Kumburulena Cave Temple, Rideegama || කුඹුරුලෙන රජමහා විහාරය, රිදීගම

This historic #Kumburulena Raja Maha Vihara belongs to Warakawehera village on the #Rideegama road via #Mallawapitiya #Kavisigamuwa and is a temple belonging to the early period of #Anuradhapura. Located on the slope of Ridee Vihara mountain, around six carved stones can be seen throughout this historic shrine. These stones have been used as temples and Dharmashalas. According to one of the inscriptions found here, this cave temple was built by the Dola director of King #Walagamba. At present, this temple is functioning as a pirivana. This temple was mentioned as "Kumburulena" in the Vihara Asna or name book written during the Kandy period, which confirms that this temple was a very famous temple during the #Kandy period as well.
#මල්ලවපිටිය #කවිසිගමුව හරහා #රිදීගම මාර්ගයේ #වරකාවැහැර ග්‍රාමයට අයත් මෙම #ඓතිහාසික #කුඹුරුලෙන රජ මහා විහාරය #අනුරාධපුර මුල් යුගයට අයත් විහාරයකි. රිදී විහාර කන්දෙහි බෑවුමකට වන්නට පිහිටා ඇති මෙම ඓතිහාසික පුදබිම පුරා කටාරම් කොටන ලද ගල්ලෙන් හයක් පමණ දැකිය හැක. මෙම ගල්ලෙන් විහාර මන්දිර සහ ධර්මශාලා ලෙස භාවිතා කර තිබේ. මෙහි ඇති එක් ලෙල්ලිපියකට අනුව මෙම ලෙන් විහාරය කරවා ඇත්තේ #වළගම්බා රජුගේ දෝලා අධ්‍යක්ෂක විසිනි. වර්තමානයේ මෙම විහාරය පිරිවෙනක් ලෙස ක්‍රියාත්මක වේ. #මහනුවර සමයේදී ලියැවුණු විහාර අස්න හෙවත් නම් පොතෙහි මෙම විහාරය "කුඹුරුලෙන" ලෙස සඳහන් කර තිබීමෙන් මහනුවර සමයේද මෙම විහාරය ඉතා ප්‍රසිද්ධ විහාරයක් බවට තහවුරු වේ.
