I've watched all your caffeine videos. Combined with my own experience, I'm concluding that caffeine is neither inherently bad or good. It seems that the healthy person can extract utility from caffeine and possibly modestly enhance long term health gains. Sickly people can use caffeine can use caffeine to mask inadequacies. Really sick people probably have to give up caffeine due to effects that exacerbate underlying problems. I've had to give up coffee/caffeine in the past, and it came hand in hand with poor health. Once I started getting my lifestyle in order, and a certain amount of vitality restored (after many months), I reintroduced 1 or 2 cups of coffee in the morning, and 1 or 2 decaf in the afternoon, and I only perceive benefits. I just knocked out 10 sets of pushups. It's been 2 decades since I've been able to do pushups. Resting daytime blood pressure: 117/75 nighttime 114/72
One single cup of coffee sent me to the hospital after having the worse panic attack and tachycardia ... Caffeine is the worse thing you can give to someone who suffers from anxiety disorder.
I ran across some literature on that, actually. I may release a video on the topic.
I'm sorry You've experienced this. different People react differently though. I also suffer from anxiety-disorders, and I drink up to 12 coffees per day with no such consequences. on the other hand, excess alcohol has 1ce caused Me what very closely resembled a panic-attack, and yes-horrible tachycardia. I thought I was gonna die that night [too bad it didn't happen]. regards.
When I'm caffeine free I can handle stress better. After hours of work at the computer I get super anxious if I've had caffeine, if not, I'm just working relaxed. Caffeine also makes me irritable and causes a lot of negative thoughts. It's incredible how something we use on our daily lives have such an inmense effect.
I'm curious about "caffeine" vs "coffee". The studies in this video were about coffee, which has lots of nice polyphenols and such. In your reading of the research, would you say green tea and coffee have similar outcomes? My guess is that other processed forms of caffeine like pills or Red Bull would have less favorable long-term outcomes
Great call, Zachary. I should have added something about the distinction. So, they also looked at other caffeine sources and found similar results with tea (although less pronounced).
I can't help thinking about Italians who drink loads of coffee ...
Is really caffeine? Or processed carbs foods high in sugar and corn 🌽 oils?
I don't follow? Caffeine is a chemical compound.
Great video!
The subject has intrigued me a lot in the past So I measured my blood pressure before and after drinking my coffee And the numbers were much lower after coffee consumption
So I never understood why coffee is automatically linked to blood pressure...
Maybe in unreasonable consumption maybe by concentrated supplements but one or two or five cups of coffee should not make the blood pressure go crazy except for an exception from which of course nothing can be learned... The benefits of coffee are also very difficult to explain because, as with any plant, there are antioxidants as part of the natural defense system.
Whatever happens in the future will not really change the consumption of coffee because coffee has long been not a drink but a social culture and even a status ...
Interesting - that's atypical to the research, but you're right - high consumption plays a factor. Also, how long you've been consuming it also plays a role. No - I think coffee is safe. :)
@@Physionic
There is no doubt about that
But significant health benefits? I was not so convinced by reading the studies of the last decade ...
Again.Like any plant contains natural preservatives There is no magic here just a pleasure
(By the way my coffee for 20 years has not changed at all. Strong black with no sugar and no milk)
Thanks so much for the content Prof Nick
That's how I take it, myself, Yaron!
Great information! Thank you 🙏🏼
My absolute pleasure, Irving.
Can you talk about caffeine supplements. Which one is best?
As in, which brand?
@@Physionic yes please 😊. I recently saw something circulating about what caffeine pills are made of 😳. So maybe what the best source to consume before heading out on my bike at 5am. Thanks!!
I cut back on caffeine a lot. I read it is bad for people that have food sensitivities and IBS. I have both. I tried coffee substitutes but I did not like most of them. Too, me it was like drinking grass! I need real coffee. I just gradually cut back.
Ah, that sucks. I feel for you - I’d be struggling doing the same. I’ve cut back, as well, but I still have one cup a day.
@@Physionic I need at least 2-3 but trying to get it down to two. Also, I am going to see if, I can slowly get in the habit of eating more dark chocolate more which is something i have been meaning to do for a while now. I read the health benefits.
I am taking a Nutrition course as of 2 weeks ago last minute decision. My friend took one when he took Pharmacy Tech years ago. However, this one has no math in it so, I should be fine, I hope lol.
@@Physionic any particular reason you are trying to reduce your intake?
@@MDobri-sy1ce Good luck on your nutrition course, Dobri. :)
@@Mario-forall I'm perpetually stressed and adding a stimulant just doesn't help my cause.
Are there any effects on the brain?
coffee decrease blood flow to the brain I learned from Dr. Amen
I think I learned it also correlated to less Alzheimer's and parkinsons
@@nick55ification Nick is right - there is some literature, although I haven't looked at in depth, that caffeine aids against Alzheimer's.
Thank you so much for sharing these studies and the information
How would i know if I am slow or fast caffeine metabolizer? What kind of test requires 😊 to know
All what i can tell you that i am using Purity_coffee and have asked for C of A , i got it very clean coffee with high antioxidants (the analysis of pesticides and herbicides showed was very clean)
And i do One coffee per day in the morning....i know if i do another one after 3pm it will impact my sleeping cycle therefore for years I kept it one per day ...i think i am slow metabolizer 😁
Just wait 24 hours and the next video will answer that, Juliat. :)
@@Physionic thank you so much
Hopefully you will release it tomorrow morning before I go to work
Cool info. I'm a 1-2 cup drinker ;) Safer. It's great for satiating me
Same here, Talia. Thanks!
I had to comment. It's simple no? If you consume zero coffee in todays world you are either a nut or worried about bp...in other words anxious...if you consume 10 cups a day the same. Coffee is good for you. Hence u shape curve. QED
interesting.
I thought so, too, Jason.
Have you invested in a coffee company? You are very concerned about caffeine, lol.
Haha, no. I saw that my caffeine on performance series did well, so I thought another one on caffeine might be helpful. However, it seems people are not interested in caffeine on heart health since this series did significantly worse. Either way, it's good feedback.
We all love caffeine and consume it. It's a great thing to look at. And potentially controversial
