    The deductible benefit is not true. If you get hail damage, more things on your house will get damaged besides the roof shingles. This includes siding, fascia, gutters, etc so you will be still out your deductible getting those items repaired.

    is a class 4 a longer lasting shingle, e.g 35 or 40+ year shingle?

      Almost all shingles now have a "50 year" or "lifetime" warranty, so don't let those numbers fool you. It's not how long they expect the shingle to last.
      But... to answer your question - it depends on what type of C4 shingle it is. The SBS shingles will last longer than the scrim-backed shingles. This video explains the difference - ua-cam.com/video/gsyp6LP9GAg/v-deo.html
