    Outstanding directions. Unfortunately, I am not tiny enough to fit underneath the dashboard on a 2007. I removed the screw in the dashboard piece and pulled out the bottom of the front piece (clipped in, so be careful), and then remove the under-dash piece entirely (clips everywhere, but manageable) so I could actually fit my hand in there. At that point, I wedged two plastic knives to pry apart the retaining clips from the relay and I used channel locks to pull out the relay. It is easier to work underneath the dashboard, on your back. Your directions were invaluable. Thanks!

      Two plastic knives - that's brilliant and creative!
      Indeed, removing the panels and under-dash is the traditional way of going about this fix, from what I've seen in other videos, especially if you're a big person.
      I'm glad it worked out for you and I enjoyed reading your story about this fix.

      I have a tough time slithering my way into my '95 Civic LX, at only 5'6", with a slightly muscular build -- and a little gut in the mix.; ] I have a friend, though, who has done mechanical work as a pro for years, and at about 6'4" and an easy 250 lbs. he has always amazed me in easily prying apart these retainers with his grizzly bear paws and getting into spots in vehicles like a contortionist or one of the 19 clowns in the tiny car that rolls into the ring at the circus. ; ]

      @@MaximumTenacity Did you happen to notice if both of the actual lights were not blinking on the right side of the car? I might have the exact same problem except mine isn't working on the left.

      @@MaximumTenacity Hello and thanks for your video - super detailed.
      I wanted your opinion. I have a 2007 Accord. It was in an accident (some jerk - hit & run) and after the headlamp assembly was replaced and I picked my car up from the repair shop, the turn signal was rapidly flashing. I immediately went back to the shop that fixed it and he reinserted the turn signal bulb and it blinked normally.
      Jump forward 1 month and it just started happening again.
      Is this coincidentally a dying turn signal bulb or a relay switch issue, or something else?

    • @MaximumTenacity
      @MaximumTenacity  2 роки тому

      @@pleco101 I remember reading in the owner's manual (or shop manual) that rapidly flashing turn signal is a built-in feature that lets you know that one or more turn signal bulbs have burned out. This leads me to assume that the way it works is the car senses an "open" (very high resistance) rather than a "short" (very low resistance). Prefaced by all that, in conjunction with your story, my best guess is that some wiring/connections going to that headlamp assembly as a result of the car accident got damaged. The wiring might appear fine but one or more wires or connector pins could be damaged, thus causing high resistance or an intermittent illusion of a burned out or missing bulb. Most mechanics aren't thorough enough to trace down the root cause. Non-zero chance that it's just a fluke with the bulb - so replace it again. Keep the dead bulbs or at least take a pic that clearly shows whether or not the filament inside was actually burned out, this could help connect the dots or at least rule out some theories.

    I know this was made a while ago, but this helped me repair my turn signals relay for my Accord. Thanks for the video, out of all the troubles I have had with this Honda, this was the (hardest to remove but easiest work AND cheapest to repair. Local car repair we were looking at $150. Thanks for the video. Hope you are still helping others. God bless.

    awesome. works for my Honda Accord 2005 .... thought i would need to go to the Honda Service center.. bought that part for $32 off of Amazon (should have looked around more for better pricing), didnt have toothpicks, used cotton Q-Tips, cut at an angle, to wedge. Didnt use pliers, just my hand blindly rocking it back and forth, it popped out easy enough. The new part went in very easy, a little too easy, but couldnt pull it out, so I think its good. The buzzing from the signal lights are gone, so far. Drove around the block to confirm. The hard part is getting to see/touch the part. Was contemplating of removing the bottom part of the dashboard.

    I sincerely appreciate your video. I tried doing it by hand, unsuccessfully. Gave up after 15-20 minutes of twisting my wrists to get up in there, and stepped back to dive in again tomorrow. I tried using small nails, but they weren't small enough, and kept falling out as I bumped them.
    Finding your video. I liked the simplicity and utility of round toothpicks. When the relay comes out, who cares where the little wood slivers go! The channel-locks idea is a *perfect* answer to the need to grip and pull the relay with hands out in the open, and below the dash panel. I have some channel-lock pliers, and will try that... tomorrow. :D

      If it's happening only during signaling in one direction; only left or only right, then it could be the front or rear turn signal bulb on that side. If not that then I'd check the fuses next.

    • @MaximumTenacity
      @MaximumTenacity  6 років тому

      Well that's good news. Could even be that one or more of the relay's contacts wasn't making a good connection. The way it sits in my accord, it's not impossible for someone to kick it by accident if their foot goes up there for whatever reason ;P

    What would the problem be if the turn signals and the left headlight dont work? The turn signals only work if ipress the hazard lights button or if my car alarm goes off but not when imove the turn signal lever up or down. Would replacong the turn signal relay be recomendable? Any suggestions advice? thanks.

    • @MaximumTenacity
      @MaximumTenacity  7 років тому

      The turn signal relay is only responsible for the turn signals / hazard lights. And, if it is bad it will affect both the turn signal function as well as the hazard lights function. So if you're saying that those blinkers work just fine when you press the hazard lights button then it's not the turn signal relay at fault. The rest of the lights in the headlight assemblies go through the under-hood relay. That, or the fuses there, might be the problem. Then there's always the off-chance of an intermittent connector/wire problem.

    • @ducebigalow8834
      @ducebigalow8834 7 років тому

      Maximum Tenacity
      What is the intermittent connector? Would that be the stick for the turn signals? Or a wiring problem altogether?
      Yes I tried the hazard lights and they work fine. I haven't checked the fuses but if it were a fuse wouldn't it just stop working period?
      Under the hood relay. I will have to look that up then too.
      Thanks for the advice so far.

    • @ducebigalow8834
      @ducebigalow8834 7 років тому

      If it were the fuses according to a diagram online the fuses would also affect the hazard lights. Wouldn't it?
