for a Jeep adventure!
That rooftop terrace was all kinds of beautiful and the idea of doing a burrito in a panini press is genius! It's very cool to learn you've never been into a mine before. I grew up in the North East of England which used to be huge for coal mining so even as a little kid, I'd get taken off to mines you could visit. I agree though the one you chose was a good one as you got so involved in the tour. I liked the guide too - was in bits over the toilet wagon and the idea of some prankster pushing you away! 🤣
A panini press burrito is so genius! And our guide was amazing! He was so fun to listen to and we cannot imagine being pushed away while on the honey wagon 😂😂😂
I'm an old man now but I was born and raised in Colorado. I've lived here all my life and I've never seen all of Colorado I want to see. I love the ocean but I will never leave the mountains. I don't have to tread water here. I lived most of my life in the Sangre de Cristo mountains on the front range but they are shallow compared to the San Juan mountains. At every turn there is a post card vista. I now live in the San Luis Valley which is considered a desert even though the elevation is above 7500 feet and all the front range cities never cease to attempt to get their hands on the water here to feed their never ending desire for growth.
Great video, as always - thanks. This episode brought back many memories, as I and a couple friends worked for 6 months in the Idarado Mine spring/summer of 1974. We rented a house in Ouray and rode the company bus each day up to the mine. At that time, I wanted the experience and needed the money. I was on the crew that began our shift where you filmed from the highway and rode the train several miles into the mountain to a point where we then took the lift up to our work level. Yes, at the end of our drift (tunnel) we could look down at the town of Telluride, way below. I'm 75 now, and despite the cold, wet and dangerous working conditions, these Colorado memories are still some of my most cherished and vivid. Life is all about your experiences - let it be.

His name is Brad and he’s so rad Bringing smiles our way every single day ^ not as good as yours, but we tried! 😂 So glad you enjoyed this one! We were super pumped to share this tour with y’all!
OOOOOH. That mine looks AWESOME. We have one down here in southeastern AZ that we keep thinking would be fun to do (last year made it a little iffy to think about doing) but I'm thinking it needs to happen now after seeing your adventure in the mine. That guide was so awesome! Now I also feel like I need to go out and purchase a panini press. 🤣
We’re looking forward to driving the million dollar highway very soon. Really appreciate your enthusiasm for history. The mine tour was genuinely fascinating!
Awesome. Yes I love Brent he's so passionate about Cerro Gordo. Wow what incredible views. Thank you so much for sharing. I love you guys. This trip is definitely on my bucket list.
Really, really enjoyed this video. Great work guys. Back in the 70's, Idarado Mining was a customer of ours and my dad would make deliveries to them. He raved for the rest of his life about making that drive to Ouray. Loved the drone shots! Also a huge fan of Brent and Ghost Town Living. Looking forward to more of your adventures in this area.
Thanks Trav, we're so glad! We are loving all of the mining history here. And how cool that your dad got to make that drive all of the time! We drove it probably 6 times before we left the area and loved it every single time.
I miss my home in Durango SO much! Hope to be moving back soon! I took a friend there last year, and on the drive from Durango to Ouray, I bet she said, “ oh my God!” 50 times, lol! She couldn’t get over how gorgeous it was!
The mine tour looked so fun! And seeing the joy in your faces when they let you try the drilling machine looked like a super nice treat on the tour. But wow, that drive on the Million Dollar Highway isn’t for the faint of heart with no guardrails😬
Dern those vintage things! Loved all the views… first time we had heard all the various theories on how the highway got the nickname too! The mine tour looked awesome too- super cool you got to use some of the tools and your guide was AMAZING!!
When my wife and I visited Arizona last year, it felt like we went not only from the Houston swamps to the desert but also from jalapeno country to green chile country. We didn't complain, it was also delicious. I kept wondering if your miner guide is Native American, he has that lilt to his voice. It's fascinating to see what has become of our recent history, old abandoned houses nestled in the beauty of the West, wondering what such a life was like for those who dwelled there.
He may have been! I believe he said he is from Arizona and he was such a nice guy. We have really enjoyed seeing the mining history in Colorado, it's wild to see how people lived and the hard work and conditions they endured!
I love Silverton!! We did the mine tour the year before last . It was so much fun. I was excited to join you guys, on your mine tour . Silverton is a beautiful old town . This was a very informative video. All your videos are so well done 😀🤗👍
Wowza…that scenery was gorgeous! Colorado is sooooo beautiful! The Million Dollar Highway looked a bit scary but definitely worth the drive. Thanks for all the history…I’m very impressed with your ability to remember all those facts…great job❣️
That’s awesome! Don’t forget our website too! We can be much more detailed and thorough on a blog post than a video! We hope y’all have a great trip! And thanks for watching!
We are thankfully doing pretty well with the altitude! Definitely makes it harder to breathe on hikes, but we've been in CO for almost 2 months now, so our bodies are somewhat acclimated.
Really, really enjoyed this entry. I mean, I always enjoy your videos but this was a fun change of pace. The mining tour was awesome. Very informative but also very interesting. Can’t say that I have ever done a mining tour but I will be on lookout for one in our future travels. Million Dollar Highway had views for days. Beautiful!
Great video guys! I would have loved the mine tour and especially using the machinery. Ouray is just so beautiful, it really does remind one of Switzerland. Take care and safe travels.
Hi guys, love your videos. I used your videos to help plan my South Dakota trip, they were very helpful. On the way home we stayed in Ouray & spent a day in Silverton. When I got home I seen you guys were in the same place, too bad I missed you. Thanks for the entertaining, helpful videos.
I've been to Silverton numerous times, but never the mine. Now I need to go again. BTW, how did you manage to film within Silverton when there were NO people in sight??
Love your videos and adventures, so glad to see this one... Because...We were in this same place the end of March, during a crazy snowstorm, took 3 hours to drive from Ouray to Durango!!! The snow was above our van on the passes. Driving the million dollar highway at night, covered in snow, during a blinding snowstorm is NOT FUN!!! Overall can't wait to go back!!!!!
Silverton is a really cool town, I used to live in Frisco, CO and always wanted to get to Silverton ski resort in the winter but never made it down there.
Thank you for another amazing video. I visited Ridgway, just north of Ouray. Traveled from Ridgway, across a mountain pass, to Telluride, by Jeep. Absolutely beautiful! Can’t believe I was that close to the Million Dollar Road and didn’t go! I guess I will have to go back!
Just found your channel today and love it! I have been in the mining industry for 20+ years and am fascinated with old mining history. We have been chasing old mines in Montana and Idaho recently. We are headed to CO next month and looking forward to seeing this area and visiting the Old Hundred Gold Mine. There is an old Gold Mine in Cripple Creek, Co where they take you 1000 feet down a shaft to tour the mine. If you are in the area you should check it out. Thanks for posting!
How cool! What all do you do for mining? We are so fascinated with it! And thank you so much for the mine tip, we will have to check it out someday because that sounds AWESOME!
@@AdventuresofAplusK I currently have a Mine Safety Training and Consulting business. I do the certifications for the miners. Before that I was Federal Mine Inspector. I inspected over 300 mines during my time with the government.
That mine tour was great especially letting you “use” the equipment. We stopped at the Mayflower Gold Mine located on the main road that you traveled to get to the Hundred Mine. It was all about how they processed what was mined; the docent who was there when we stopped was very informative. In your “mine” they road the train into the mountain, from the Mayflower they rode in buckets a long distance to get to the mountain to the actual mine and then the gold/silver;agate etc was placed in the buckets to get to the mill. What they did back then was amazing; there was no safety council to put limits on them! LOL
Hey guys! I just came across your channel and have been binge watching your guys videos! They are amazing! The quality, editing, voiceovers of information and the music in your videos is awesome! You guys seem really humble and down to earth and feels like I’m experiencing your guys journeys alongside you guys. Thanks for sharing and Keep up the great work! You’ll make it to 100k in no time! Just subbed! 😁👍🏼
We hope you have a great trip! Be sure to check out our website as well. We have guides and itineraries for SW Colorado that will hopefully help with your planning also!
We love mines! Great tour! Beautiful scenery & love the history! Keep up the bloopers guys!! If you get the chance visit Dahlonega GA gold mining began in 1828, its said the phrase “There’s Gold in them hills” was first said on the Historic court house steps! ~Cara 😊
i m sorry for not messaging you, i had a accient in yellowstone, fell down a hill top about 100 foot down, but im all brusied up and doing better. the ranger said that it was a miracle i didnt die. i told the ranger that i ran out off dying???. a very happy to see you 2 are sill on the move. love your site and videos.
Just watched this and your previous one. Such amazing views. Enjoying your million dollar adventures from Indianapolis. I'll check out Ghost Town Living. Take care.
Wow! Seriously so beautiful. Also, shout out to lofted coffee shops! There's one in Appleton, WI called Lou's Brew and has such a neat environment. By the way, your breakfast burrito sounded SO good!
I can say, I’ve driven dozens of mountain passes but I almost died on the million dollar highway. It happened at those S curves you stopped at. I was coming down from the Silverton side in early March just before 9 am. The plow truck hadn’t come through yet. I was only doing 15 mph because it was icy, but I forgot to turn my traction control off and I forgot to put my truck in four wheel drive. I started sliding. Luckily there was about 3 feet of snow piled up because my truck slammed into it sideways. I was stuck, had to shovel the snow around my truck and needed to be towed out but my truck was mere inches from the drop off. The drop off was maybe 20 ft but enough to roll the truck a couple times. Funny thing is, less than 5 minutes after it happened, the plow truck came through making his first pass and completely scrapped the ice off of the road. If I had waited just 5 more minutes before I left, I would’ve been fine…live and learn.
Clearly we need to explore Colorado more. The million dollar highway was beautiful! Oh, not sure if you have already been told or figured out that the agate rock is pronounced, (a-gut), with the short a sound at the beginning. Can't wait to see what Ouray has in store!
Good white knuckle driving! Many places like that in Colorado. Lol. We never made it this far south when visiting so loving your videos. Now I need to go back! Thanks!!
My wife and I drove the million dollar mile in a truck and camper when it was snowing and slick. We passed one car that had gone over the side. I was a nervous wreck when we got to Grand Junction.
What a beautiful drive! I was to nervous to take this route last year on our way to Durango. Watching your video of the drive is awesome, still not sure I could do the drive with those tight curves and drop offs lol
Was in Silverton when they had the skijoring races, craziest thing I ever saw. Ps if ur going back to Durango you have to eat at zia taqueria or raider ridge cafe . Afterwards hike animas mtn.
Love you guys your videos are always so informative. I will be visiting Denver and Colorado Springs in September hopefully you will travel there and share your great tips.
Hi Maggie! We aren't visiting those cities this time (at least on the vlog), but we have a guide on our site with tips adventuresofaplusk.com/4-days-in-colorado/ + a video from Denver ua-cam.com/video/njsGqV6OSPU/v-deo.html
I really enjoy your videos, love the style and you guys are basically covering my planned trip through Colorado which I would be on right now if it were not for Covid, and travel restrictions from New Zealand, hopefully can get there next year, at least the delay allows me to add some of the stops you guys have shown
I hope you will go to the Silver Jack Reservoir while you are up there. I would love to get your opinion on the drive from Ridgeway to Silver Jack. Is it advisable with a rig like yours? I love your enthusiasm. I'm glad to have found your channel.
Absolutely love your videos! Would you happen to remember what time of the year you were in the stretch of Colorado? The temperature and the waterfall runoff looks perfect.
I love your trek thru Colorado I wish we had more time when we were driving thru the same high way 550, there is always next time haha!! Hello from Golden Colorado 👋🏼💜
hi guys. love your videos, they're the perfect blend of tips and entertainment. i have one question: when was this video taken? weather looks great. greetings from merida!
When my mom was little (late 40s early 50s), they would call the grocery and ask, “do you have Prince Albert in a can?” When the clerk replied yes they would say “you better let him out!” and hang up the phone giggling.
Hi guys. enjoy your videos. funny how i also watch "ghost town living" in fact, just emailed brent to see when we can visit and would be so awesome if you can be there too! two channels with one visit haha! Just finished our vacation in Utah and your videos were great help. Unfortunately we didnt have help getting into the peek-a-boo slot canyon :(
Thanks for the tour of Old Hundred, we've never taken that tour. The river is pronounced Un-Come-Pa-Gray. Have fun in town, it is a wonderful place to visit. Travel Safe. PS... take a jeep tour.
@@AdventuresofAplusK It took me several years to learn how to say it. LOL (And I live in Colorado!) Of the various channels I watch, yours is the best for showing what there is to see when traveling. Although we do more overlanding and off-roading stuff, there is still a need to know what is to be seen in the various areas we pass through. Keep up the good work.
The ultimate ride over that road is hauling a Bulldozer on an a heavy haul trailer. Lots of hand gestures from the passing cars. We even stopped for pictures along the way.

We loved that entire area from Ouray to Ridgway to Telluride!
Here is the Cripple Creek mine: www.goldminetours.com/
Great Video.
Thank You for Sharing it.
Thanks so much for watching!
LOL
We saw those buckets while driving! (Or we saw some buckets) I wish we could do a tour in buckets, that would be so fun! Mining is such a wild job!
@@AdventuresofAplusK Yes, those are the buckets the miners rode in all the way to the mountain across the way! Pretty amazing what they did!

@@AdventuresofAplusK Will do! I'm also gonna climb my 1st 14th Mt Sneffels. Hope I don't die 😂
We love mines! Great tour! Beautiful scenery & love the history! Keep up the bloopers guys!! If you get the chance visit Dahlonega GA gold mining began in 1828, its said the phrase “There’s Gold in them hills” was first said on the Historic court house steps! ~Cara 😊
We are super into mining haha! It has been so fun to see all of the mines in the area. And good to know about the Dahlonega mine!
Omg I want to try that breakfast burrito. That's the coolest one I've ever seen.
It is such a unique shape!

Just watched this and your previous one. Such amazing views. Enjoying your million dollar adventures from Indianapolis. I'll check out Ghost Town Living. Take care.
Hi Eric! Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! Seriously so beautiful. Also, shout out to lofted coffee shops! There's one in Appleton, WI called Lou's Brew and has such a neat environment. By the way, your breakfast burrito sounded SO good!
Oooo we will have to check it out if we make it to Appleton!
Yes!! Coffee Bear!
☕️🐻 excellent stuff!
@@AdventuresofAplusK agreed and excellent job on your videos, your channel is outstanding.
Thank you and thanks for watching!
I want to go there for the burrito, coffee and view!!
Yes!!! We went a few times to use their wifi and just loved that coffee shop so much!
Going to Silverton and Durango with my friends this summer because of you guys!
Yes! You’ll love it!
That is super scary! I don't think we'd be up to driving it with ice! We're glad you're ok!
We'll be there next week. I'll send you some photos.
Woo! Have a blast and we'd love to see them!
Clearly we need to explore Colorado more. The million dollar highway was beautiful! Oh, not sure if you have already been told or figured out that the agate rock is pronounced, (a-gut), with the short a sound at the beginning. Can't wait to see what Ouray has in store!
Hahah we learned today...oops! 😅 Filming without cell service is tough when we can't google pronunciations!
Oh my gosh I can’t wait to visit Colorado!!
Your adventures are incredible.
I can’t wait till you guys make your way down to California one day 🤗
We are excited to spend more time in CA!
Great video, my wife still get scared thinking about the million dollar hwy.
It's definitely a bit nerve-racking with the drop offs!
Colorado, such a beautiful state. Not sure how long or if you're still there but definitely if possible drive up Pike's Peak!
We unfortunately aren't headed to that part of the state, but really want to make that drive sometime!
Good white knuckle driving! Many places like that in Colorado. Lol. We never made it this far south when visiting so loving your videos. Now I need to go back! Thanks!!
Lots of crazy mountain roads! We highly recommend SW Colorado, it's truly a special place with some of the best scenery we have ever seen!
My wife and I drove the million dollar mile in a truck and camper when it was snowing and slick. We passed one car that had gone over the side. I was a nervous wreck when we got to Grand Junction.
Oh gosh, that’s scary! 😱😱
What a beautiful drive! I was to nervous to take this route last year on our way to Durango. Watching your video of the drive is awesome, still not sure I could do the drive with those tight curves and drop offs lol
It’s a gorgeous drive! Definitely worth the sketchier parts!
Was in Silverton when they had the skijoring races, craziest thing I ever saw.
Ps if ur going back to Durango you have to eat at zia taqueria or raider ridge cafe . Afterwards hike animas mtn.
Whaaaaat that looks crazy! Had to Google what that meant haha! And thanks for the recommendation, we will keep those in mind for our next time there!
I really enjoy your videos, love the style and you guys are basically covering my planned trip through Colorado which I would be on right now if it were not for Covid, and travel restrictions from New Zealand, hopefully can get there next year, at least the delay allows me to add some of the stops you guys have shown
We so hope you can make it soon! And that we can make it your way!
@@AdventuresofAplusK if you do I would be happy to give you some local travel tips
I hope you will go to the Silver Jack Reservoir while you are up there.
I would love to get your opinion on the drive from Ridgeway to Silver Jack. Is it advisable with a rig like yours?
I love your enthusiasm. I'm glad to have found your channel.
Hi! We didn't have a chance to make it there this time. Too many incredible spots, not enough time unfortunately. It looks gorgeous though!
Absolutely love your videos! Would you happen to remember what time of the year you were in the stretch of Colorado? The temperature and the waterfall runoff looks perfect.
This was June 2021. That’s about as early as you want to go! Thanks and thanks for watching!
I love your trek thru Colorado I wish we had more time when we were driving thru the same high way 550, there is always next time haha!!
Hello from Golden Colorado 👋🏼💜
Hi! You’ve gotta go back when you can! SW Colorado is a bucket list item!
I could listen to the Miner talk all day long
Us too! He was the best! So glad you enjoyed hearing him as well 💕
If you haven't already gone there black canyon of the Gunnison and Colorado National Monument are a couple incredible places in that part of Colorado.
We visited Black Canyon of the Gunnison a couple weeks ago and it was awesome. Video to come soon-ish!
hi guys. love your videos, they're the perfect blend of tips and entertainment. i have one question: when was this video taken? weather looks great. greetings from merida!
When my mom was little (late 40s early 50s), they would call the grocery and ask, “do you have Prince Albert in a can?” When the clerk replied yes they would say “you better let him out!” and hang up the phone giggling.
Hahahahaha that’s hilarious 😂
Hi guys. enjoy your videos. funny how i also watch "ghost town living" in fact, just emailed brent to see when we can visit and would be so awesome if you can be there too! two channels with one visit haha! Just finished our vacation in Utah and your videos were great help. Unfortunately we didnt have help getting into the peek-a-boo slot canyon :(
We want to visit Brent so badly! Hopefully someday!!
Is there an alternate route where you don’t have to take the Million Dollar Highway? Is there a way that is longer but no steep dropoffs?
Thanks for the tour of Old Hundred, we've never taken that tour. The river is pronounced Un-Come-Pa-Gray. Have fun in town, it is a wonderful place to visit. Travel Safe.
PS... take a jeep tour.
We thankfully learned how to say it before filming the next few videos! Phew! And our next video will include a Jeep 😉
@@AdventuresofAplusK It took me several years to learn how to say it. LOL (And I live in Colorado!)
Of the various channels I watch, yours is the best for showing what there is to see when traveling. Although we do more overlanding and off-roading stuff, there is still a need to know what is to be seen in the various areas we pass through. Keep up the good work.
We really appreciate it, thank you!
The ultimate ride over that road is hauling a Bulldozer on an a heavy haul trailer. Lots of hand gestures from the passing cars. We even stopped for pictures along the way.
Oh wow! We saw some semis and were majorly impressed! Although one did take a turn too hard and kind of half fell over 😳
