Nice performance.I am tuning my tamiya ferrari too.I have made today a very extended service but I have to make some more adjustments. Not all people test engines at 22:30!!I think I am an r/c crazy!!!
@HDxMOD you should try to "repinch" the cilynder ,it worked for me . search youtube for "repinch nitro engine" and you will probably find instructions :) good luck
well if it comes with the tmaxx backplate then you can use the traxxas ez start system other wise you will have to get the pull start or a shaft starter that fits the particular plate it comes with.
even after you break it in you shouldn't let it run out of gas until your done running for the day cause it does run leaner when the tank gets emptier so you want to check it and fill it often.
shut off: increase the low speed needle so that the carburator is slightly opened when breaking. drink like mad: decrease the fuel injection on the high speed needle (will drink less and have greater speed)
@RyanRNewberg already have done this cant find any leaks,, maybe from around th slider on carb but it has no seals to replace so I think thats ok, I still have smoke even at high speed and it doesnt stall or anything so maybe its ok I just need to let it cool for a while... seems to cool very quickly anyway.. I have anouther brand new 3.3 too so I will just use it til it blows lol..
its good to have a temp gun cause you dont want your engine going over 270 or it could damage your engine. you want your engine at about 245-250 its ideal temp for those engines.
i have my trx 3.3 engine very rich and it still runs at 270 to 290 degrees, i have heard some people say that the 3.3 can run pretty hot and still be ok
if you have to tune the engine how would you know if you need to tune the high speed needle or the low speed needle? once you know that how would you know if you need to lean or richen the mixture? how do you tell if you have to tune the engine?
cause it says when you watch tank 1 it says if you run out of fuel it will run more lean which is not good and the engine temp will go up if you run out of fuel but idk if that counts after you break it in or not
k thanks but would it do damage to the rc car cause i have ran out of nitro before while driving it and when i drive the car i normally drive it a little rich
hey i have a question!! when they say to turn the high speed needle in turns, do they mean (like on a clock) from 12 o'clock to 12 o'clock (all the way around) or from 12 to 6 o'clock for 1 turn on the high speed?
sounds like your low speed needle is to rich so your car wont stay running or idle. i would try to adjust that needle and start it up it should work then
then we took it to the hobby shop and they tuned it and they said it runs fine but it just overheats so i richened bot the HSN and LSN 1 more turn than the hobby shop guys did and were gonna test it out. Ill tell you the results.
Camboooooo if the air is hot, it’s less dense, meaning there is less oxygen per given amount, which means you need less fuel so it’s not running too rich. On cold days, the air is more dense, so there’s more oxygen in that same given amount. This would make the engine run lean as there is more oxygen in the combustion chamber than would be on a hot day. Given the same high and low speed settings, more oxygen in the cold air would mean its running lean when compared to the hot air with less oxygen..... which would be more rich.
now you have to adjust your high speed needle and your low speed/idle needle which are the same needle. your idle should run fast when your running it and then when you come to a stop your idle should slow to low rpm in a few seconds and when you pinch your fuel line your car should speed up for 3 seconds then shut down if it speeds up longer then a few seconds when you pinch the fuel line before it shuts down your idle is to rich
i need help, im new to the rc nitro world and i just got a used Exceed razor 1/8 scale and the old owner hasnt used it in like a month and when i turned it on the idle was so damn high!!!!!!!! then after like 2 minutes of idling at high revs it just shut off immediately, withought going to a lower rev.
when it happened it wouldnt start anymore so we thought the piston and sleeve welded each other with all the heat from the engine but we got lucky cus it started 2 days later and we tuned it so the idle revs wouldnt be so high (idle screw) so now it idles perfectly and stays on at idle but when i give it just a bit of throttle it just shuts off, we got lucky one time and we were able to make it run for five seconds but then we hit the brake and it shut off. out of characters.
okay could someone help me please. I bought a nitro pullstart r/c car a could days ago. my ripcord broke the day I bought it..... did I pull to hard? how hard is it to snap the pullstart string? I snapped it... called the ocmpany their sending me a new. what can I do to prevent it from happening next time? Please respond...
why does the idle speed even go up cause one day i started my nito rustler and the idle speed was fast i know how to fix it i am just wondering why its doing it
hi i have a s maxx 2.5 and fule will not go thro and i plue in to th e topb to prime the emgen and i de fuded and it still well not start can you help :!
anyone help.... I just ran inn my revo 3.3... I have onboard temp.. after high speed runs it reads 330f which is way to hot, it is richer then break inn settings still? using 20% byron fuel... also will not wheelie..... any ideas... PS I understand that the leaner yo run it the faster it is (to a point) but I cant lean it out else it over heats....... so I dont know....
Cool it's just if I adjust the low speed needle it effects my idle speed and wants to creep away. Then when I adjust that I take off an it almost quits because of to much fuel. I have the 3.3 In my t-maxx. The High speed needle is ez to tune
at least all these guys harc cars that run i have a madfire and it dont do anything and not even 10 minutes of run time on it. i will get a traxxas real soon though
@VideoGamePlayer12 haha whatt? really that sucks. one of my next door neighbors are dicks and took my old man to court for partys n shit. so first day i get it im doing wheelies in his grass, running over his plants.. just broke it in yesterday and now it runs like a champ.
When I give my car throttle after letting it idle and warm up it boggs and dies. I just replaced fuel lines. is this a glowplug problem or an air filter problem or both?
Nice performance.I am tuning my tamiya ferrari too.I have made today a very extended service but I have to make some more adjustments. Not all people test engines at 22:30!!I think I am an r/c crazy!!!
very helpful got my nitro rustler running amazing
@HDxMOD
you should try to "repinch" the cilynder ,it worked for me .
search youtube for "repinch nitro engine" and you will probably find instructions :)

yes you can stretch it out over a few days and yes it is ok to do after run maintenance on the engine before fully broken in.
yes they are ok at high temp
well if it comes with the tmaxx backplate then you can use the traxxas ez start system other wise you will have to get the pull start or a shaft starter that fits the particular plate it comes with.

awesome videos thank you..
It might be the trottle trim and servo's, its no big problem.
shut off: increase the low speed needle so that the carburator is slightly opened when breaking.
drink like mad: decrease the fuel injection on the high speed needle (will drink less and have greater speed)
Thanks heaps, just learning how to use these
those work good to if thats what you want to use. i prefer a temp gun. it just depends on the person
try replacing the glow plug, or try the low speed screw prob richen it.
Which needle do you turn to get it into VTEC mode?
great video,, thanks...
i have my trx 3.3 engine very rich and it still runs at 270 to 290 degrees, i have heard some people say that the 3.3 can run pretty hot and still be ok
Open the low
speed needle more
if you have to tune the engine how would you know if you need to tune the high speed needle or the low speed needle?

and is it ok to let it run out of fuel while driving the rc car after break in any anwser will be great thanks
@VideoGamePlayer12 got my s maxx 3.3 and dont regret a thing about going nitro. yes maintainence is alot more complicated, but well worth it.
do you have to use traxxas glow plugs on youtr truck? or you can use any other glow plugs?
thank for the help
yes it does
Very helpfull!
ok, so if your engine is running to hot or too cold do u richen or lean the high speed needle or the low speed needle?
If it is what is the base setting for the .15, and how do you get to the lsn without taking off the fuel tank
hello,
i have just put a new clutch in my traxxas t-maxx 3.3 and when i drive it, it seems to be slipping. does it just need to be worn in?
that would be the high speed needle that you need to adjust.
thank you
is your engine or truck new? if it is you just have to let the engine get loose and it eventualy get into place and stop doing that.. =-)
sounds like your low speed needle is to rich so your car wont stay running or idle. i would try to adjust that needle and start it up it should work then
Does this technique applie to virtually all nitro monsters and buggies?
then we took it to the hobby shop and they tuned it and they said it runs fine but it just overheats so i richened bot the HSN and LSN 1 more turn than the hobby shop guys did and were gonna test it out. Ill tell you the results.
I thought you are suppose to richen on hot days and lean motor out on cooler days?

use the one you like the best....as for me i hate pull start so any ez start system i like.
now you have to adjust your high speed needle and your low speed/idle needle which are the same needle. your idle should run fast when your running it and then when you come to a stop your idle should slow to low rpm in a few seconds and when you pinch your fuel line your car should speed up for 3 seconds then shut down if it speeds up longer then a few seconds when you pinch the fuel line before it shuts down your idle is to rich
my t-maxx 3.3 has a sudden loss of power during acceleration, but has a good smoke trail, any suggestions?
i need help, im new to the rc nitro world and i just got a used Exceed razor 1/8 scale and the old owner hasnt used it in like a month and when i turned it on the idle was so damn high!!!!!!!! then after like 2 minutes of idling at high revs it just shut off immediately, withought going to a lower rev.

In the vid. your tuning a 2.5, is tuning a .15 the same?
Its your idle is too high or maybe your servo may be sticking
how much will it cost for a tune at a local hobbystore?
they say 1/8th turn which is like from 12 to 1 which is not even a quarter of a turn on the high speed needle.
On my car, a .27 engine, 3.5 on HSN and 1.5 on LSN, then tune it from there.
okay could someone help me please. I bought a nitro pullstart r/c car a could days ago. my ripcord broke the day I bought it..... did I pull to hard? how hard is it to snap the pullstart string? I snapped it... called the ocmpany their sending me a new. what can I do to prevent it from happening next time? Please respond...
hi have a quetion my nitro car drop power when acceleration. but in full trottle only.tnx
ADVICE: when i start my truck it idles fine but when i press the gas the truck will like barly even move please help
um a screw driver lol.. Unless you have the savage X The trim is on the remote ;)
what do u need to do to turn the idle screw down
wow... glad i went with electric
you can use any brand glow plug you want. check out my other videos about how to read your glow plug
hey i dont no if you fixed ur truck problem but it sounds like its too lean...
why does the idle speed even go up cause one day i started my nito rustler and the idle speed was fast i know how to fix it i am just wondering why its doing it
ok your idle adjustment is to lean and needs to be richened in order to slow down the idle the low speed needle would be fine were it is
yes
@lopez430 Sounds way cooler too. To bad i have crabby old people for neighbors who made motorized scooters illigal in our neighborhood.
hi
i have a s maxx 2.5 and fule will not go thro and i plue in to th e topb to prime the emgen and i de fuded and it still well not start can you help :!

yep
can any one help me i have nitro monseter truck it starts but if i do not drive it it will cut out or if i hold the break it cuts out.
Cool it's just if I adjust the low speed needle it effects my idle speed and wants to creep away. Then when I adjust that I take off an it almost quits because of to much fuel. I have the 3.3 In my t-maxx. The High speed needle is ez to tune
k thanks
i have a new stampede by traxxas..i like a battery powered is the best than gas powered
does it overheat??
@HDxMOD what you mean? not in tune? broken/croaked.? Theres many ways a engine can be F'ed up.. ;0)
@MrSavageXss dam straight
at least all these guys harc cars that run i have a madfire and it dont do anything and not even 10 minutes of run time on it. i will get a traxxas real soon though

Slow the idle speed.
lol my pro .15 is so simple lol no fancy stuff
too hot you richen, too cold you lean want to find the point that works in between.
lol.....adjust low speed needle...duhh
NO!
he could fry his engine and lose a lot of compration
to lean richen it abit
@Dieselboy805 20 bucks for me
very helpful!!!!
When I give my car throttle after letting it idle and warm up it boggs and dies. I just replaced fuel lines. is this a glowplug problem or an air filter problem or both?
can some 1 help me with my mosnter MT, i can start it perfect, but once i rev it to move it just instantly blurs out, any help is gr8
yes
yep
