Bought the kit from your website and installed it a few minutes ago! Looks factory and works like a charm! The tutorial video made all the difference!
Pretty simple install in my 2023 Tacoma. I did use a jigsaw for the plug hole - easier and cleaner if you already the saw.
Is there a way to install an outlet in your truck bed if your truck didn't come with that feature to begin with?
Oh yes - super easy. Now I can run my freezer in my p/u bed as I go cross-country. Thanks!
What a wonderful DIY video, On my list to do, thanks
This is awesome. Definitely gonna but this. It would be better if you had the vertical one maybe that one can be put next to the wireless charger button? More of a flush one look.
Shaun - Great tutorial...it was just what I needed. Harness install was 30 min start to finish with plug install on the back of the console. 100W is a thing of the past. Good product.
What I wanna know is why Toyota doesn’t want you to have 400W on the go. There’s prob a reason, it can’t be about distraction because the plug is in the bed. I’m wondering if maybe there’s an EMI issue at 400W like radio interference or some such. You’d think they’d just fix it tho.
They don't want to overload the alternator while driving in the name of reliability.
@@Baebon6259I forget how it works. Can you not do 400W if the engine is running? If so that makes sense tho 400W will drain the battery right fast quick.
Any idea when you guys will be getting more in stock? I could use one of these for an up coming trip from Florida to Maine?
In a;runner 5th gen , where is the inverter located? Or is the same installation ?
I just did this mod on my 2022 4Runner.
Tye Inverter is in the trunk, on the passenger side, on top of the wheel well.
I had the guy at Toyota parts print me the instructions about replacing the Inverter, however, duh, I just read somewhere that you can get access to it thru the plug cover, by paying up from the lower side corners..
It all worked out for me, as I added a plug on the molle panel and needed to run the cable anyways.
Bought one for my 4Runner than last fall, another one for the Tacoma.
The one for the Tacoma has a different, cheaper outlet and harness for the outlet than the previous one.
Not happy with it.
If my kids ever kick the outlet and I need to replace it, I gotta buy another kit instead of just getting a new outlet at Toyota, as the included outlet is bigger than the OEM...
Not impressed, I want the OEM outlet.
I have heard the the 400W inverter stops working after certain speeds. Does this bypass that safety issue as well?
It doesn't stop. With truck idling, it puts put 100W.
Once in gear, it drops to 100W.
Th8s mod allows for 400Watts either driving or stopped as long as the engine is running.
Great for powering up a fridge, or charging batteries while driving, which otherwise would take forever
Any issues using the truck bed AND additional power plug at the same time??
I'm curious to find out myself before I do this MOD
Yeah, hello Guild, any insight on this? People have asked this question multiple times and it doesn't appear to have been answered. Thanks!
My EE take, you can use both but the sum total must be
Just installed and tested. Can use both but inverter total output is limited to 400 watts. 😉
Here’s an idea. I purchased only the wiring from you because you didn’t have the plug in inventory. You should include the plug template anyways because I bought the plug fro Toyota and am stuck to install this without that guide.
Very honest question here. Why would you want this outlet in the vehicle? What do you want to plug in it while driving? Thanks!
My wife and I both work remote. This allows me to take a day off to drive where we want to go while she saves a day off working in the cab from a hotspot while still being able to charge her laptop. Also many times I want to charge 110v things that I don’t want to leave in the bed if the truck.
Does this work for a 2nd gen tacoma?
Great tutorial. That was super easy and only took me about 45 minutes.
Un-characteristically good video.
Will this work if I don’t have an outlet in the truck bed? I have led lights running back there though so will there be an inverter to plug and play this kit into?
no. if you don't have the outlet on the back, you don't have an inverter.
I wish they have something like this for 2020 toyota tundra
I think the Tundra inverter uses the same electrical plug/receptacle so in theory the harness in this video could work in a Tundra
Would this work for an SR5? No outlet in bed
If there's no outlet in bed you probably don't have the Inverter in your truck, or the button. Hopefully you'll have at least the harness. I'd do more research if I were you
@@magiriano confirmed as no inverter if you were curious lol
That's a chamfer bit.
Is the disassembly of the center console the same for a manual transmission?
Would love to see this on a manual as well, just so I know what to expect
@@RobBanks It’s the same. Took me less than an hour to complete this install and it was completely worth it.
