Southern Illinois' only Covered Bridge Uncovered--and Popeye! (7-02)

Crossing over the Mississippi into Southern Illinois, we immediately meet Popeye! Chester Illinois, the home of the creator of Popeye and the town celebrates its fame. Driving around this old river town was interesting and made a bit more fun looking out for the statues and murals celebrating Popeye!
We were then off to find Southern Illinois only covered bridge, Little Mary's Covered Bridge. Unfortunately, it had been uncovered by a recent storm. It was still pretty cool as it was to learn that some revolutionary war activity had even taken place this far west!
We end up in Murphysboro for lunch before heading off to our next adventure.
