Hello Hans, thank you for the thorough review of the Atoll ST300 Siganture. I’ve been enjoying my ST200 Signature for years now. Atoll has been steadily improving both the functionality, stability and usability of their hardware and firmware over the years. Their latest “streaming app 2” was an unexpected surprise. It has totally transformed the way I interact with the streamers. Note: I use JRiver’s server function which makes searching my cataloged music fast and efficient. Thanks again, Brian
Many thanks Frank, a very good and positive review so much so I received last Friday the Atoll SDA200 Signature - so happy with my purchase so far, just need to save up now for the Kef R7 Meta
Nice review, I can confirm the sound quality of the ST 300. However, to my ears the TEAC UD-701N was able to top the Atoll in micro dynamics and offered an even more coherent sound stage. On the other hand the Atoll’s user interface is superior to the TEAC. Atoll offers much more options and convenience.
Dear Hans, thank you for the excellent review. Now that you’ve tested Eversolo DMP A8 and this Atoll ST300, which one would you prefer in terms of sound quality? I don’t have an option to test myself. Kind regards
Good morning and congratulations for the review. I wanted to ask if there is much difference in using the ST300 as a preamplifier rather than as a pure Streamer Dac connected to an integrated amplifier. I have a Musical Fidelity M6si500 and would not like to use it only as a power amplifier Thanks
Please help me to understand the clocks............................ . Is only USB (v, 2.0 or higher) asynchronous (not using the clock coming in through the input cable)? Or is the clock signal channel used for a home theater channel now in higher versions (not usb v.1)?) . And SPDIF is not or can not be asynchronous so the receiving DAC must strip away the incoming clock signal from the data stream to be reclocked internally? . As well, any DAC reclocking must have an internal RAM cache? . Some inexpensive DACs can not or do not reclock, therefore they depend on the incoming clock signal? . A good CD transport with fancy temperature controlled clocks on board is useless if the following fancy DAC is just going to reclock it anyway? Thank-you, Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass 🔈🔉🔊
USB Audio profile v2.0 is always async. AES3 (SPDIF, TOSlink and AES/EBU) carry the clock within the signal. It depends on the quality of the components if async or isochronous is better. That depends on the quality of the clocks and the AES3 receiver chip.
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel . Thank-you. I hope you mean USB v.2.0 & HIGHER are ALL asynchronous, because I think we are on v.3.2 ? . If the CD transport has a good clock & the DAC it's feeding has a good clock, which one wins out, given a spdif connection? You're helping. Thank-you.
listened to the 200 signature and blew me away, holy... much much better than a lot of what I had listened to before, even in 3x price range.
It's a great player, but 3 x price range....
@@TheHansBeekhuyzenChannel I reckon the Rose RS 130 is even better ...

Great to hear!
Thank you Hans. I own the Atoll ST 200 signature and use the streamer and Dac of the Atoll. I am very pleased with the sound for the price.

Hi Hans, maybe a Lumin D3 should be reviewed too. A little cheaper but I am confident a real good option!
I'll check it out!
Hi Hans, thank you very much for this review .It’s always interesting to hear your opinion.
Do you plan to compare it with a rose 130?
I can’t get a Hifi Rose on loan.

See my reviews. That's why I make them.
5:10 The Motorola micro does not handle the graphical display, that is connected directly to the blue board.

Better sound than app Atoll with app ROON and Nucleus.
👍🏼
Thank you Hans. How do you like this ST300 compared to the Eversolo DMP-A8? I really cannot decide between the two!
See my reviews and decide for yourself. Both are great but quite different.
The ST300 Signature (in combo with the AM400 Signature power amp) any day 😊💯

No, there isn’t
If i connect my TV to SDA300 via optical input, the amplifier will start automatic when i turn on the TV? Or only via trigger 12V? Thanks
I don't know.. I haven't reviewed the SDA300.

Can you organise the playlist (Qubuz) from new to old with the Atoll app? Can´t find it anywhere 🤔
The Atoll is already back to the distributor so I can't help you.
