The man is just superb. I've been listening to Elton since 1970. He has written and performed the music of our lives. Even if you are not a fan and I don't know many who are not, you have to be impressed with this moving performance.
A classic song, wonderful solo performance. Truly began appreciating his genius in ‘72 with Honky Chateau. What a catalogue Elton has! We’ve been blessed with his genius for decades. If you haven’t heard the albums “The Fox”, “Jump Up”, “Sleeping with the Past”, or “Made in England” give them a listen.
Strange hearing "Love" without "Curtains." But it's an amazing song...as is everything from CAPTIAN FANTASTIC AND THE BROWN DIRT COWBOY of course. I'm glad Elton put it on the JEWEL BOX set to give it some further exposure. And Lord, EJ's falsetto was a thing to be reckoned with back in the day!
Elton is my idol for so many years This song proves that elton is not even a piano killer but also a great great singer i love him and i'll always will
Great that Elton connected with Bernie Taupin and had great collaboration for their careers. Bernie writing the lyrics and Elton putting them to song. Beautiful.
One of my favourite Elton songs, listened to it hundreds of times. I love this version. This song would bring a tear to a glass eye. Elton is the most talented singer songwriter of all time.
I saw Elton in concert once, at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles. He & the band were touring in support of "Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirty Cowboy", which included this song, of course. So many things amazed me about Elton's performance, including the fact that he was on stage for just under four hours. His opening acts were Chaka Khan and Joe Walsh. Unforgettable.
He's so famous in the 70's my God! I got a T-shirt with his printed face and I always wear it at the school, some of my classmates are jealous w/my nice shirt. Its still a rockin' decade since 50s!😎
How many lives Elton influenced with his music! How many people loved and had a broken heart to the beat of the Crocodile...how many people made love while listening John´s beautiful music.
for me one of the best EJ song all the elton john atmosphere in this beautiful song from the best EJ album " captain fantastic " i love elton so much since my young years god bless you EJ you're my idol thierry from france
Love this version, so pure! I wish Elton was able to sing like this today. Think about it: This is just like listening to Elton John playing the song to himself for the first time once he finished writing it. This is what it was originally - just him writing the music on the piano, then playing it from start to finish (before adding the Curtains part)
I like your sentiments but credit where credit is due...Bernie wrote the lyrics. Although EJ was an epic performer of the highest caliber, he was not alone but part of a team that will live in infamy!
Of course, those were Bernie's lyrics. What I meant, was Elton playing it for the first time after he came up with the melody to Bernie's lyrics. That's how it worked. That's must be how all their songs sounded at first. I wish there was a way to see Elton actually writing music in real time...especially back in the 70's...
I'd greatly appreciate it if some Elton fans would view my solo acoustic piano & vocal cover version of LEVON, which you can find by clicking on my channel, as well as my tribute to the great George Michael's Praying for Time. Thank you and of course thanks to Elton for all his contributions to popular music over the last 50 years.
I loved when he sang this beautifully.....I couldn't wait for the next album to be released...whatever it was...I just needed MORE! those were the days....
techocrash09 : I DO understand what you actually wish to say, but perhaps you should take another look into Roget´s thesaurus... "Infamy" is not exactly the wording I would choose describing these guys achivments.
I really do enjoy his entire catalogue, I’ve been to several concerts but these solo performances - just him and the piano - are the absolute best. He’s at the peak of his abilities in this time period. His powerful falsetto is something to behold but we would be remiss if we didn’t mention he paid a price for it. Sadly, he couldn’t hit those notes after his throat surgery but still put out some great songs afterwards. That’s the mark of a true singer: being dealt a hand like that & being forced to completely change your style of singing and still doing a pretty damn good job. Elton is the GOAT!
the one and only elton john i love you EJ the first time i've heard your music i was 14 and now at 51 i still love you more than ever please take care of yourself i don't want to lose you my idol you're a genius thierry from france
A walk down the subway; into one of the transit car. Standing there weary just like yesterday, with strangers who never cared. The weather-man's voice and the rain that trickled by the car window drenched him, memories of a moonlit night when she'd share a sweet melody he played, the one that will never be sung again. A Love that was never desired, a love that was found and lost. a love we somehow hope to find, then we just hope and smile. so they say my friend, we all fall in love sometimes.
It's really sad... This Fantastic Song wasn't includes and no one Greatest Hits from him !!!! Even not Elton John Diamonds... Great, great song ! Great performance in 1975, like wise 2005 on MSG.
Elton tends to get emotional during this song since it’s about him falling in love with Bernie even though Bernie was already married. He’s glad they didn’t get married because it wouldn’t have lasted.
Words 4 this one : Wise men say It looks like rain today It crackled on the speakers And trickled down the sleepy subway trains For heavy eyes could hardly hold us Aching legs that often told us It's all worth it We all fall in love sometimes The full moon's bright And starlight filled the evening We wrote it and I played it Something happened it's so strange this feeling Naive notions that were childish Simple tunes that tried to hide it But when it comes We all fall in love sometimes Did we, didn't we, should we couldn't we I'm not sure `cause sometimes we're so blind Struggling through the day When even your best friend says Don't you find We all fall in love sometimes And only passing time Could kill the boredom we acquired Running with the losers for a while But our Empty Sky was filled with laughter Just before the flood Painting worried faces with a smile
very beautiful song, it makes me want to cry. Really. But I wonder how someone that elegant can be like this? I think his songs are dedicated to his boyfriend, just like Tatu in their solo careers, they sing only about each other.
The man is just superb. I've been listening to Elton since 1970. He has written and performed the music of our lives. Even if you are not a fan and I don't know many who are not, you have to be impressed with this moving performance.
Not like Elton is like not liking life itself 😝
@@rogerherson6052 elton john the Best!!!!!!
❤
❤👼
This song with Curtains always make me cry like a baby and I'm 60!! So so beautiful!
Same here.
That falsetto!!! God I miss that. There's no discernible tonal change from his chest voice. Nobody else I've heard could do that.
There he is again banging on that piano and belting out tunes, Captain fantastic from the end of the world to your town.
Elton John in his prime. Arguably the greatest pop artist of the 20th century.
No argument - he was - what a profilic artist in the 70s
Elton John is the best singer in the world.
His voice is so CRISP and perfect in this version!!!
He is perfect as a singer, as a songwriter and as a performer. This song is perfect too and means a lot
captain fantastic is my favourite album of all times
this song is a masterpiece and elton a piano god
Damn! He has the same strength in falsetto as his chest voice. Nobody I know can do that. Not even Freddie Mercury.
To me They are the best voices Freddie and Elton melina and sharon
The second best male vocalist in UK at that time was Elton John, Freddie Mercury won because of the colour of his voice and range.
Equally as good
Hey, Bruno Mars can do it too.
Great! The best Elton "Hercules" John ever....I miss the 70's
Elton could really hit those high notes back in the day. Really great stuff.
This man is near perfect.
Back when he had his full range... terrific!
A classic song, wonderful solo performance. Truly began appreciating his genius in ‘72 with Honky Chateau. What a catalogue Elton has! We’ve been blessed with his genius for decades. Fabulous. One singer, one piano; truly exceptional musicianship.
Great that Elton connected with Bernie Taupin and had great collaboration for their careers. Bernie writing the lyrics and Elton putting them to song. Beautiful.
This is insane!!! The greatest ever ❤️
Very impressive vocal and piano only for a classic track - thanks for sharing

Simply the best - watched it several times - and I am always in awe and emotionally touched.
ELTON JOHN BEST SINGER IN WORLD
one of the most beautiful song i've ever heard . a gem from my elton
Never saw this before. Sharp as a tack, perfect. Solo.
He's so famous in the 70's my God! I got a T-shirt with his printed face and I always wear it at the school, some of my classmates are jealous w/my nice shirt. Its still a rockin' decade since 50s!😎

This is a peerless, incredible performance that perfectly displays the range and colour of Elton's youthful falsetto.

The lyrics are superb - a real masterpiece, so deep.
Bernie and Elton - what a team
Great song
I love this.. but wish I could have seen Davey's brilliant rainy day solo...
once in a lifetime talent!
so wish he had that same voice with that falsetto, it cannot be copied
Love this version, so pure! I wish Elton was able to sing like this today.

Great song and he was quite the cutie back then 💕
he almost sounds like freddie mercury in this performance, and i think probably one of the most underrated lyrics taupin ever wrote
Yes we do and we all hope that special feeling with that special person of our dreams, never ends.
I know I do.
Perfection

one of my favorite song...thanks for posting...
My taste in music is somewhat all over the map. That said, from Soundgarden,Tool, Tears For Fears and Pantera,I know for sure THIS is my Favorite song
Words 4 this one :
Wise men say
It looks like rain today
It crackled on the speakers
And trickled down the sleepy subway trains
For heavy eyes could hardly hold us
Aching legs that often told us
It's all worth it
We all fall in love sometimes
The full moon's bright
And starlight filled the evening
We wrote it and I played it
Something happened it's so strange this feeling
Naive notions that were childish
Simple tunes that tried to hide it
But when it comes
We all fall in love sometimes
Did we, didn't we, should we couldn't we
I'm not sure `cause sometimes we're so blind
Struggling through the day
When even your best friend says
Don't you find
We all fall in love sometimes
And only passing time
Could kill the boredom we acquired
Running with the losers for a while
But our Empty Sky was filled with laughter
Just before the flood
Painting worried faces with a smile
WOW nice song
