Also check out the meat puppets or toad the wet sprocket.
The bassist is Lisa Umbarger, and she is pretty badass. The song is based on an idea of a horror story the singer had about cult and members who self immolate. The “character” in the song is trying to lure a woman into joining and when she burns and evolves to higher plane she will remain young, beautiful etc. etc. So yeah, pretty dark song. But all fiction kids! 😅
The writer of the song was a huge Horror Genre fan & said this song & several others come from his dreams where he'd dream about characters from the Horror stories he liked. He said his favorite Horror Film was Evil Dead.
Thanks for doing this amazing band. This whole album is great. One of those groups that i wish had gotten bigger in Canada then they did. I sometimes feel like im the only one that remembers them.
Btw Amber, that vibration of the strings sound is the whammy, or tremelo bar. Guitarist grabs the little bar with his picking hand and pushes it down (in toward his body.) Push down and you release tension from the strings which makes the notes go lower. Pull up to put more tension on and the notes go higher. Its like stretching out a rubber band and flicking it to get different pitches. But yeah, whammy bar. Van Halen, Dime Bag, and lots of other players use it to get all kinds of crazy sounds.
I did not know what you were giving me on this one. But as soon as it started, I knew I love this song. Great job Rob Squad. This is a dark song about murder, but it still kicks my backside. This song goes into the mind of a killer.
Amber, You're lovin' the Whammy Bar. :). I've seen these guys in concert a few times (great live band) and their lead guitar uses the whammy bar more than just about any other band I've seen.

Tyler, I Come from the Water, Away, Backslider, Quitter, I Burn, Mister Love, Song I Hate, Happy Face and my deep cut sleeper song is Pressed Against the Sky.
This song hit a year after I finished high school and it got so much radio play it was insane. Never got tired of hearing it it's such a great song. I miss the days of turning on the radio to Q104.3 and hearing all the great alternative and grunge with Ida Hakkila. Long live 90's alternative rock.
One of my favorite 90s tracks!! I agree with the people saying this whole CD is great. Away, Tyler, I Come From The Water
The singer, guitar player song writer is now "Burden Brothers" don't skip them on your Toadies journey. "Beautiful Night" is one of their hits.
AND THAT WAS THEIR BEST HIT .🎸🥁
Such a dark but amazing song I got the CD when it came out I'm 63 and I still rock out to it
As fellow Okies, yall may or may not know, that Possum Kingdom is a lake in Texas where the Toadies are from
Tremendously under the radar album. The whole thing. Not just the two radio singles. Hope you took the time to listen to it all.
Saw you were struggling recently a few weeks back brother. Love seeing you enjoy this. Hoping for an incredible holiday for you and the fam bro
I love the Toadies!! lol
That's a real Rock & Roll band right there.
This song was everywhere back in the day. Always gave me serial killer vibes with the haunting lyrics.
Hope yall are both having a great day!
Great song!
🤛👊😎👍🤟🤙
Amber, wow! Grateful. I saw Jerry back in the day. Many stories if you want to hear fireside. Gorgeous
Amazing band! You really need to hear the track "Backslider". It comes on the album before this track and explains it much better.
